The example you cite just goes to show us what harm the NWT can do to those who swear by it.
The average JW accepts everything in brackets and reads right on thru it without question.
The bracketed words are not necesary as any difficulty understanding would have to be researched.
The Bible should be left the way the original writings were passed down to us.
The example you cite pushes WTS doctrine, implying that Jesus, as he was in Heaven, was created.

The Bible name for God in the OT was "Jehovah"
(Well, the tetragrammaton, but you get the point)
The Bible does call Jesus the Son of God. (Open to differing ideas, but a basic for Christians)
The word "Trinity" is not found in the Bible, but "resurrection" is there, along with the
"1000 year reign of Christ" and various terms meaning "Life everlasting."

I definitly don't believe the the "unbeliefs": trinity, hellfire, immortal soul. But as for what I do believe, I don't really know right now. My disillusionment is so deep it has made me question everthing. I would like to say I still believe in Jehovah and Jesus, the ransom, hope of eternal life, etc. but I can't say for sure. I sort of in "limbo" right now.
this morning while i was waiting in line to get a cup of coffee a gentleman in a suit approched the counter and gave the girl behind the counter the new tract and said that he is taking part in a world wide distribution of an important message then handed the tract to the lady and walked away.
the girl looked puzzled and promptly put the tract in the garbage can without even looking at it.
the jw got in his car and took off down the road toward the interstate.. two obervations.
Definitely a "get your time started" pioneer. Do you know what the difference between a regular pioneer and an auxiliary pioneer?
The aux. pioneer doesn't know that he should call his bible student from home before he leaves for service, the aux. pioneer would not have stopped at McDonald's unless he was getting breakfast. The aux. pioneer is more effective making converts because he is not out there to get TIME, he knows he can quit pioneering next month, where the regular pioneer would never quit and be looked down on.
my mum had her operation today, and i am so relieved!
everything went fairly well, and there seems to have been no complications, though it may be some time before she makes a full recovery.
she will be in hospital for a little while, and when she does come home she will most likely need someone with her most of the time as she won't be able to get around too well, but my brother and i will deal with that when she does come home.. the last few days have been really stressful, and i want to thankyou all for your good wishes, it means so much to me to know my mum has been in your thoughts and prayers.

i ran into a jw friend doing the tract work this weekend, and she was carrying the tracts in a folder.
both her and her partner looked like they were out doing a survey because of the way they were holding the folder with no bookbag present.
i just talked to an ex-jw friend in another state, and he said he saw someone in his neighborhood doing the same thing, and didn't think they were jw's because of it, but a tract ended up at their door.. just curious, for those of you in the know, was there some instruction to do this work in this way?
Yes, very detailed instruction at the service meeting to kick off this campaign. Try to go out without a field service bag.
Carry just the tracts (and your notepad to write down interest and placements). Don't try to engage people in a long
conversation. Be positive and leave them their personal copy. I think the goal was to not offend people, so that they
take the flyer, thereby, they can say what a huge success it was. They also wanted irregular or inactive JW to get out
there, so they made it so easy to do.

At first I thought that I did learn to live with higher morals thanks to the WTS, but...........
Morals are our own ability to distinguish between right and wrong,
they are principles we develop in order to define our own character.
I gave up the responsibility to distinguish between right and wrong, allowing
the WT to decide for me. I stopped truly developing my character, choosing
to hide within the one the WTS told me to have.
I am afraid of what lies ahead, but not on this subject.
Life is very messy and complex and therefore so very WONDERFUL

i am puzzled, i see a lot of new posts from supposedly active jw's passing out new tract and don't believe it.
i can understand still attending meetings especially if family is still involved.
why not just fade away?
I would feel way too guilty if I actually brought someone else into the borg. I already helped
some people in the past. I refuse to go out in field service, going on about 4 months now, but
I was still reporting informal witnessing for the last 3 months (talking about the JW to someone
who's family is in, he doesn't want to be in). No more counting hours for me.
October will be my first inactive month (turning in zero). This will cause a stir within the BOE.
Some people are not prepared to face that pressure from family or book study overseer or whoever.
I am sure that virtually everyone here is not effective in the ministry of the cult.
I really planned a slow fade, but it's like a slow avalanche- once it starts, it picks up speed.
I might as well ride it out to becoming inactive in a short time, cutting back on meetings later.
In short, I guess I agree with the original statement:
If you don't believe the wts as truth why still in FS?

i have been very stressed out lately....thinking about my 8 year old shunning me just about kills me.
i da'd myself quite a while ago (7yrs) and i wish i could have somehow faded.
If, years from now, she gets baptized after all your efforts, you might consider reinstatement. Don't bother now.
In that case, start showing up at Sunday meetings. Arrive half way thru and leave before it's over. Do that for 3 mos. or so, then do the same for the School and Serv. Mtg. Don't even bother with the book study. Do that another month or two, staying a bit longer each time. Then go to the complete 5 meetings, showing up on time, staying til the end, for only a couple of weeks. Immediately put in your letter, lie your ass off, get reinstated (which will take another 1-3 months) with no commenting privileges, and you can stop attending meetings altogether as soon as you want to. You can then refuse the elders visits and counsel, but never bad-mouth the organization in a way they will find out. Don't tell your daughter that you are an apostate, just say you are depressed.
