That's a horrible book.
Some of my great memories from my childhood.
1) Seeing the ark float by the last humans on top of that rock. Animals are either dead or dying in the flood.
2) The wall of Jericho falling down, the soldiers seem happy and shouting and in the back ground bodies are falling from the crumpling walls.
3) That female judge that seduced the enemy commander then drove a tentpin through his skull. She's leaving and he's lying there with blood trickling down his face
4) Sampson ripping the lion in two. It just looked painful, both for Sampson and the lion.
5) Little King David getting intimate with a sheep while a bear is lying bleeding behind him with a hole in his skull
6) The ten plagues all in little pictures around the page. The last one showed the Egyptian cradling the lifeless body of his dead son.
7) Sodom and Gamorah being destroyed by fire, I had no idea what a homosexual was, my dad had to explain it to me. I learned about homosexuals before the birds and the bees.
8) The scouts returning with fruit from the promised land. Those grapes were huge! Okay, so it's not traumatizing, but still... like genetically mutated grapes!
I know which one you're talking about, I always used to day dream about sneaking into camp and stealing it.

2007 International Apostate Tour
by lawrence inlet's show up at a few assemblies (close proximity) and have a p-a-r-t-y!
screw the debates over words; when we spoke to the boe, cos, dos, and bethel we were dealing with murderers, pedophiles, and protectors of mean men and women, called brothers and sisters.
now it's our time to have some fun within "the courtyard of the gentiles.

Would you EVENTUALLY be happy in a JW dominated new system?
by JH inmany here say that they wouldn't want to live in a world dominated by jw's.
i understand.. i know that i wasn't always happy under their rules and way of living.
i don't like going to meetings, especially 5 a week.

First off I'd be waiting for the second resurrection because I'd die of shock of the JW's actually being right.
Then, if we're being perfectly honest here I would give it a shot. I am in a quest for the truth. If that ended up being the truth, then killing myself in protest is just poor sportsmanship.
Would I be happy in the JW's ideal new system? So long as I had my family I would tolerate the backwards way they plan on doing things. I think I would also get some sick pleasure in watching these people that thought they'd be treated like royalty complaining over all the work that would need to be done in a world without technology. Though if my family wasn't there, I wouldn't want to be either. I'd most likely pick some spectacular sin and be smote by several lightning bolts.
You asked for my honest opinion and that's it. I know it's kind of cool to spit venom at anything WTS related on these forums, but I'd seriously question how many replies here are honest and how many are just saying what they expect everyone wants to hear. -

Some Speculative Investments

in addition, i think that.

I honestly haven't read much about investing other than what I needed to trade.
My current formula is to take half of my volatile portfolio at the end of the year and convert half of it to stable investments. Each year my starting volatile budget gets a bit larger yielding a higher return.
I'm assured to never lose my shirt, but I'll likely never "strike it big". I'm not interested in winning a lottery, I would just like to retire happy and comfortably. -

How do you see the world heading if all religion was eliminated?
by Guest with Questions inmany, like dawkins, think that religion is the root of all evil.
hypothetically, if all religion was eliminated and all people stopped believing how would you see the world in a few years?
with atheism on the rise do you think that society will improve or deteriorate?.

Religion fills a need in many people. You can ban religion but you won't eliminate the need.
For religion to be eliminated it would need to be replaced by something else. For the life of me, I cannot think to what that might be so I'm not sure what the world would be like.
As for wars, they have had many objectives, but the main means of motivating someone to fight has been either religion or political pride. -

Makes me wonder why Canada is at the 14-30% atheist mark. -

How come the JWs don't celebrate the Jewish Holidays?
by Irish Rose inhow come the jws don't celebrate the jewish holidays?.
were they not started by god, there for not started by pagans..

Rutherford was extremely anti-semitic and to a lesser degree so was Russel. There were numerous articles denouncing the jews. Even if scriptural basis was found for celebrating these holidays, their personal racism would have kept it from ever happening.

Do You Think The Leaders Of The Watchtower Truly Believe What They Say?
by minimus indoes the governing body and its helpers really believe what they teach?
there's so much emphasis on the great tribulation, once again, i wonder if they believe that the end is soooooo close.
i know some of the "faithful" believe everything hook, line and sinker.

Hmmm, worth a shot...
Actually I think the members of the governing body do believe what they say. After all they are anointed in holy spirit and chosen by Jehovah himself. Every day I include them in my prayers and thank God for blessing his earthly organization with his favor.
One day I hope to travel to the New York bethel to see if I can meet one of the Governing Body. A sister in our congregation met one on her trip back in '96. She said it was amazing, the older brother had such zeal for Jah that he almost seemed to glow. It is a great blessing to know that we are part of this true religion.
If only you apostates could experience something like this, maybe you would be able to see the error of your ways and return to the light. -
