Good point. Your assessment is right there are far more women than men. However, this is not peculiarly a Witness thing. A local church recently reported 83 women and only 37 men at communion.
It may be a biological thing - women are generally more caring and emotional than men. Then again it may be a Christian thing; Islam is a far more male prone religion than Christianity.

% of JW women versus % of JW men
by cyber-sista indoes anyone know the stats on this or have an idea?
in all the congregations i have seen seems like the percentage of women is always higher than the men, though it was never information the org let out to us.
also the women are the ones who are most involved in the preaching work--pioneering, etc.

A conversation with JW's about blood fractions
by catch22 inbeing an ex-jw for some years now, we assumed that jw's would have some answers to the blood fractions allowed since they can no long claim they abstain from blood.
we recently were called on by an elder and what appeared to be a brother he was training.
they gave us blood videos, both of which spoke nothing about what was allowed.

Blood fractions has to be the achillies heal of the whole of the no blood doctrine. It just does not make sense now.
Blood 'fractions' are derived from large 'pools' of donor blood, i.e. these fractions are extracted from the blood from hundreds of individual's donations, all of whom broke God's law by donating, but as a Witness it is OK to accept? I see no logic in the doctrine any more.

After meeting joy (Holy spirit?)
by got my forty homey? indid any of you find that after meetings/conventions and the family was headed back home that everyone was so happy yelling, speaking above each other, and rarely was it about the actual content of the meeting but the latest gossip and bs.
and then someone in the family would say "wow, look at us, were really happy and stuff because of the holy spirit from the meeting/convention?".
just a annoying remembrence from growing up as a kid as a joe wit..

Hate to be the odd one out here, but as a family we had some really good times after meetings and travelling home from meeting and assemblies. We were always the last to leave the hall and often did post assembly work together. They were good times.
It's the doctrines and dogma of the centralized heirarchy that is filtered down to the local level that gets me not the sociability of the R&F.

Are You a Taker Not a Giver
by blondie inmany posting here once would not accept a blood transfusion or give blood because of the wts doctrine.. having left that doctrine behind and being willing to "accept" a blood transfusion, are you willing (if able medically) to donate blood?.
if willing to accept an organ transplant, are you willing (if medically able) to donate an organ, either as a live donor or when deceased?.
if yes, to both questions, do you donate blood regularly?

I like many here felt that when the restrictions on organ transplantation were removed that morally if I felt that I coud at some point receive a transplant, then I should be prepared to donate as well. I talked over with my family and am a registered organ donor - noted in driver's licence etc.
My views on blood have changed greatly recently but not yet donated blood. Like itsupport, I would only accept blood as a last resort.

Yes. But like many of us who were loyal, I thought this was part of the price we paid for having the truth and prospect of God's eternal blessings.

what caused you to come and read the posts of so many of your former brothers and sisters who have either been disfellowshipped or have chosen to walk away from the society and the 'truth'?

Does the faithful slave exist?
by XQsThaiPoes ini have known a few anointed and a few bethlites.
after researching pubilcations and the watchtower websites i belife the faithful slave does not exist in a tangible form and is a ghostwriter for the entire org.
everything is subcontracted from mostly the great crowd now billed as corespondants.

I had an intereting chat with an elder the other day who told me the end must be very near because the annointed have nearly all died off. In his view the most of the 8,000 who partake are not of the annointed (don't know what it makes them then) and the real number is far less.
The FDS idea has never worked in practice. As a group, including women remember as well as men, they have never been consulted over doctrinal issues. The organization has always been highly centralized. The idea of a FDS feeding the household has never been a reality.

I Am Beginning To Despise This "Cult"
by minimus inlately, i feel more and more disturbed over everything the watchtower stands for.
i can't stomach the jws.
i can't tolerate their pettiness.

Minimus,
I know how you feel.
I stayed in for a long time, thinking I could in some small manner make a difference. Then, I started to distance myself from the Society but at the same time had feelings of guilt that I should be there for those I truely love and care about, and needed my support in the congregation. Now I have the feeling that the whole WT&BTS thing is totally beyond repair.
