many here have heard that many/most famous bible tales are in fact merely local versions of often repeated pagan myths with a twist.
the jonah story is a classic.
the story is familiar to all, the joppa setting, the stormy sea and boat, the swallowing by a whale/fish, reappearance after 3 days.
It's widely accepted that the story of Jonah is a story, but there is much teaching contained therein - good grain.
The problem is that people took the whole thing for a fact, even nowadays, fundamentalists take the whole bible as the literal word of a true god, which in reality is as mythical, and no different from the rest of them.

I see two options: They see the mikes as phalic symbols, or that it would allow women to make a choice.

i was reading a report in the paper yesterday about my old school, saying it had very bad result because 70% of the pupils there can't do basic maths.
they were going on and on about how bad it was, and that the education authorities were failing the pupils but i don't think they've done that badly in the results.

I wonder if there will be an equal number of women of heaven since, as you know, Jehovah is an impartial god, and so therefore women are worth only 60% of what men are worth.

I have wondered about that. My thoughts have been that:
Nothing dirty can go to heaven, but according to the bible, women are dirty when having their periods, and a little afterwards. So they cannot go to heaven.
Then again, It would not make sense to have their periods in heaven, since they cannot reproduce there.
If they cannot reproduce there, it would make no sense to have sex differences in heaven, so all the silly laws for gender behavior would make no sense in heaven.
You would become like angels and think only about Jehovah and help him kill all humans in Armaggeddon.
Oh, well. Just my thoughts driving me crazy.

I believe Revelation talks about how the 144,000 will be virgins.
Yeah, but those virgins will be given to the Muslims who die in a Holy War.
