  Just a little anecdote illustrating how out of touch the typical JW is

  this weeks book study lesson was on martha, the sister of lazarus.

  the chapter in the "imitate their faith" book praised her for being "industrious".. the conductor at our congregation meeting was just positively gushing about how "industrious" modern-day jw women are.. he was so exciting, he could barely get the words out.

  What's your passion???

  yesterday, i was feeling very blue.

  this is quite unusual for me, as i tend to be quite an upbeat, positive person, so spells of sadness or depression take me by surprise and are a real shock to the system.

  you know, i don’t believe in “putting on a face” or pretending to be ok; this “fake it ’til you make it” malarkey has never been something i’ve liked.

  Welcome FaD,

  That`s a good topic , my niece is/was a talented musician , playing the Violin and the Piano , and was encouraged by her school teacher to pursue it as a career , and she had the opportunity to do so .

  She was discouraged by the JW religion , married a DH ,witness ,now with 2 teenage sons , and beleive the Elders are now REALLY preparing JW`s for the GT.

  It`s just so sad.and a wasted talent.

  I still haven`t discovered what my passion is , I`ll probably be on my deathbed and then realise it too late.

  i have been studying with the jw since june of 2016 and they say only the ones who make up the 144.

  000 and can partake of the bread and cup.

  is this true?.

  The JW`s always said that as they got closer to the Great Tribulation -Armageddon , that they claimed would take place before the 20th Century ended , the number of anointed would decrease to only a handfull left to go into the" New system"

  We are now 16 years into the 21st Century and the numbers are still going up .

  The numbers of anointed did drop to about 8000 and remained around that figure for about 35 years , from about the 1950`s -1960`s

  Since the 1990`s that figure has now increased to around 14000 of anointed as of 2016 .

  Go figure ?

  Next time you have a study ask your JW conductor to " Please explain" ?

  And when they talk about" New Light." , remember that is an excuse for previous failed prophecys , which are many .Far too many to list here , do more research before comitting yourself and regretting it for the rest of your life.

  How do i keep seeing my daughter when she turns 18

  hi.i have a 13 year old daughter that i still have for a limited time as she comes to stay about one night a month at present.the law here in australia is on my side in that the australian governments stand is that the child needs regular access to both parents .

  i am currently arranging for mediation to have her more often .

  her mother can not stand that i am living with another woman and doesn't want her here .

  You say your daughter is 13 , and you are worried about how she will treat you when she is 18 ?

  I think you are being paranoid , my bet is , long before she reaches 18 she will see the bullshit of the JW religion.

  However , in between time you just need to show her how much you love her , and the fact that you and your missus have split up has nothing to do with her , it is in no way any fault of hers and that both of you love her , and want her to succeed in what she wants to do with her life and encourage her with her goals.

  In the meantime

  But also try to get her to think for herself , reason , and do personal research , and not just accept what anybody says , including you .

  Try to get her to research things that may have a great impact on the rest of her life , and not just accept other peoples viewpoints .

  You have a 5 year project ahead of you buddy , and I have faith in you that you will have a happy outcome .

  Single Sisters Over A Certain Age Group Getting A Bad Rap

  i'm new here; one of my relatives was a member on this forum a few years ago and told me about it.

  anyways, as a sister who has been in the org since childhood and now in her late 40's (plus as a woman of color), i have noticed that a number of brothers have an ageist attitude.

  they are very accepting of young women under 26 and rejecting women over that age, particularly those in their 30's and over.. is this an unspoken mindset from wthq (specifically from bethel), or is it that quite a number of males (sorry, i'm not sexist here) have this type of mentality?

  Don`t sisters of any age get a bad rap ? Lets face it JW`s organization exploits women to their own advantage .

  And they do not give them any credit personally for their contributions which are many.

  They give lip service to all the hard work women do within the organization , however in practice they give them no credit whatsoever.

  Think about it : Can you name one woman of modern times who has been highlited in any publication the society has published since the first printing of the Watchtower , the Golden Age ,now AWAKE ? Since the 1879`s ?

  If any woman has been mentioned in this time period it is not what she has accomplished on her own , but how she has supported her husbands service and he gets the credit.

  While the Bible has it`s failings with giving credit to women overall ,it does make exceptions in both the OT and the NT and names women and their achievements.

  That is not something you see in WT publications .

  An example : Many women profess to be of the anointed ( 144000 ) to rule with Jesus in heaven for a thousand years. And this fact is accepted by the Governing Body as a fact. Yet no women can have a say in the running of a KH , let alone being a member of the Governing Body here on earth. ?

  Yet they can rule over all mankind for a thousand years from heaven with Jesus ?

  In Watchtower illustrations of the 144000 their is not one woman shown , everyone in the illustration of the 144000 has a beard., depicting males , how sexist is that .

  Do Jehovah`s Witnesses honestly respect and honour females ? You be the judge.

  How Many Disfellowshipped Are There In The US?

  i've read in the watchtower, as well as observed personally, that 1% of the congregation gets disfellowshipped every year.

  i'm not good at the math but i figure that it's 40% since 1975 (yes i know, they're growing).

  i know that quite a few return but still, there must be a large percentage of disfellowshipped jws who will never return.

  HOW the WatchTower leaders flipped the script on Christianity

  we are going to examine the cataclysmic changeover in christian teaching exploding inside the watchtower religion in the early 50’s by exploring a background of the history of jesus’ place in christianity.

  jw teaching about the nature of jesus’ importance in the salvation of mankind will be compared with christian history.

  This is a lot to take in Terry , thank you for that .Some of us need more time to digest it all.

  I was very interested in the" Kingdom Interlinear Of The Christian Greek Scriptures" when it came out many years ago by the WTB&TS

  Two things that puzzelled me back then.

  1. the tetragrammoton was not their in any of the scriptural texts , nor was their any equivalent in the Greek language.

  This was a word for word translation , printed by the WTB&TS of the original Greek Text , and Gods name was not their.

  So why was it admitted into the RNWT. where it did not belong. ( Adding to the Scriptures ?)

  2.In the same publication , the Kingdom Interlinear Of The Christian Greek Scriptures ,of John CH.1;1 states.

  "In the beginning was the word , and the word was God"

  In the interpretation into english the indefiite article was inserted that stated the word was "a" God which is an addition to the original greek Scriptures, and should not be their.

  Another case of adding to the Scriptures ?

  And if I remember correctly , their are numerous texts in the Christian Greek Scriptures , the New Testament , about 30 or so ? that his disciples were to be witnesses of JESUS ? to the ends of the earth , every knee would bow down to Jesus in acknowledgement of his position GOD had given him .

  Yet nowhere in any text in the Christian Greek Scriptures are disciples of Christ given the name Jehovah`s Witnesses it never happened in Isaiah`s time , it was not an issue with Jesus , and it was not authorised by him.in our time.In fact the scripture says that it was by divine providence that followers of Christ were to be called Christians not Jehovah`s Witnesses incidentally the name Jehovah didn`t emerge until the 13th Century , and by a Catholic Monk , it`s true.

  Jehovah's Witnesses Do Not Believe in Freedom of Religion

  this statement may seem odd at first.

  you may think of jehovah's witnesses as being an american religion in a country where freedoms exist and are prized.

  you may think of the organization's legal battles in the supreme court to protect certain rights and freedoms.

  Jehovah`s Witnesses are very bold in insisting freedom of religion in the lands that Christendom has already made inroads in , however they are very quite about trying to make any headway in predominantly Muslim countries even after 100+ years of Jesus Christ rule .

  How can they say they have fullfilled Jesus Christ commission to make disciples of people in all the world /nations when they ignore the lands dominated by Islam , a religion that has roots in the Bible , recognising the prophet Abraham and his teachings , with over 1.5 Billion adherents. ?

  JW`s seem to conveniently forget that by the end of Jesus Christ Rule of a thousand years when Satan is let loose again their will be many opposers already on the earth who reject Jehovah`s kingdom , as many numbers as the sands of the sea-shore .

  Thats not something that happens instataneously , it`s something that has been building up and fomenting for a very long time .

  So Paradise is not all that it`s cracked up to be.
