Intercepting JW's on the 4th of July! Oh what fun!
by HadEnuf ini must tell you an interesting story from today.
gary and i went thru a drive-thru for breakfast and were sitting at our local park (in the car) enjoying our high fat, high cholesterol breakfast when, low and behold, here comes a group of jw's sloooooowly checking out the area.
(this is right by the river on the green circle trail, which is a favorite place for joggers, walkers, bikers, etc.

Australian story: Abused JW kid now Melbourne writer
by Inquisitor inin the march 2007 issue of quadrant, an "australian review journal of literature and ideas", there is a small biography entitled:.

I was thinking that too jwfacts that they possibly would have treated her the same if they weren't jws but instead did it in the name of "jehovah" and they felt they had a valid reason for treating her that way. I don't understand why they would treat the other children different though. She got the hard treatment straight of the bat.
It's also scary that no-one picked up on the abuse the whole time and said anything. How many other kids are in the same boat that are supposed to be in loving families? Obviously this scenario is not limited to JW's, however, she would have had a hard time being alienated outside of the family as well with the birthdays, easter, christmas crap.

Ditto for what everyone is thinking/feeling on this forum. If there was such a thing as armageddon/paradise as if ANY of her family but her would make it through.
Makes you so mad people would do this to a child and person and the siblings would sit by and agree. I truly hope she is recovering. If she makes it here one day I think every one who posts would have something to say.

Does he understand what's going on? If so, I like rebel8's idea. Get him one with a camera and he can film/photo his own evidence?

firstly I have to say - you guys crack me up with the expressions - witless, jehobah, da troof.
Secondly I say no to this - I was growed up as a "witless" but as I said in another post I am the same person as I was when I was a witness. Not because I grew up with it but because that is the person I am. My father - still a witness - agrees and is why still has dinner with me even though I am DF'd. What backs this up is my new family (in-laws) think I'm the best thing since sliced bread. They are not and never have been witnesses but they base this on me and my personality.
I have thought about this before - if there is no such thing as everlasting life and what I do now has no meaning in the big picture - what would I do? Steal from people to get what I want, tread on people to get to the top, do whatever is needed become a millionare. Fact is I couldn't...

What jobs have you done as. . .
by Lady Lee inok we all have stories of "window-cleaners" but some of us had other kinds of work - that you got payed for (slave labor excepted).
so what kinds of things have you done?
what did you enjoy?
-
sparrow
1) Rooftiled for 8 years - most witness guys in my area took this up as there were quite a few tilers. Being that my father was one of the first it was a no brainer.
2) Did a stint of window cleaning
3) Did a 10 months course in IT and now am IT manager/developer for Telco. Good job but I miss the sun

There has been a few posts regarding happy marriages and the 2 witness rule which reminded me of an experience you might find funny. I'd like to know if anyone else has done anything like this...
There was a married couple with 3 kids in our cong. He was an MS but a nasty piece of work. Verbally abused her and the kids, heavily into hardcore porn and towards the end physically abused her (and had the worst breath). She was the nicest person and the kids were awesome. However the elders always stuck up for him and never believed her. She spent years with this until she finally got the courage to leave.
Anyway, he moved interstate (Queensland) and "supposedly" moved in with another woman although never admitted it when asked. The 2 witness rule applied and the elders still would stand up for him. This went on for years. He would not allow her a scriptural divorce and wanted control over her life. The children had to spend some holidays with him but the elders would not accept what the kids said as they were too young and he denied it.
My father and another ex-elder decided to do something. (Our families were pretty close) I had a trip to Queensland so they organised me to go earlier, got me a video camera, hired a blue van with curtains and I got the address and a mudmap off the kids of where he was living with this "other woman". Plan was simple - video them going into the apartment, stay the night in the van and film them in the morning.
He knew me (I had even worked on the mag counter with him) so I had to be careful. You can imagine me in suburbia, sitting in the back of a van, video camera through the curtains, freaking out thinking one of the neighbours was going to knock on the van. I first filmed him leaving to get groceries. He drove past the van and looked at it. I then filmed them come back and go in together. I put a hat on, sunglasses and quickly walked through the complex trying to film (with commentary) where they had gone in, tried to film the number plate, still freaking out he was going to see me.
In the morning she came out early and took off in her car before I go the camera started - I missed it on film but saw it. He left later.
The funny bit - I went to Mcdonalds for breakfast as I was damn tired spending the night in a van. As I was eating you wouldn't believe who walked in - He did! He saw me, got his breakfast and ate with me. I had to make up an excuse that I just drove up to visit my mother while the big blue van was in the carpark that was sitting out the front of his place for the past 18 hours.
The not so funny bit - My video work was crap. I hardly got any evidence to prove he was living their with her and the elders still would not give her grounds for a scriptual divorce even with my "signed" testimony. On top of this I had breakfast with the enemy.
The moral - don't ever hire me as a PI - I suck. There is a happy ending though - she left the org including the kids, she is happily married and we still piss ourselves laughing about my pathetic attempt to free her from slavery...
