never before 1995...no date or period for the end...we are in uncharted waters
by oompa inright now.......and since 1995.....wt has no real teaching to show how close we are to the end......none......most dubs prob dont even know......but wt has always been about dates.....and how close the end is to those dates......but now.....since we unplugged the generation of 1914 to the end of the world.......and now that we are still recruiting the anointed for heaven......the last days can last and last and last......duh...that is why they are called the last days!!
!........and so do they still teach it is "very, very near" (only used one time in wt)....or "imminent" ??
?......just a year ago i think?.......so how close do they say we are now and why?.........damm the bible is soooo clear that nobody knows the day or hour...yet i bet they still say is just around the corner (based on what scripture!?!??!?!?!)..........

First Century Jehovah's Witnesses
by cameo-d inwhat proof does wt cite that the formation of jw movement began in "first century"?.
did the grassroots originate before jesus came on the scene?
or was it during the time of his ministry?

Assuming my memory of JW dogma is correct....as Blondie said, it "started" with Abel, not Adam with no formation of a group...or was that with Russell?

Letter to my in-laws regarding shunning over Easter period.
by jakes inover the easter period my family and i took a well deserved break.
we travelled to our hometown to celebrate my parents' 40th wedding anniversary.
however, the treatment we experienced from my in-laws was totally appalling.

All I can say to this is , wow. I'm sorry that you, your wife and daughter had to experience this with family. I fear this very thing will happen to me if I were to try and go back into the fold, which is why I stick to the fade-away approach to it all. I hope this letter strikes their heart as it did to mine.

As others have said, it varies state to state, but I will talk about California from what I know. There is a formula for child support that is used (your attorney should be able to access it). But it's based upon BOTH of your incomes. You probably would get child support until the almost 18 year old turns 18. Alimony could be for life, remarriage or a set number of years. It also looks at the marriage's past and current income. As anything, it's up for negotiation.

Ugh I wish! Usually the PO ended up doing the public talk after the WT study. Usually something he was really familiar with. Only JW X-MAS for me was if there was no power.

Anyone Have Any good Or Weird Home Book Study Stories?
by Tired of the Hypocrisy ini have a lot of them but this one my wife told me takes the cake!.
my wife was about 15 yrs old and was attending the bookstudy at this sister's house.
the sister's hubby was a non-believer but her daughter was a jw and was married to my wife's uncle who was also a jw.

Along the same lines JWS with the whole non-insulated house so you could hear what anyone did in the bathroom. HATED it. I think Tired wins the prize, though.

What to do with left over memorial emblems
by Mattieu inwe have an italian cong that shares the hall with 2 english congs.
an elder from the italian cong makes the wine & bread every year for quite a few of the congs in melbourne.. after the last memorial is held in our hall, the wine is taken back to this elders house where certain privileged ones are invited back for some socialising and to drink a very nice drop of red wine!
as well as the usual assortment of cheese platters and crunchy bread.. we were privileged enough to be invited back a few years ago, but the whole idea didnt seem to sit well with me, so we took a raincheck and never got invited back again.

i had a family member make the bread. it was grainy and blah. needed lots of butter to make it semi-decent. the wine is just wine, drink up!

last of the system blah blah blah
by wizardca inso a family member sends me an email from another witless about how we are living in the last hour of the system.
they were approached at knife point (it was a plastic knife) during the middle of the afternoon at a grocery store.
so the write goes on about how one should always get a store employee to walk you to your car and never ever go shopping at night.

So a family member sends me an email from another witless about how we are living in the last hour of the system. They were approached at knife point (it was a plastic knife) during the middle of the afternoon at a grocery store. So the write goes on about how one should always get a store employee to walk you to your car and never ever go shopping at night. Oh and the best part was not to go shopping alone. We are living in the last hour of the system after all.
So while I don't doubt the authenticity of this event...have they not read the bible showing the same acts through out history as occuring? Economy is bad, people rob others, etc to put food on the table or for something to do or whatever. I think it's a good idea to ask for someone to walk you to your car (especially at night, no issues with that) but to encourage others not to shop at night or go to the mall alone? I would be freaked too if someone pulled a knife and attempted to mug me (albeit a plastic knife) but to claim it's because we are sooooo close to the end of the system??? GAG! Let's just shop on the dangerous Internet (all dem apostate websites that are so tempting!) and hide from society (unless we are selling distributing literature. Oh and be wary, people pretend to be UPS and Fed-Ex so don't open the door, even if you see their truck outside!
Is it just me or does anyone else want to gag? Oh and the best part...the author doesn't have a cell phone. But they are getting a replacement!

The idiocy of accepting new people to the KH with no background checks!
by restrangled injust recently before the book study was cancelled, a young man started coming into my mom's home for the same.
she was alarmed and asked the elders, to please have him go to the kh for the study.
they ignored her worries and he continued to attend at her home.

so I joined the Catholic Church or the Baptists or (insert religion) they do a background check? i could see one having done if you become an elder, priest, pastor, etc. but not for a lay member.
