we need to examine the earliest known descriptions of the kind of crucifixion adopted by the romans and the specific terms they used to refer to it.
apparently the society believes that crux still meant "stake" in the second century a.d., when tacitus composed his annals.

Recipes for Pig Tails
by snowbird inwhen i was a child, my mother used to cook pig tails a lot.. she would stew them down in onions, peppers, and other spices.
then she would dust them lightly with flour and brown them in the oven.
they were simply delicious.. i haven't had any for a while now due to blood pressure problems.

Avoiding an Elder
by R.F. ini'm almost six months past walking away from the religion, and one of the elders has risen and thrown a monkey wrench into my entire plan.
things have been great actually.
since i've managed to shed myself of congregation responsiblities, the elders have gotten off my back quite a bit.

One think I know for sure is that he will give up....unless it involves him or his family. I wold say, "no, I don't see any reason we have for speaking" and then leave. I have a lock on my fence to be drivway. It is called "the witness protection program" they cant get in.

Angels, Angels everywhere! (need research help)
by lovelylil injust wondering what the societies official stance is on angel decorations or figurines??.
i guess i did not pay too much attention to this when i was in the borg, probably assuming they would believe having such things in your home was either; opening it up to satan or that it is a form of idolatry.. this q came up in a conversation with my brother today because i was telling him about a new angel figurine i bought for my collection (starting collecting about 3 years ago) and he used to study with the witnesses, so he is like "isn't having those against the bible?".
he swears he was told this by the elder he studied with but cannot recollect a scripture to support this view.

Of many things I can't agree with I have to say that "hell' and the "trinity" are obviously pre biblical teachings. After death? We will find out when we get there. Kind of like the "string theory" of parallel universes. Very interesting.

Looked around a lot. Went to different churches. They all seemed really "cosmetic" or social. Went to Unitarian...felt weird. Tried a group "Bible Study" and got YELLED at when they started out with John 1:1 and I simply said that there were different translations or presentations of this scripture. So much for that one. Anyplace where one person is the Capo de Tutti Frutti is a turn off. Forget Catholic, Protestant, Spirit filled, snake handling, secret meetings in the woods, dancing in the nude (although that isn't bad when it's not religion), animal or human sacrifices, clothing requirements, endless ritual, patriarchal crap, don't know much about Goddess stuff except the one person I know that is really into it and very famous is mean spirited and looking for fame and fortune (while doing some really good things and is a wonderful feminist). Not much out there thats left. As for Mormons (does anyone remember the magazine that ran the story about the "Church of Moron" the angel "Macaroni" and the "holy goggles of muck and egg") I don't know why Mitt Rhomney wants to be president as he will get his own planet, be a God, with as many wives and pump out as many kids as they want. President seems a step down. I really don't think there's anything out there. I don't know if I can even pray anymore. Maybe I should just watch "The Secret" 40 times and then I'll be rich.

Will it end
by Phil ini recently passed on some sad news regarding my medical condition and the death of my daughter and later trip to patterson for the funeral.
unfortunately the missfortune did not stop there.
i recently got word that my sister was deathly ill and before i could get to her bedside she passed.

Yipes that is a lot!!! I am sorry. I have a friend with Leuk. and she is really doing well thru diet and exercise. She was diagnosed about 3 years ago and is healthier than most people. There's hope .
