Damn, they are trying to downplay it.. Although I can't see them giving it up entirely. The whole JW message is to preach that Jesus has been reigning since 1914..
If they threw that doctrine out, then what would they have left?
maybe they're keeping the doctrine but they are not writing about it as much in the watchtower.. below are statistics from their 07 cd showing how many times 1914 was mentioned in the watchtower for each year 1950 to 2006 .
i have divided the years 1950 2006 into segments of eight excepting for the last, which is nine.. on the side i have the average for those years.
notice they have gone from 88.87 a year to 24.44. .

i wonder if anyone has any ideas on this.
who, what is behind the wts.
is it just men genuinely making mistakes but are sincerely trying to serve god?
They're not being dishonest. They're using Theocratic War Strategy to spread their "truth" all over the world...
it's weird because i haven't had anything to do with the jws for years now, but i still dream about going to the kh very occasionally.
the last time i dreamed about going there, there was apparently going to be a special meeting where some hugely important news was going to be announced, and my mom begged me to come with her, until i finally caved.
this is weird in itself, because she hasn't had anything to do with the jws for years either, although i think it's possible she could relapse.. anyway, we're at the meeting, and this biker guy comes into the auditorium and starts heckling the speaker.
Wow, uh.. Yeah. No I don't think I've ever had a dream like that.
Good luck with that. Let's hope that never happens in my lifetime...
it's time for my once every 3 years visit.

Wow, look at the way the New International Version words verse 16:
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
I agree with you, MMae. Paul was clearly talking about that it doesn't matter what you celebrate, and that you shouldn't judge others if they celebrated a New Moon festival. We should all come together as one Body with Christ as our Head. Very interesting, indeed..

You're reading too much into the context. Here, let me clarify the text for you:
16 Therefore let no man judge YOU in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of an observance of the new moon or of a sabbath, except when you become one of Jehovah's Witnesses;
Just kidding! Seriously, though, it shouldn't matter what holiday you celebrate when and where. Some converted Christians (who were Jews) still celebrated Jewish holidays, even though they weren't Jewish anymore.
and it felt good "lowest sum of the earth" are we that evil because some of us decide to leave and choose a life that we want wheather it be with some goals and asperations or seeking another route of worship/non-worship, while still being alive on this earth today .
xoco.
I concur with everyone's comments.
Don't give up your education for NO ONE! It will pay off in the long run. You never know when someone (a close family member) is going to need your help financially. Well, especially your parents.
if the end does not come in 10 years then nothing is going to change.
here is my reasoning.. in our hall we have friends whose grandparents thought the end was coming in 1914 then in 1925.. well they died and still our friends believe the end is near.
our friends had parents who.
If the end doesn't come in 10 years, then.. maybe Franz's rantings were off by 100 years, and the TRUE ending will be in... 2075!! long after I'm probably gone...
I had begun my research on the WTS in late 2006 when I stumbled across the UN info online. By May/June of 2007, I had learned quite a bit more about JW history, and one of the red flags for me too was the April 07 WT. It made me upset to see the GB hold themselves so high, thinking that no one would learn any bible truth without them and I called it BS (I was sitting in a KH when this happened)... By the end of 2007, I've been fully aware of most of the WT schemes, their clever, manipulative words, that will never affect me again.
For me.. the one thing I think about the most was the hope that the WT gave all those people for decades.. and then to see it flutter away in the wind as if the WT never promoted it... that's what still keeps me away... I feel sorry for the millions still captivated by the myth...
i am inspired to start this thread because of something i read on another thread.. burn the ships says it doesn't matter if you are baptised by an athiest or an elder, as long as it's done the right way.. so, since every religion has their spin on "the right way".... what concrete example did jesus give in this ritual?.
can any of you find any actual description of jesus dunking someone in water to baptise them?.
all i find is that jesus "baptized" by giving words of instruction.. .
Personally, I don't think the JW way of getting baptized is correct. They only baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy bOrganization. Leaving out the Holy Spirit would make it invalid, IMO.
the question is- what two publications should be studied with interested ones?
they go on about the bible teach book for starting a bible study, it's ok to use some other tract, after the bible teach is worship god book.
they should finish both books even if qualifying for baptism before then.
Here's a question (preferably for any current Witnesses lurking around):
Why does it take 2 books to convert a person? Did Jesus and his apostles take this much time to preach to someone?
