iam now as what was announced at a recent meeting that iam "no longer a jehovah's witness" all of my family and friends are witnesses so this will ailenate me from all of my friends and family.

but i feel like i don't want to go back.

i really hate the feeling of isolation and shamefulness while iam sitting in the meeting, what's the point of it all.

The witlesses are assholes! It makes me so made when I read a post like yours. Hang in there...remember that you are not wrong, THEY are.

I myself am DF'd. Have been for over 16 years, so I know how you feel. The jw's do NOT have the truth. Consider this; Does the God that you know as Jehovah seem like a loving God to you? I'll bet He doesn't. They can't even get the point across that God IS LOVE. Get out and explore. You will know it when you have found the real God..believe me, it's NOT the one those lame-brained simpletons otherwise known as jw's worship. Sorry is this comes across as bitter, but I really get mad when I read an experience like yours. It makes me hate the jw's all over again.

awile back i took a ex jw to a church service and some one found out she was a jw or ex jw.

the paster said to her that god always loved her and today he has some speceal love for her and she broked down and cried.

she told me that in all the years as a jw she never know if god love and would destroy her if she missed a meeting or did not do enought field service.

I felt EXACTLY the same as you erynw. That's the only time that I've heard it put that way. I felt like my prayers were banging of the ceiling..very strange feeling, but real.

why is it better to "fade"?

i've been reading various posts and i notice that fading is often advised by others who have done so or wish they had done so.

why is this better than being df'd?

i'm assuming it's because your family will not shun you if you are merely da'd ?

One positive thing about being DF'd is that you don't have to listen to their witness bs, in fact, they CANNOT (ideally) witness to you. The decision to shun you is up to them. Remember, YOU don't have the problem, THEY do! I like the DF'd status because it's a "clean break". You have the right to make your own statement to them...exercise your right. I've been DF'd for over 16 years, it takes some time, but they come back around (in their own deranged way).

Feel like crying sometimes- Student Loan Debt

i went to a tech school because it seemed like a great idea at the time; i didn't even give community college a thought back then.. anyway, the total program cost something like ~$36k.

this was 4 years ago.

i was only 17.. i didn't learn anything, and now i have this massive debt.. the lender is sallie mae, and yes, i know they're horrible.. i am going to find out how many loans i have and hopefully, i won't have any private loans.. so, i was wondering if consolidation is a good idea?.

The main thing to remember is keep talking with them. Whatever you decide to do, keep the channels of communication open with them. I have dealt with my own student loans...the only times that they were hateful was when I avoided them. Remember that video they made you watch when you accepted them? Sucks that it was all true! Those freakin loans go wherever you go...like luggage. All the best.

My Witness Sister Asks Me For Her Inactive Daughters Phone Number ?

amazingly enough my jw sister ( very self righteous ex-gilead graduate ) called me for the first time in 3 years asking for her own 32 year old inactive daughters phone number .

her husband's mom died last friday , my brother -in -laws mom , and she said she had not talked with her daughter, my niece , in 5 years.

my sister dissapproved of her daughter getting a law degree at a university in california and shunned her for 5 years because her daughter stopped going to meetings to get an education !

Your post just hit me so hard. It boggles the mind how the organization messes up families. I know that wording isn't strong enough to express our disgust with the WTB$, but it's the best I can do right now. Merry Christmas to you and yours...

One thing that helps is realizing that YOU are not the one with the problem, THEY are. Remember, you finally know that you want to be a normal, sane person that fits into general society. Your family are the ones with issues. It's tough though....all the best to you.

How hardcore?

i've slowly found out that my hubby was a great big jw in his active days.

he's been inactive now for about 5 years.

he has only attended 1 memorial and one assembly recently to supposedly appease his father that came into town to have to drive 1.5 hrs to attend the one in our area.

I was pretty "hardcore" myself. Regular aux pioneer in both Spanish and English congs. Dad and all my uncles elders (they still are), etc... It took years for me to realize that they don't have "the truth". But the pull of the WTBS is strong. Up until a few years ago, when times were tough or emotional issues would come up, I would think about how easy it would be just to go back...I would get my family back, everything would be cool. But eventually one (at least me) becomes completely free from the society's BS. I realized that going back is not the answer...working out your on salvation is what it's all about.

Raised a JW from birth...

i am now 31 and after leaving the "truth" in my teenage years i was plagued with anger towards the organization as well as christianity in general.

has anyone come to read the teachings of the buddha and found them a refreshing and eye opening insight into the nature of reality?

not long ago i picked up a book entitled "awakening the buddha within", and have found spirituality in a way that i could never find in the jehovah's witnesses organization.

Finding your own path is an exciting prospect. After being freed from the shackles of the WTBS you realize how many options you now have. Strangely enough...the one scripture that was shoved down our collective throats as Witnesses is that "we shall know the truth, and the truth will set us free". I never truly understood how true and beautiful that scripture is until I left the JWs. Enjoy find your own truth now! You deserve it.

I was raised as a JW. Typical bad childhood memories associated with being raised that way. Around the time I turned 16, I started doubting things...never really could "make the truth my own". Funny, it was at that very time that I was baptized! (family pressure, 3rd generation JW). After getting baptized, I was PR'd about 4-5 times. Was DF'd at 22. Got back in, then DF'd the second time at 24. You guys know how it goes...lost EVERYBODY, family, so-called "friends", you name it. Haven't been back since....the last 17 years have been, by far, the best of my life.
