New method of distributing magazines
by jah1914 indon't know if someone already commented on this.
i did a search and did not find anything.
not that big of a deal, but the concept of having a personal order of the magazines is going away effective immediately.

WELCOME TO THE BEST WAY OF LIFE! "Both if we live and if we die we belong to Jehovah.”--ROM. 14:8.
They twist and mistranslate scripture again.
Read in context Rom 14:5-10 (NIV)
5One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. 8 If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat

How did 1975 effect your family? here's mine...
by Aussie Oz ini just spent a few days with my dad.
i asked a few questions about the time when mum became a witness which i know is still, 38 years later, a painful thing for him to talk about.
in the course of it, he also learned some stuff that he did not know about the pressures of the times.. as i expected, mum and dad have different versions of this time, and it is pretty hard to find the real truth in it and in some ways it does not matter anymore.. mums version: she first was contacted in echuca late 1960s and dad put a stop to it.

I'm in England, started studying with JWs in March 1971, baptised January 1972, I was 20 yrs old.
The Elder who took my study , only brought the 1975 date up when studying the "Freedom everlasting" book.
And then it was , 6,000 years since Adam created.
And that was it, no Armageddon is going to happen then.
It was never mentioned again.
In fact I very rarely heard it mentioned at meetings if at all. There were no sisters running round saying "Armageddons coming"
In 1973 I met the JW sister who was to become my wife, and we never discussed 1975.
We married in July 1974.
Had our first child in OCTOBER 1975!
No one in that time ever said to us about having a child so close to "the end"The congregation continued to grow after 1975, we had to split in two.
Then by late 1980's we had to get a bigger KH.I always put it down to, that we had Elders who had their heads screwed on.
They were guys who were 50 - 70 years old, either born JWs or had been most of their lives.
I think they played a keep it calm and wait and see attitude.I have met other ex-JWs here, who have spoken how in their congregations it was taken seriously.
I've spoken to a guy, ex-JW Elder, whose parents sold up their business and home to go and preach.
They died still believing the WT was right.I have come across a wide range of stories.
Some like mine were 1975 didn't figure at all.
Others were it was taken up, seriously. It just seems to vary from congregation to congregation.

Funny moments at the field service
by XPeterX ini once went door to door with a 300+ lbs (fat) elder and the first guy who came out told him:"you should look like him" pointing at me with his finger.at first i didn't realise what he was talking about.at the end the man said to the elder clearly:"lose that fat and get thin like that young man (me)"the elder got embarassed and said "ok i will" (never did tho) but i couldn't stop laughing .

A brother and I called at a house one afternoon.
The door was answer by a young guy (20ish), bare-chested, who hid rest of his body behind door.
I could here the brother behind me trying not to laugh.
I then glance down and saw they though the guy was hiding behind the door, it was glass fronted.
We could see he was completly naked.
Yet he still stayed there as I made my presentation.
So I delibrately streched it out, just waffling on.
After about 10 minutes a female voice came from upstairs.
"John , you coming back up here."
The guy went red.
So I said "Well I see you have other things to do. I'll just leave you these magazines."The brother and I walked down path trying not to burst into laughter.

Exactly How Did (Jehovah) God Scramble the Languages
by Kum Vulcan inwe all know the account in gen 10: 1-10, where jehovah scrambles the languages of the people building the tower so they can't communicate with each other anymore.. and exactly how was this accomplished?.
on the physiological level, speech and language is "coded" by physical connection between neurons in our brains.
there is much more to be explored by science on this and it surely is well beyond my knowledge on the subject, but nevertheless we can all agree that learning a language, be it a native tongue or a second, third, etc language later in life requires time and effort for those neuron connections to form.. rewind back to said gen account.

There was a case recently were a English woman who suffered brain damage and started speaking with a Chinese accent.
Other cases were people have started to speak in a foreign language , which they didn't before, after brain damage.
So does all it take to alter your language just mean a rewiring of the brain?

The point in time when I realised that I would one day no longer be a Jehovahs Witness
by jambon1 inthis was after my 'honeymoon' period of being a new jw.
yet, it was still a couple of years before i actually left.. i remember sitting in the kh listening to the meeting & my mind wandered.
i started looking around the congregation.

I had done a couple of years research on the WT.
Then one evening during the Service Meeting, in August 1999, it hit me.
Watching the brother give the talk, seeing him use the correct "gestures" as laid down in the TMS book.
Hearing words I had heard at every meeting for the past 25 years.
Looking at the congregation all going through the same motions I had seen time and time again.
Most of them trying to look interested. Children falling asleep.
Then it hit me, I NO LONGER BELIEVED this stuff anymore!
That was my last meeting.

Gourmet Coffee Thrown Out Because Of Yoga Exercising JW!
by minimus inhere's a good one!.
my obsessed jw relative had another witness come and visit for a few weeks in her home.
the witness woman is around 225 lbs.
-
Gordy
So the visitor had to call an inactive Witness who knows the visitor and the inactive Witness now is putting up the exercising woman.
So she sent the "demon-possessed" woman to another JW ??
Or did she think that the other JW being "inactive" it was OK to do.

Have any of you had experiences with a spouse who puts loyalty to thier parents and the organisation over you?
by captain ini'm going through this at the moment and very disillusioned - especially when i find that people who i thought were my good friends (read: elders) are actually siding with my spouse..

In 1996 I had a breakdown, later diagnosed as Acute clinical depression.
After about 6 months the Elders advised my wife to get me to leave the family home.
This because they considered me a "spiritual danger" to the family.
She found me a place to live and even paid the deposit on it.In 2001 I disassociated , after much research into the WT.
Since then my JW wife and two JW daughters have not spoken or had contact with me.

Does anybody in London know anything about this???
by brizzzy ini'm a californian, but a good friend in london just texted me saying there's a blitz of about 50 jehovah's witnesses in croydon right outside of where she's eating loaded up with watchtowers and setting up a stall and a speaker with a megaphone.
she also says that some of them are women in wheelchairs and that they're rolling in front of passers by and blocking them when they try to ignore them.
she says all of the pedestrians are telling them to fuck off and leave them alone because they're not interested in a cult, haha.. is this something new that the society is encouraging over there (or even more scary, everywhere?

Interesting to see if its true.
When I was a JW they had a hard enough job trying to get us to do "street witnessing".
Just talking to people as we walked along.
If it wasn't someone at a door many JWs very nervous about doing it any other way.Settng up a stall etc, I don't seeing it happening round here.
If they did maybe some ex-JWs can set up a stall opposite.
