  I agree.
  I also have a hard time keeping up with this one.
  I feel bad because Im sure I miss many good threads.
  When I heard about Kents site, I went to check it out, logged on and looked for familiar posters. I never joined in though.
  It seemed to me that there was just too much controversy.
  When I was going to check out some points that some had made about Kents site and censorship, I wasnt even able to access the site. Kent said somthing about "system failure". Who knows.....
  I dont think its wrong if someone wants to chat somewhere else
  but I think I'll just stick with you guys over here. Theres more than enough drama on this one. Besides, I must admit, I like it here and I feel quite attatched to you all!!! Love ya' !! Smooches and hugs!!!!!!!!

  "Spare the rod, spoil the child".
  Thats what J.W.s practiced and preached when I was growing up.
  My mother gave us hair pullings, soap in the mouth, big whoopins in the hall bathroom and at home. She was a single J.W. mother. I think she took her stress out on me and my sister quite a bit.
  I almost forgot about it but at my grandfathers funeral, I was talking with one of my cousins who is also a single mother. Her 7 year old son was fidgiting in his seat so she back handed him across his face, right at the table in front of everyone! I couldnt believe it! Her sister told me she was concerned because she had seen her drag her son by his ears or his hair and slapp him around many times.
  This isnt limited to J.W.s. I know of other religions who have also supported this behavior.

  Child porn should not be compared to "Playboy" because the women in Playboy are adults. These women make the personal decision to pose for the pictures and are getting paid. Putting children in the same catagory as the models in Playboy is absurd. These children are victims and have most likley been forced into it or dont even understand what they are involved in.

  I also feel that there is a big difference between the pictures in Playboy and hard core internet pornography.
  If I found a Playboy in my sons bedroom, It wouldnt bother me at all. Well, right now it would because hes only four years old. If he was older, I wouldnt be upset. On the other hand if I knew he was addicted to demeaning or hard core internet porn that depicted women as objects rather than people, me and my husband would have to sit down and have a talk with him. I think its our responsibility to make sure our kids know whats real and whats not.
  I think we are all aware that everyone enjoys looking at attractive people. I dont think there is anything wrong with it, as long as people arent being abused or degraded in the process.

  i just stumbled onto this website whilst messing about on the internet and i've taken exception to quite a lot of what i've seen here.

  incase you think i'm some irate jehovah's witness idiot who's been offended by the terrible blasphemy that he's read on here, i'm not.

  i was raised a jw, but now i'm not one.. first of all, given the url, i thought this website was in some way affiliated with the jehovah's witness organization, whereas in reality it seems from the posts i've read that most people here are either former jehovah's witnesses or soon-to-be former jehovah's witnesses.

  Why expose the hypocrisy of the W.T.S?

  Because I can.

  Because I speak truth.

  Because people have died from J.W. false doctrines.

  Because families are being torn apart by the J.W. "religion".

  Because I dont want others to suffer like my family has from J.W. false doctrines.

  Because if someone else hadnt exposed their hypocrisy to me, I would still be a slave to the society.

  Just returning the favor.

  Yes,
  I hardly ever watch t.v. but today when my son asked me to turn on the VCR, I noticed Oprahs topic. I had to tune in, since my husband is Catholic, it was a sensitive subject.
  I cant believe that priests were just transferred to different parishes, even though they were known child molesters. My husband mentioned somthing to me when we were dating that I never gave much thought until later. I used to ask him about confession etc. since I knew nothing about the Church. One time he mentioned how the priest asked him, during confession, when he was about 10 years old, "Do you masturbate or touch yourself?". Of course he lied and told him "no".
  Im wondering now, seeing how innapropriate the question was, if he would have said yes, would the priest have taken it further?
  Normally at his church, they have confession and there is a screen between the priest and the person confessing but in this case, he said it was face to face and he was very uncomfortable.
  He doesnt remember the who the priest was because it was so long ago.
  His church does switch priests very frequently.

  Im a little worried that the J.W. Dateline segment wont get the proper attention since this story is so large right now. Then again, it may actually be good if dateline does the J.W. story soon, while people are still angry over the Catholic scandal.
  I think anytime children are affected, people tend to act more quickly.

  in the context of this forum, happiness at its core is generally defined in one of two ways: a) being a witness or, b) not being a witness.

  most of us consider ourselves happier since leaving the organization.

  because of a recent discussion between violetanai and marilyn, i've thought about it some more, only to reaffirm the truth i already discovered some time ago.

  I am also much happier and at peace with my life out of the Org.
  Not only because I no longer harbor the guilt and feelings of inadequacy by never living up to the Orgs. expectations but also because I know that everyone is NOT going to be killed in Armageddon.
  I was so sick of hearing how Jehovah was going to torture and kill everyone who wasnt a J.W. I knew it was morbid and I didnt think a loving God would do such a thing. I remember telling my aunt that if thats how God was, then I didnt want to worship such a cruel God.
  Pretty brave for being as young as I was and not knowing anything more than it sounded cruel to me. Imagine my surprise and anger when I found out about all the falsehoods of the org.
  I love having the peace of mind that everyone has hope, not just J.W.s.

  Me, go to the memorial?
  My family quit inviting me last year.
  They are probably afraid that I will partake since I believe everyone should, not just the 144,000.
  I actually forgot about it untill my sister mentioned it a few minutes ago while we were having coffee. "Well, the memorial is in 20 minutes" she says. "wanna go"? Im like, Uhhhh, lets not........
  My older sister was invited by a J.W. friend today so she decided to finally drop the bomb and tell her that she didnt believe in the org. so she didnt feel the need to go. This was a big step for my sister because she has been sitting on the fence for awhile. She knew how she felt but always kept quiet to keep peace.
  She asked her J.W. "friend" not to mention anything to our J.W. family about her disbelief and the woman said, "Why wouldnt you want your family to know, shouldnt they know how you feel?" My sister, like myself, is careful and only used scriptures to prove her disbeliefs but Im pretty sure this J.W. "friend" of hers wont be keeping any secrets and she will be getting some phone calls tonight from our family.
  And those are the days of our lives..................................

  ok ok ok so i stole englishman's phrasing.. one thing i'd been noticing about a certain troll's posts, they seem to center around personal accomplishments.. perhaps, that's not such a bad thing.

  this person obviously isn't getting any encouragement to pursue "selfish desires" by the congregation, therefore he and others feel the need to go bragging.. growing up jw doesn't exactly encourage your creativity; on the contrary it stifles artistic expression and personal growth.. so perhaps there is something that *you* can do very well (or not so well but it's still your thang as jt would say) that is very special.. we all know that dave (seven) is great at art, and tr can pick any damn lock he chooses, but what about the rest of us?.

  Well according to my J.W. family Im "good as dead".
  Seriously, Im not sure if Im good at these things but people have complimented me on my floral arranging, interior decorating and baking, not to be confused with cooking, I am not skilled in the cooking dsepartment. I guess Im just not into the raw meat thing.
