Hmmm,
I guess I was the one who first pointed out the fact that vulger language was used in the letter however, I wasnt against it being used, I was admiring Farkils self control in saving it for the very end of the letter. -

My JW daughter told me....
by Yadira Angelini inwe were driving in her car a couple of weeks ago, (the night i have visited her kh) and she told me, that she was going to postpone her november trip to italy; instead, she was thinking about going when the new system was here.
i asked her amusedly: "are there going to be airplanes on the new system?"...
she responded: "well.... we are going to be using our 100% of our brains".

I'm New - my story
by Judith_01 inhi everyone, i too have been lurking for a few weeks and thought it was time i made myself known.
i am not a jw but i am married to a man who is from a multi-generational family of jw's (although he has not been to meetings since he was old enough to object).
although i have never had any direct involvement with the organisation itself, i find my life is constantly infulenced by these people who judge, shun and avoid my husband and i (i guess they don't want to mix with "worldy people" such as us).

Pricia,
I personally wasnt offended by it but I dont understand the need to bring up something like that? I honestly would have never thought of such a petty thing like, how many people read this without posting. I dont understand why it would even need to be mentioned? Its like you had to point out the fact that others didnt post to make your post somehow seem more valid or compassionate or something. Maybe the first 10 readers were people who have never posted, just readers, afraid to post etc.
Correct me if Im wrong but when I first started posting on this board you were pointing out that certain posters were "Always editing their comments" like it was some kind of terrible thing.
Seems to me like that comment you made about "more important things to worry about" could also apply to yourself. -

Yes,
and its always good to save the vulgar language for the end because putting it in the first sentence could cause them not to read the entire letter.
Very well thought out.
I hope its in the mail as we speak. -

Hi,
Welcome.
Im come here whenever I can break away from the daily grind. chores, kids, work etc. Its nice to touch base with others who can relate.
I hear ya'.
I too noticed major judgmental behavior and gossip at the hall and in my own J.W. family. I think exposing other peoples faults somehow helped them feel a little less guilty about their own.Prisa,
"hmm, 10 readers and not one person has said hi. Oh well, I guess I'll have to be the first."Im sure hearing that made this poster feel good.

Hypocricy of paid holidays...
by KistByQpid inother than my mom, the only other jw i've ever had any real life experience with was a co-worker.
actually, i was her supervisor and there is one thing that never made sense to me.
she would aggressively attempted to "witness" to everyone (my supervisor had to eventually tell her to cool it) well, everyone pretty much respected her beliefs and knew better than to invite her to any birthday celebrations, etc.

Very true.
Where I work, we get our birthday off "paid".
I cant imagine a witness saying, "Im sorry, I just cant do it. Its against my religion". -

Thank you nic,
This is very helpful. Even if some here have previously known these things, its good to put this out now and again for anyone who may not be aware. I wish I would have had access to this information few years ago when my family was dealing with this issue. -

Smurfs & Cabbage Patch belivers
by JAVA ini'm reading a riveting memoir of a woman's immersion into fundamentalist faith, and her decision twenty years later to leave it behind.
it's called, this dark world, a memoir of salvation found and lost, by carolyn s. briggs (published by bloomsbury, ny, 2002).
i thought some might enjoy reading the following on pages 190, and 191:.
