There is no good reason to leave

i have been thinking of this all night.

have you ever tired to tell on of the witnesses that you are happier and doing better outside of the truth?.

no matter what you say it is never a good reason to leave.

The WTBS makes it appear that if you get a higher education or pursue a career that materialism

will choke you to death. You would become so unhappy if you did not make the ministry your first

priority.

I remember a doctor who got baptized. This doctor was not a pioneer.

He was not regular in the field ministry or the meetings because of his occupation. Yet the elders

and the co wanted to get on his good side. Even used him in the congregation. Apparently his

career did not choke him to death.

My happiest times are enjoying my secular work, my hobbies, being with my immediate family, and

volunteering in helping the homeless and disadvantaged. You can trully be happy in doing what

you trully enjoy in life.

i think that some people deserve to be excommunicated, such as pedophiles.

but what about the tens of thousands of others that have their life wrenched out from under them by being disfellowshipped?.

and what about those that have a family member that died because of not receiving a blood transfusion?

I once thought the WTBS was the best. But when you receive unjust, unscriptural, unloving treatment from the elders, my views suddenly changed. The WTBS know that elders can make serious mistakes, that is why they provide a means to appeal their decisions. But what is really bad is when a CO can influence body of elders to come to the wrong conclusions. Even though I made a final appeal to the Branch Office, they have absolutely no idea what is going on and automatically go with the local elders decision. Why have an appeal if the appeal process is also flawed.

When my daughter was disfellowshipped, the elders insisted that she had to be kicked out of the house. I got dragged down with her when I did not remove my daughter out of the house. The WTBS change their policies and say that the light is brighter. Now the policy of disfellowshipped children living in the parents home is different, but the elders do not come by and say they are wrong in their previous decision. When an individual elder talks to one, he states that the decision should never have taken place or that the Branch should have caught the error. But when this same elder is with another elder, he states that the decision was proper.

I did not make the mistake, the WTBS just changed to harmonize their stand with my original actions. Why should I go through the process to please the Organization when they made the original mistake. Therefore I continue with my life, though it is difficult when jw family relatives avoid me like the plague. What makes me sick is that if my daughter would have been disfellowshipped just a few years later (after the WTBS policy change), this scenerio would have been entirely different.

you want to buy a new car and you go into a new car dealership.

as soon a you go in the salesman put a gun to your head and says it you do not buy a car i will blow your brain out and kill you.

Definitely Armageddon is to keep JWs in line. Then they add a global paradise to sugar coat the worldwide disaster. If it is Hellfire or Armageddon it is suppose to comfort the heart that the unbelievers will be destroyed.

KH weddings

i did not want to hijack the other thread on kh funerals.

when i got married, my wife and i were married at the kh.

i wanted a particular family member as my best man but because he was not a baptized brother, they would not allow it.

My son married an elder's daughter in Hawaii on the beach. It was presided over by an elder from one of the congregations in Hawaii. Only relatives and close family members attended because of the cost of the plane flight from the mainland. It was fun having a vacation in Hawaii and not having to dress up in a suit for a wedding at a KH and having to run into various arrogant brothers.

Glad you joined. I remember a Circuit Overseer threatening some elders about their mustaches. He said that they would no longer qualify as elders if their kept their mustaches. The CO moved on before taking any action and the new CO saw no problem. Beards are another story as bluecanary highlighted.

Total Strangers...would you believe and do whatever they tell you?

that is what i did the first 45 years of my life.

because i was born in...fourth generation...i really did not have much of a choice since i tried to be a good son....my doubts started at 19, but i had been bad enough in high school that i became a pioneer for a year and a half as a form of penance to my parents....soon thereafter, wife and kids and job became a big distraction....and life just happened as it does to must born in dubs........ now that i am out i realize that all of what i was and did and spewed at doors....was actually accepted by me from total strangers!!

!.......that i had never even met!!!

Yes but these strangers initially are so friendly and kind. They carry a Bible and a publication that helps explain the Bible. Though individual members may try to follow the Bible as a guide, the WTBS doesn't. They set the "rules" and "guidelines" that is different from what the Bible really teaches.

Hopefully the US Supreme Court follows the lead of the Canadian Court. The WTBS policy on blood is sooo wishy washy.

Could Watchtower Collapse Be Sooner Than You Think?

there have been a number of developments over the past few months and they paint an interesting picture.. witnesses can keep dragging themselves to meetings ad infinitum however, the future of the watchtower itself is another story.

the evidence of continuing cash flow problems is now overwhelming.

if you talk to well placed witnesses, most won't deny it but simply blame it on the publishers financial problems.. they have cut off loans to congregations many of whom genuinely need new kingdom halls.

Very interesting post that Lost-In-Translation made. If the magazine pickup is actually changing, then the WTBS would probably send the congregation a set number of magazines based on the number of publishers, just like they do for tracts. In this way the WTBS can control how many magazines to produce and distribute instead of the publishers dictating the need to the WTBS. This is certainly a method to save on their costs if they are financially strapped.

15if a witness makes decisions on the basis of bible counsel offered by the governing body, he does so of his own volition because his own study of the bible has convinced him that this is the proper course.

"let's think about this. you do something that brings you before the elders then. the elders tell you what you should do. you do it and it backfires. your fault, you listened to them. now...try this. you go before the elders for something. the elders tell you what you should do. you do not do it. you get kicked out like yesterdays trash.

i get it now. you are screwed either way."

That personnally happened to me. First I receive counsel in how to raise my child. When that didn't succeed, then it was my fault. My child gets DF. The elders then tell me that my child "MUST LEAVE HOME". When I ignored the counsel I get screwed. Of course when the WTBS later changes their views of family and DF children, the elders do not correct the past hanging of the parents.

Have you ever written a letter to the WTBS and gotten an answer?

I wrote the WTBS because a Circuit Overseer informed me that I was not to be used in the congregation because of a problem that a brother had with me.

So I wrote the WTBS for clarification, I received an answer that told me that I needed to follow Matthew 18 and resolve the problem with the brother. I wrote the WTBS back explaining that the brother will not meet with me. They wrote back to me that I needed to meet with the local body of elders to find out what the problem is.

I then rewrote the Society explaining that the local body of elders were not sure what the problem is and that it was a decision of the Circuit Overseer. The WTBS then stopped writing me back, though I resent the letter several times for a reply.

That brother was made a Ministerial Servant 3 months later and an elder a year later and I was never used in the congregation since. Whatever the problem was that the brother had with me that disturbed the Circuit Overseer was never known or resolved.
