  Have you ever wanted to punch a Circuit Overseer or his wife?

  i was reading another post about a "dear old circuit overseers wife" and it immediately brought back to mind an experience i had with one that wasn't so dear at all .

  .. i "knew" this woman before she went into the circuit work with her husband.

  granted, i didn't know her well - but i had moved into her congregation a few weeks before she and her husband left to go into the circuit work.

  I get so upset about things like that. I don't know how I would have reacted probably by telling her off. You know these CO's have this mentality too because I remember the speakers used to say that young couples should wait until "after Armageddon" to have children. And at the same time they want to tell men in some Awake article to not get a vasectomy because somehow that was construed to be against a Bible scripture. (I cannot think what year that was) But anyhow, they can't have it both ways!

  I say, personally that if you have enough of a support system and you plan to have a baby that is entirely your choice, your life, your business and if anyone doesn't congratulate you when you are expecting then they are just jealous.

  Humility to these EGO-TRipping Watchtower writers refers to their enslavement and guilt-tripping of the RF witnesses. It never referes to their false claims or "mis-calculations" and how many people were mislead by their interpretations. Is any member of the "Governing Body" willing to pay for the costs of all the retired people who gave up everything because they believed "Millions Now Living will never Die?"

  This cult is so hypocritical that I'm just really glad I left.

  Thanks for your hard work in putting this material together for us.

  i just want to point out how they start the 2006 study article, the first paragraph only.. a young man wanted to be more useful in his congregation.

  He simplified his life, resigned from his job, and in time found employment that did not interfere with his Christian activities. Today, he earns much less than before, but he still cares for his family's needs and is much better able to support the congregation.

  So, if an unexpected expense came up, say his car broke down, he (or one of his children) suddenly becomes ill, or his home needs major repairs...Wouldn't he have to work LONGER hours to make the money needed for the unexpected expenses?

  Where is the logic in earning much less??? Especially if he is the head of a family??? Will not his decision to "earn much less" prevent him from caring well for his family's needs? (and miss quite a few senseless "meetings" from having to work over time.) The Bible says "He who does not provide for those who are members of his household is worse than a man without faith."

  The idiots in Brooklyn, who churn up these stupid, hypnotic, senseless crap would rather have a young man --or woman--slave for them while neglecting his/her family. WHat a bunch of non-sense.

  Wake up people who still go to these meetings.. you are being used to further a publishig and real estate monster.

  Just an Idea....

  so, every thursday morning, my congregation does phone witnessing from about 9:30 til noon.

  its actually quite enjoyable, sitting around a table, drinking coffee, eating doughnuts, and laughing.. well, when a "householder" isn't home, a message is left including the phone number to the kingdom hall.

  often, people call back, either irate, or inquisitive.. so, i was thinking,.

  --"Kingdom Hall" (in Carolina, Texas, West Virginia, etc.)

  "Hi, I'm out of town right now, but in checking my message at home I found out you all called me offering a free home Bible study. Is that right?"

  --Yes!

  "Well, I won't be returning back to (Carolina, Texas, West Virginia, etc.) for a couple of weeks, but I'd like to ask you some questions and maybe you can provide me with some Bible-based answers. Can I call this number when you will have time to answer my questions?"

  --Of Course!

  Ask about the shocking things you heard on "Dateline" regarding the failure of elders to listen to just ONE child who was the victim a crime, when this crime was commited by one of their adult members.

  Or you could say that your cousin or nephew etc. was baptized before the age of 18. Why are the Witnesses allowing young people to make a decision of this importance while they are minors? Why are they allowed and actually encouraged to abide by all the implications of baptism if they are not old enough to even get married?

  Good for you! Thanksgiving without guilt imposed on you by anyone is great!

  My former spouse used to say that Thanksgiving was "patriotic" and so it was against his (Witchtower) religion.

  I always said, "There wasn't even a country called the USA when the first Thanksgiving was observed! Are you insane. How can it be patriotic?" I got really tired of all the condemnations the Watchtower fanatics put on everything--even things that are not bad at all.

  Feels great to get away from that twisted mentality, doesn't it?

  how does someone start a thread and block certain posters (like ones they'd rather not participate) from responding to a particular thread?.

  or do we just leave ourselves open to any and every post and comment on a sensitive issue once it is started?.

  How has your marriage been affected by leaving the WTS?

  it's been exactly 2 years since i stopped attending jw meetings and it's taken a toll on my marriage.

  i expected as much but i guess you can never really prepare for the pain you have to go through when one mate no longer believes in the same things they once did.

  i think my wife has honestly tried hard (as have i) to make the relationship work but i think we're both realizing that there are some really large issues before us that will never be resolved.

  The reason that I walked out on my first husband was 75% due to him being a devout JW. (He claimed to be of the anointed during our last year together.) Incompatibility accounted for the other 25%. The day I left him I knew I would never set foot in a Kingdom Hell again--I went 1,OOO miles away and filed for divorce.

  I often think of how things "could have been" if only he had also seen the cult in its true light....

  Life still has its challenges, but freedom from mind control and from rules that make no sense really does feel 10 times better.

  those who were active jw's and married at the same time: did being in the witness religion contribute in large part to you being faithful to your spouse?

  now that you are no longer going to all the meetings or reading the bible, do you feel much more inclined to give in to all the temptations and get involved in extramarital relationships?.

  would it be risky for you to actually marry a person who said the only reason they stayed faithful in a previous marriage was because they were witnesses at the time?.

  It isn't only men but women also who either choose love or become controlled by it. Of Course. These comments ---were right on target.

  For example: A man married for only a few months notices another married woman at work. They get to talk and find that they have lots in common. Soon they are going out alone on lunch dates. They make plans in advance to continue to go out alone. They really enjoy having long discussions about work and also about their personal lives. After a few months, they realize that there is nothing that one will not do for the other. They are most happy when they are together and feel that they are in love. Does this mean:

  A. The man clearly was never really in love with his wife since just a few months after the wedding he's pracitcally head over heels in love with someone else. or

  B. He was very much in love with his wife but one cannot control who one falls in love with. It just so happens that he found out later that he loves someone else more than he does his wife.

  So, is love a deliberate decision? A well-thought-out choice?

  Or is it like a strong gust of wind that takes over our lives and no one can predict its course or resist its force?
