So you're saying that if you got hit by lightning, you could be cured of cancer?

An Electric Cancer Cure?
by metatron ini am investigating various claims from years past that certain electrical treatments could cure cancer.. see:.
http://www.cancer-treatment.net/new-alternative-cancer-treatment-options_struggle-information.htm.
dr. nordstrom ( who invented the needle biopsy) pursued research into this area and a man named.

Poll: Are You For Protests & Marches Against The Witnesses?
by minimus indo you support such marches around kingdom halls?
would you personally hold a sign up to protest the watchtower society??
do you believe this is ultimately effective to get jehovah's witnesses out of the organization??

As everyone else already mentioned, it simply enforces the persecution complex. I've never really seen or heard of these protests inflicting change within the WTS. I believe the WTS knows it doesn't do any good either so they just ignore it and let it pass. The absolute best way in getting through to jw's is by uncovering lies and coverups made by the WTS and putting those up on the web for the world to see in a private setting. A jw would never think about viewing "apostate" material let alone talk with an apostate in a public place. The chance of getting caught might be minimal, but it is nevertheless there. If they can view apostate matierial in private at home or work or even chat with us here on the board all the while being anonymous, that is the best chance for reaching them.
JW's are conditioned to look away when protesters are present. In fact, my mother, years ago, trained me to not look at the protesters outside of the DA in San Diego. Literally - don't look at them. That sticks with you for a long time.

Hilarious. Now that's my type of humor. The U2 tape/unmasking was a great setup! "It's the singles collection. You can find it in the stores now." LOL!

How has your life changed since you started at this board 7 years ago old-timer?
Me health is much better. I am no longer depressed because I have to keep going to the meetings. In so many ways, my life has literally done a 180 since I've left. I enjoy everything I do know. And I've met a ton of new people from the board that I would probably never would have met otherwise. I still remember my first "apostate" meetup. Outnfree was my first official contact.

I'm jealous Jourles that you escaped crazy dub land seven years ago! If only!
Well I didn't fully escape until a couple of years ago. I had to fade for about 6 years before getting the axe. And I would probably still be fading today if I hadn't started up dirtclod.com.
Zico -
You must have seen a lot of changes here
Something like that. It has been mostly people coming and going. In some ways I'm glad that someone can leave this board and enjoy their life without thinking about their past jw experience. And on the other hand it's sad when a long time poster leaves for good and you never hear from them again.

Has your hair turned grey yet?
Oh yeah. It's been a slow process. I honestly think it slowed down after I was df'd. Honestly. Lack of stress, maybe??

I still thought the wtbs might be right but knew I'd never go back.
And then you smack yourself on the forehead and tell yourself, "What am I thinking? The WTS might be right?? LOL!"

WOW Jourls your'e an old fart!!!
Great, rub it in.

I think its been over 2 years for me
You're such a n00b.

After that long deprogramming started that lasted well about 7 years.
Why does it take so long to fade? It definitely sucks. You must have had a lot of family 'in.'

I like seeing you old timers still posting!
Geez, again with the old grey man comments!

I was also on the old "H2O" board back then
Yep, me too. I leaned on the apologetic side during the H2O days. But when it started to falter, I was in transition mode not knowing what to believe anymore.

this board had nothing to do with my leaving
I admire those who left before the advent of the www. You had to do it your own way. You didn't have hundreds of other people coaching you on how to leave. Not only that, how were you going to find all that dirt on the WTS without help? Kudos to the ones who left in the 'early days.'
djk -
I have been here 1 month and I can't believe how much the WTBTS has changed in 33 years
And you probably haven't read most of the dirt that's out there yet. Welcome to the board.

Thanks for letting me vent.
That's what the board is here for!

fight for my daughter in custody and start over.
Are those aspects going well today?

I still scan it most days. Hardly post at all anymore. It has totally served it's purpose for me but I like to keep up with what's going on. I'm glad it's still here because it is clearly helping so many people.
You took the EXACT words out of my mouth. I have nothing else to comment on.

Talk about being put through the gamut.
I like to call it, "Life Experience." How could I possibly help someone else if I haven't been through it myself? Is a drug addict going to listen to someone who hasn't been a drug addict themselves? I certainly feel well-rounded in my jw-to-exjw transition.

It was 7 years ago that I signed up on this board. Damn. 7 years. If you were to ask me back then if I thought *this* board was going to be around in 7 years, I would have guessed "No." (as you know, many boards come and go)
I still remember exactly where I was when I signed up(I even remember the desk I was sitting at). Still going to the meetings; hadn't read CoC yet; blood issue was getting me pissed off at the WTS; just stopped giving talks; still was allowed to say prayers(very limited though). And I still have the same laptop backback from 7 years ago. That Targus just keeps on plugging along - sun faded and all.
So gimme some perspective -- how old were you back when the board first opened. What was your jw status, and what else was going on in your life 7 years ago?

has anybody seen the 300 yet?
by Crumpet inhas anyone seen this movie?
basically i know nothing about it except it might have some big war scenes in it and am going to see it on saturday night with ex mr c.

I finally saw it today. I'm not even sure how I would rate this movie. On the one hand, I was eagerly anticipating this film from several months ago when the first teasers started appearing. Yes, there was a lot of violence, but not on the scale of what I would consider shocking and make-me-wanna-hurl meter. I've seen several other real-life movies(not entirely digitally enhanced) which made me go "Ugggh." 300 did not do that to me. Let's face it, when someone got slashed and that digital blood went everywhere, none of it splattered on a person.
I was expecting the cinematography to be mind-blowing ultra fantastic. I would give 300 8/10 on this aspect. From the previews, I wanted to be wowed. It did to some extent, but not enough.
I'm going to have to break rank with the overall consensus and give it a 7.5/10. Not sure a 2nd viewing is in my future.

Let's see....I was never a big fan of the cheese danishes. But I loved the apple danishes. I can remember peeling back the plastic wrapper and the icing getting all over my fingers. I actually liked the hoagies. I helped make those things for years in the tunnel at the old Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego(now Qualcomm). I think our congregation was specifically assigned hoagie duty every year. I didn't really care for the burritos. C'mon, when you live in San Diego you can get waaay better burritos elsewhere.
At the circuit assembly lunch hall in Escondido, CA, we had an ice cream machine in the kitchen area just behind the food line tables. I usually got stuck washing dishes at those CA's, serving ice cream towards the end of the lunch hour, or handing out food behind the table. I think our congo and another was in charge of the entire kitchen area for many years.
It's amazing how good the memories feel when you look back on the good times. I don't mind hanging on to those memories as long as I can shut out everything which was said from the platform. Which, by the way, isn't too hard to do. Especially when you drift off and daydream for most of the session.

Watchtower--NGO With WANGO!
by Dogpatch inwatchtower--ngo with wango!
if the watchtower society truly believes in a "new world" then why are they joining organizations that are attempting to make this old one better?
activitieswango is unique in regularly bringing together a prestigious, international leadership of non-governmental organizations, as well as other prominent leaders, representing diverse nations, perspectives, and realms of activity, and who are integrally involved in advancing world peace and creating a better society and world.

I entered JWD into their database. It didn't show up after a few minutes so I'm guessing someone must approve the self-submittals first.

Misspeaches' comment about cracking body parts reminded me of something else...
I can crack/pop my sternum. My wife thinks I'm a freak and can't figure out how it works. It cracks when I pull my shoulders back.

- Geometry, Trig, and Calc are a breeze to me but I can fumble around in Algebra
- I began my "How do things work" phase when I was two years old by totally disassembling the kitchen table and chairs(never outgrew it)
- I can smell faint odors/scents from across the house(and it drives me nuts because I will think that the smell is right next to me)
- I DO walk indian style. When I was little, I was always intrigued how the indians could "sneak" up on people. (My dad had a cabin on the remains of an old indian village in Pine Valley, CA. Pottery and arrowheads everywhere.) Most of my shoes wear heavily on the outside heel -- from walking outside heel and rolling it to the toe. I started walking that way when I was younger and now I can't change it.
- I hate tomatoes when they are cut larger than 1/4" square, but I will devour salsa, pasta sauces, and ketchup without hesitation.
- I will eat any vegetable unless it is from the squash family.
- I squeegee myself off with my hands after taking a shower. Hey, it helps keep my towel dry!
- I like music based on, well, the music. Lyrics do not mean anything to me. If I happen to know the lyrics, it is because I've heard the song a hundred times. Even then, the words do not register. They're just words - no story or nothin'. My wife doesn't understand this about me at all. With her, it's all about the lyrics. The music comes second. I prefer to have a singer's voice be part of the music - they can sing jibberish as long as their voice sounds like an instrument.
- I can do most phases of home construction and remodeling extremely well, but my "day job" isn't remotely related.
- I'll likely never have kids due to the fact that my wife is a jw and we have differing opinions on how they would be raised.
