Can't Jehovah see for himself all the numbers? Why does He need us to put down anything? Perhaps the part should have been "Show Appreciation/Submission to the Tasteless & Disgruntled Goat Class by Counting meaningless hours"

Lets say you were born prior to the 20th century and found yourself on the Titanic on the night of April 14, 1912. Your a male. All the lifeboats are either going or have gone. What would you have done in order to try and survive? There was actually something on the ship that could have saved everyone's life, but no one thought of it............anyone want to take a guess?

That Spokeswoman that was on CNN this morning was an absolute freak of nature: her hair looked like Lilly Munster's and her apparel looked like a poorly paid hooker's rather than someone who is supposedly the Director of whatever in the "Ralien" cult. It'll be interesting to see what sort of "proof" they come up with.......guarantee it'll be pretty shaky cause I personally think they're full of sh!t............I did however, manage to get a picture of some of the members of the Ralien cult when they were in the process of cloning.........

JWs at my door
by larc inabout two months ago, two witnesses showed up at my door - the first visit in over 10 years.
they were nicely dressed in suits - two men in their mid to late 30's.
the one doing the talking presented the magazines.

Oooooh Larc, this is hilarious!! Good luck in trying to keep a straight face during your "bible study" LOL!
One thing I would definitely try though, is when they start in on how Jesus "returned" in 1914 and the insane explantion they give on how they come to this conclusion, just look at them shocked and say "Uh, the city of Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 BCE......where on earth did you get 607 BCE from?" heh-heh-heh-heh............make sure you've got some stuff to back up your claim..........their freakin' heads will have spun around by the time they leave.........the implications after all, are too enormous for them to ignore......

Best argument against a Jehovah's Witness?
by Happy indon't get me wrong, i'm not one to actively persecute jw's, i'm just wondering what you guys think is the best agrument/point to use when a pesky brother or sister just won't leave you alone.
normally, i am willing to listen to their drivel out of respect (even though i have no respect for the wt) but there are times when i am not in the mood to hear them babble.
i normally bring up the 1914 generation point, and it normally works.

Mary
I too, like the 1914 doctrine.......without that, their entire prophetic, authoritative structure collapses like a house of cards. As long as JWs believe that their Governing Body members were appointed by Jehovah in 1919, anything and everything bad that happens within the Borg itself can be dismissed or explained away. Once you take that so-called "biblical authority" away from them, they got nothin' to stand on........

Little Brother Burns Watchtower!
by OrbitingTheSun inoh my god, you guys!
some jehovahs witnesses just came to my house--and of course my latest strategy is to hide and let someone else answer the door, or not answer the door at all.
well, my younger brother is home from his first semester at college and he just happened to be near the door when they came knocking... .

I hope he asked them "does this symbolize the first death, or the second death?

The big talk with parents - need help!
by zenpunk inmy husband and i have decided to start a family this summer.
as exciting as that may be there's one issue that weighs heavily on my mind - what to do about both our sets of jw parents.
should we lay some ground rules down with them before the baby arrives (which they will probably break anyway)?

Mary
I don't think there's really a need to bring it up now......your children haven't even been born yet and so I think for the next 2 or 3 years, you're ok........however, once your kids start to talk and reason and stuff, I would make it clear to your parents that you don't want them trying to indoctrine all the crap the Society has, into your children. And if they think you won't find out if they're doing this, think again. I would stress that if you have any indication from them AT ALL that they've been telling them stuff from the Hall, that that will be the END of the relationship, end of story.

My Dad died Saturday unexpectedly...
by Nancy K inhi friends, my father died saturday morning.
i want to happily say that i sent my dad a print-out of some of your key material re;org, last week and he read it all...witnesses were 'on his back' lately, and he appreciated it.
keep up the positive focus..it is so important..i wanted to write more, but i guess i'm in shock 'cause i just can't do it...thanks to all of you for your support and help with all the stuff that i've been on the board about..peace and love to all of you and your families..nk

Mary
((((((((Nancy))))))))))
I am so sorry to hear of your fathers' passing. It is always a shock when a family member dies, especially if it was unexpected. But rest assured that whether there's something beyond this life, or a physical resurrection, I firmly believe that one day, we will all be re-united with our loved ones again.......take care.

The Government & Disfellowshipping
by Mary infrom everything i've read here, the jist seems to be that if you're disfellowshipped, you have little chance of winning a lawsuit against the borg because the government still gives them the right to "shun" members if they see fit.. it occurred to me that perhaps we're ignoring a potential ray of light at the end of the tunnel.
what if we tried to lobby the government into changing this, so that it would be illegal for any religion to shun former members?
it's a long shot maybe, but if it could be shown (maybe on another program like dateline) of how unfair, cruel and inhumane it is to tell people they must shun family members or close friends simply because they don't think the same way as them, then maybe eventually, one day, a law would be passed forbidding shunning in any religion.. it's not just ex-witnesses that would support this: ex-mormons, ex-scientologists, ex-seventh day adventists etc.
-
Mary
Mary I think because it's a religion you join, no one forces you into joining the government wouldn't look at it as something they need to control.
But that's the point: I DIDN'T join this religion, I was born into it, and so I never had any say in the matter. I never was able to "make a choice", it was made for me at birth.
