Wow! Another fine example of very angry results of a horrible childhood. I think the WT owes society a very heavy debt. It's enough to make one wish there really was a hell.

i found this interesting picture on a site someone here referenced today.
can you fathom being treated this way (persecuted) as apparently some christians were under the government of the roman empire?
(also, look at the ones impaled round about the arena there.
Hiya Yadirf,
You canot be serious! You really are astonished at the persecutions of the Christians?? How about all the folks who suffered horrible deaths at the hands of "God's people" the Israelites? Just have a look at the bible and do some body counts. There you will find far worse than anything Rome ever did.
Then of course we have cults like the WT where the members get whipped into a frenzy at the thought of the horrible deaths that 99.9% humankind will suffer.
No wonder agnositicism is "beyond you". Apparently many things are.

in the "christmas" thread, aroarer asked this:.
: ...have researched christmas in a new way and have come to realize it is not as evil as wt teaches.
the real ugliness is the wt.
Ah Farkel, old friend,
Such a sad perspective. It breaks my heart ot know how wretched so many kids have it because of some publishing company posing as god's mouthpiece. Horrible!
I am glad your experiences left you compassionate and aware of the perspectives of others. As we can see by the example this Joseph Jerkoff not everyone fared as well.
Hey send me a current addy so I can send a Pagan Seasonal Greeting, eh?

hey everyone, i am thinking of having a tree this year for the very first time since i stopped going to the kh.
although i am not disfellowshipped and i have not written a letter to disassociate, the closest friends i have had over the years as a witness have all chosen to avoid me and my family unless we return to the hall.
unofficial shunning by those who we have loved.
Greetings to all:

It helped me a lot to think of the season in non-religious terms; I concentrated on the family aspect of holiday times. The pre-Christian reasons for celebrating during the darkest time of the year made sense to me; first we honor the dead at harvest time, then we give thanks for another year's bounty, and then in the cold dark heart of the winter when the nights are longest, we make a joyful noise and bring light to the heart of that darkness with human voices and human kindness.
Since God is no longer a working member of our household, we make the most of the milk of human kindness, blend it into some tasty eggnog, and pass it around to all who pass our way. This works for us; what works for you will of course be unique to you.
If Christianity is still your paradigm, then concentrate on that aspect of the season. It's important that whatever celebrating you do be from the heart, unhindered by useless guilts and social expectations. Holidays are supposed to be joy-filled; if they're not, you're probably pushing too hard.

Bygod MD that is one eloquent piece of advice. You keep spreading enlightened, happy messages like that and you will be blowing your I-am-a-smeggin'-hardass image to bits.
Loved every word of your reply--

Hi Yadirf/Friday,
Wow that was some letter you sent off to Bethel. I was especially impressed with your utilization of WT-speak, as I am sure they were as well.
Anyhow, on to the point. You said:
:. Seriously though, perhaps you would like to assume the burden of proving to the board and me that God was the source of the "star" instead of Satan. Do you feel up to that?
Hmmm. Since you are making the assertion here isn't the burden of proof *yours*? You have posted your ideas and reasoning but no proof such as you request here from another.
:Afterall if it wasn't Satan then it must have been God, right?
Could have just been the natural order of things.
:And so I'll put the same question to you as you have put to me: Where do I find such insights in the Bible? Where exactly does the Bible say that it was God himself that caused the "star"?
Frankly I do not recall that the bible says that Satan put it there either.
:I'm sure though that you will readily admit that it boils down to having to reason on the available information given in the account, since there is no specific scripture that attests that it was God that caused what the Magi observed.
Ok so we have no specific Scripture that says God put it there. Have we one that says Satan put it there?
You need to work with a fair standard. If you demand proof you should be prepared to offer the same to back up your reasoning. There is no proof on either side of this argument. You know this to be true of the God-put-it-there argument but seem to feel this is untrue of your side of the argument(though you offer only your reasoning). You want proof of opposing views and offer none of your own. How come your mere reasoning is acceptable to build your case but proof is required of those who hold the opposite view?
All for a good argument if the rules are the same for all--

ultrasound 'melts' away fat without surgery or dieting .
by lorraine fraser, medical correspondent.
An even better idea would be to buy less food and eat less. Not only would you lose fat you'd save lots of money. Best diet program I know of is to eat when you are hungry. When you do not feel hungry anymore, stop eating. Much simpler than Burning Off Fat and easier on the body.
Julie, who would rather see folks eat less and feed the hungry than to see them eat lots and spend $$$ more dissolving fat from overeating
care to give me definitions?
of course your never completely there with the answer, until .... sorry, definitions, my mind runs away with me sometimes, a mans best friend is a dog?!!.
whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy?.
Hi Celtic,
You asked:
:a mans best friend is a dog?!!
Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy?
Oh that's an easy one. Cause men ARE dogs, silly.
Julie, who wonders how anyone could miss something so obvious
as of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.
and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .
after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk
Whew!! What a great thread! You guys rock.

this was written by izzat majeed, a pakistani writer, with slight changes made by yours truly.
the words ring so true with those changes in defining the intransigence of the wts, though:.
"we muslimsjehovah's witnesses cannot keep blaming the west satan the devil for all our ills...the embarrassment of wretchedness among us is beyond repair.
Hey Farkel,
Excellent editing work. You're right the similarities are fascinating.
ISP,
You said: "the darn religion keeps moving its goal posts. "
So right. It always reminds me of Calvin-ball--how Calvin and Hobbes always change the rules during the game. Funny.

while i'm in fighting mood over my computer being held hostage by best buy, i'm gonna attack service providers.. aol sucks!
they had the gall last week to put a hold on my account.
they claimed that it was used to send "spam", specifically an email with a commercial hyperlink.
Hi Mike,
Sounds like you have had some unpleasant experiences with those companies, I can relate. I have cable internet and no complaints. $30.00 and it runs lickety-split quick. Charter Communications is the company, not that I am found of giving my money to huge conglomerates.
Anyway, you said:
:Ok, to be honest, it will be a black market satellite tv deal, but really is there any other way?
If they didn't want just anyone to get it they shouldn't put it out over the airwaves.
Well you are entitled to your opinion of course but be careful. As far as I know what you say here wouldn't get you very far in court if you get caught. We'd hate to have to pass the hat to bail you out or anything.
Regards,
Julie
