I want to send a nice note to my sister

it's been about 5 weeks, since my sister sent me the email telling me she no longer wants to communicate with me (at this time).. i was never a jw, so i am not going to agree to those crazy terms.

i explained to her that she can do what she wants, but i will continue to be kind, and that i forgive her cruel treatment toward me.. i have given her some space, and i feel like i am ready to send her another note.

instead of bringing up any hard feelings of today, i was going to share some memories that i have of our early, pre-jw days.

Hi Faithful Witness, It is an awesome letter.

I would remove the sentence " Maybe some day you will be able to see things from my perspective." until after your relationship improves with her and you say it to her instead of writing it to her. JWs' cult personas are narsistic so your perspective is not important to it. Also, you do not know if your sister's authentic or cult persona will be reading the note.

Keep your note simple, send lots of pictures of you and your family having lots of fun, invite her to future outings, and tell her how much you love her unconditionally.

ok just an update but i was able to rescind my da letter and the elders after meeting with me, took my excuse and encouraged me to rejoin the congregation.

i would love to share with you the theocratic warfare strategy i used to explain away my da letter but that may identify me to easily.

but any way they could of really put me over the coals on one area of the letter which was changed a bit from the one i posted her so that makes me think these guys really want me back then gone.

Hi Crazyguy, You are in a no win situation. That sucks for you.

IMHO you need to be true to yourself, because no matter what you will be stuck with your decision(s). I would recommend that you tell your wife that you are a Christian and therefore when there is conflict between following the teachings and examples of Jesus Christ and the WTBTS, you will follow Jesus Christ. If your wife disagrees with you, ask her to prove with any Bible that Jesus Christ condons shunning and not associating with non-believers, conditional love, hypocrisy, etc.

MT 22:34-40 should be able to help your wife to interpret the scriptures. MT 22: 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ [c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. Hopefully, your wife will notice that the greatest commandment does not say blindly follow the GB. It says with "ALL" your heart, soul, and mind.

Welcome WhoYourDaddy. Although I am a Christian, I can understand how exJWs can become atheists because of logical examination of facts and not because of a nervous system reaction to leaving the WTBTS.

it worked great!

i think i increased my mom's cog dis just by showing her i am the same good person, and having fun.

Hi ILoveTTATT, Ask them if they have your publisher card. If they do not possess your publisher card how can they hold a JC about you, because they cannot prove you were dunked?

I am amazed that JWs have been studying for 3 years with you because of your profession and did not pressure you to read the "What the Bible Really Teaches" propaganda. I studied with an elder and later with another brother. The elder wanted me to read the "Teach" book to reduce the time to indoctrinate me to think like a JW by saying that it will become clearer as I was able to learn "Bible Secrets". There were no Bible secrets. The elder was trying to use BITE control techniques to indoctrinate me. The brother just cherry-picked scriptures to attempt to prove to me that "True Christians" (JWs) need an organization to blindly lead them when the NT clearly does not teach that philosophy. I wonder if your JW bible conductors have doubts.

Non JW girl with a JW guy

i want to talk about my story because i need help and advice and most impirtant a lot of comfort.. one year and a half ago i met a wonderful guy.

he was really nice and supporyed me during hard moments.

i slowly fell in love with him.

HI Accio, If you have insurance that covers talking with a therapist, I would highly recommend that you visit one soon. You come across as being too needy in your writing. Until you become comfortable with who you are and improve your self imagine, most guys will sense your neediness within 5 minutes of meeting you and think about talking with someone else.

I saw an obese woman once who was a very stylish dresser and projected charm and self-confidence. Although I was not romantically attracted to her, I was interested in meeting her and learning more about her. My point is make a choice to live in the present by working on your self-confidence, maybe workout at the gym, and learn how to accentuate what makes you attractive and minimize what you feel is less attractive about yourself. The past is in the past so let it go.

Hi carla, I would sign a petition if it was worded to request action by the President and would not single out just the WTBTS, but all non-profit organizations that put children at risk from adult predators. A well-worded petition would require the President to actively encourage Congress to pass a bill(s) and would have both criminal penalties for corporate officers (such as the GB) and for a non-profit organizations to lose their non-profit status so that donors could not claim tax deductions when an organization does not implement effective child protection policies that include reporting child molestation and abuse and rapes to the police before contacting an organization's legal department.

I tried to do something similiar in the thread URGENT: Please Sign White House Petition to "Protect Americans from Dangerous Cults: Modify USC Title 26 § 501 Tax Exemption Requirements" and It's Back! . . . Round 2 to ask the President to actively encourage Congress to pass a bill that would require non-profit organizations to stop coersive practices such as shunning. Based on my experience I received several negative comments from JWN members with very few positive suggestions on ways to mount a successful petition drive. Less than 125 people signed either petition even after I created a FB page and sent emails to organizations with members who might support such a petition.

For a petition to be successful IMHO a lot of ground work needs to be done to create a website and make contact with organizations that have members who will be sympathetic to the petition and will write their representatives before creating a petition. There are a lot of organizations which would be sympathetic to a petition if it is written to include organizations besides the WTBTS.

Beard or no beard?

so i already moved out of the house, but until the elders don't give me (supposedly) the letter inviting me to a jc and then me not going, i am still a witness and my mom can still talk to me.

my dad wants us to meet, but my mom had said that if i have my beard she might not want to see me (she is a completely blinded jw... beards = apostate = i am a horrible human being).

so... my question is, given that i can grow it later, should i shave it off so my mom feels more comfortable?

HI ILoveTTATT, If you like your beard, keep it. Let your mother see that you are same person whether you have a beard or not.

I like your ideas about talking about your photography projects, travel plans, how you plan to lose weight, etc. Just focus on having fun with your parents and gently remind your Mom when she brings up JW/WTBTS related topics that life is too short to talk about the WTBTS.
