New GB member Judy Jedele critizing Job's "humility" while wearing $20,000 Rolex, gold cuff links, coloured suit. Incredible!
by WingCommander ini swear, you can't make this shit up!
for years and years growing up in this cult, i had to constantly hear from my parents, from the stage, in the literature, about "keeping your eye simple", not being "materialistic", not "having a showy display of one's wealth.
" of course, this never seemed to apply to the wealthy business owning elduhzzzz who ran and lorded it out over the congregations, but i digress.

I think I may be becoming an X-X-JW
by joe134cd ini think i may be moving on shortly.
i officially joined this web-site 12 years ago as pimo about to exit the organisation.
i had spent about a year before that, as just a none commenting member.

For one to "move forward" in their exit from the JW's, I do think you eventually have to become an Ex Ex-JW.
And, I realize I have not yet taken that step, at least not fully. That is based on the fact that I still check in here pretty regularly on this ex-JW group. Yet, I do see my exit as still being progressive. I used to check in here to keep up to date on all the JW changes (aka New Light) because it was better than following it on the JWdotBorg site.
But now when I check in here I realize I no longer give a shit about the JW doctrinal changes and such. That stuff just does not affect me much any longer. I do not feel the need to be able to "talk" the (JW) talk. I just don't care!!
I rather prefer to follow the topic dealing with world politics. Although I think that I have traveled quite a bit more than the average American, I don't think traveling as a "tourist" allows one to "get the feel" of things when you're here or there for a week or two. And I thank the many here who help me get a better perspective than if I was totally isolated. So, although I've read of some posts where members here ask Simon to shut down the political conversations, I'm glad he has not done so. And, since the JW hierarchy seems to find their "tit in the wringer" with various governments these days, I think this is the only place we would find out about such things. (Certainly not going to find it in the current events on the Borg site.)
Joe, I think your posts indicate a similar "transition". You started here stating you "were alone" yet still "sticking up" for WT. I'm not sure I have gone through all the steps that Lee posted above, but certainly a lot of them and clearly some/many of them all at the same time.
Good luck to ya! Please do check in from time to time and give us an update!
The greatest revenge is living a happy & successful life!

I think we all know the Blood Doctrine is pure BS -- it is erroneous reasoning.
But the average R&F JW (esp older ones) see it as a matter of loyalty to God. The gov't officials and many other persons may not agree with her choices, but she is an adult and we assume mentally stable (at least as any JW), so she should have the right to make her decision on the matter.

It's been a long 9 years Lloyd Evans / John Cedars (continued)
by Simon inuh oh, looks like the mega thread gave up the ghost, so while i investigate / fix it just continue the discussion here .... it's been a long 9 years lloyd evans / john cedars.

Lloyd really did shit in his nest. He had a great thing going. He had respect. He had cash flow (for doing almost nothing). He was one of the Big Dogs in ex-JW circles. Now . . . .

I’m worried that mentally it’s very very dangerous and this is why many will go downhill mentally or may even take their own lives.
They'll be fine as long as they don't accept the fact that it all fiction and is still to come "very, very soon".
And finally, at some point they will decide to stay and "fake it" even if they accept that it's all BS because they can't face losing their family/friends.

Repeating an untruth over and over does not do any of us here any favors.
Sorry for the misquote. I was just recanting when I read from others here. Cold day in hell when I go to the JW website to inventory his videos. (Although I think he was probably the best speaker of the GB.)

he told me that the reason Morris is not a governing body member is severe advanced dementia
I can't believe they would delete all of his videos from the website if it were merely a heath issue from advancing age. If that were the case, I think he would still hold an honorary position as a GB member, even though they may not consider his opinions or decisions on matters.

"fear and with much trembling"
by Truth and Justice ini remember a long time ago, about 40 years ago, when my father said to me "things changed when the elder arrangement came in to focus.
" his view was that the elder arrangement was providing such a power and that sometimes it was abused.
my father was not opposed to the fact of their being elders, because the scriptures talk about the use of elders/shepherds helping the flock so to speak.

the apostle Paul said that he "came in weakness and in fear and with much trembling,"
I suspect that was false modesty or self deprecation since Paul didn't seem to mind changing the whole spin of Christianity so that he is often referred to as the "first apostate". The Bible books penned by Paul are nothing like the Christianity of Jesus Christ.

Not into many discussions with JWs any longer, but the JW family members don't give any kind of indication that they think the Org is in any kind of trouble. The Ukrainian war and Middle East tensions are fueling the fire that Armageddon is "very, very soon" to take place.
They know nothing about European branches having their status as a religion at risk. Very few even seem to know anything about the CSA lawsuit awards and settlements. (Or else they know not to mention it.)

I work for a large company. I suppose the CEO could decide to fire a huge percentage of employees tomorrow without regard or understanding of their actual job duties and in the very very short term brag about all the money saved since they no longer have to meet that payroll. But in a few months the wheels are gonna start to fall off.
Musk cut the staff of Twitter by 80% and it seems to be doing OK.
Most of us in the US know that when we go into any government office, there is one person that really knows what's going on and does the work, while numerous others (standing around or playing on their phones) are there because of their relationship to some politician who owed them a job. That is IF they even come into the office.
