That is one thing I really like about this forum. There don't seem to be any WT trolls here, but over at the big Reddit where I do OPs occasionally every now and then I will get hit by the meanest, nastiest comment in the thread below that you can imagine. A careful analysis of the comment's wording indicates only a WT troll would write it. I have no idea why they are even there at all. I do not see how their faith could ever survive that forum.

Is jehovahs-witness.com legitimately and reliably independent of WTB&TS and peripheral, aligned entities?
by great-trivialization ini am new to this forum and uncertain that this is legitimately and entirely independent of conniving jw controllers or the wtb&ts and its related entities.
markers like the use of jw.org in the forum description and the policies seem controlled/controlling vs other xjw forums.
this is not an accusation, it is an attempt to know enough to be comfortable with motives of the ownership and controllers of the forum.

What the new JW light position really is 👍
by ElderBerry ini’m still an elder and i consider myself jw light.
as my fellow elders are.
we don’t throw our weight around like elders used to in the past, it’s all very easy going these days.

I think people are attracted to religion for 3 reasons or combinations thereof.
1. Doctrine 2. A venue for doing some good 3. A community. It sounds like JW Lite is all about #3 with 10 minutes of the ministry thrown in to make oneself feel good about #2. As for doctrine, with the great dumbing down, the new doctrine of willful ignorance or is it willful stupidity, I guess #1 is in the dustbin. Perhaps this is why the religion continues to hold itself together as well as it does. People crave a sense of belonging to a community when they live in a world where so many are so disconnected. I can't help but think about that elder who supposedly said "I would rather be wrong and in the organization than be right and all alone." However Jesus said "The truth shall set you free." It just proves how little humans love freedom, and JWs are no exception.

It is now believed that up to 7% of the population has NPD, Narcissist Personality Disorder. It has many subcategories depending on what aspect of the subject one is talking about, but the two big ones are overt and covert. Donald Trump is a good example of overt. His NPD is out in the open for all the world to see, and this form is more common to men because societal norms allow for it. Women, on the other hand, are not so easily tolerated in the overt form so they are more likely to take the covert form. Many Protestant pastors equate a Jezebel with a narcissistic woman. One said that the church is the perfect hiding place for the covert narcissist who is much more likely to be a woman than a man. So where am I going with this? Narcissistic wives do enormous emotional damage to their husbands, but WT is seemingly incapable of recognizing this. Think about it. They would have to delve into the world of psychiatry, a very advanced world of higher learning, in order to talk intelligently about it. Going to higher learning for anything is now an anathema to them. I have tried to educate them about this, but I might as well piss into the wind for all the good it does.

It is said that the human mind has a tendency to see patterns even when they're not really there. Be that as it may, what I find disturbing is how in the background foliage there are so many facial images that I've lost count. It is a very disturbing drawing. One ex witness has a lot of content on his youtube channel with a lot of content devoted to this very subject. Think what you like, I believe it is subliminal demonism. As for the object in question I believe Blondie has it right calling it a scroll, but here's the problem. It assumes that it's wrapped around some kind of inner roller. Research into what these rollers looked like shows nothing like what's in the drawing. The end is more like a dildo tip, the glans end of a penis. There has been enough of this sort of thing in the artwork of WT literature that some of it is almost certainly subliminal imagery. I do not believe in seeing something around every corner or underneath every rock, but some is definitely there. I do not believe in a rogue artist theory because it's too easy to identity the artist, and I do not believe in a conspiracy between the art department and the governing entity behind it because too many people would be involved. A secret like that could not be kept over the long haul. No, it's got to be demonic forces changing the digital art somewhere along the way before it goes to print.

Will They Change the Memorial Talk This Year?
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/o5almnehew4?si=kdgrjgbiutjkvcxe.
i’m hoping the memorial talk will be different.
change the talk!

My pet peeve about the memorial is their obsession with just once a year and it has to correspond with Nisan 14 as the same as the passover night. Then if you miss it you do it one month later per the law of Moses. Jesus said nothing about this. He just said "do this often in remembrance of me". I think Wt. has it all wrong about frequency and when it's to be celebrated. I think the concept of the Catholic Mass is overdoing it with frequency. If done too often it loses its importance, but once a year is too infrequently. I'm not up on how often Protestant denominations do it. I'm sure it varies from one church to the next. Google AI says some do it every Sunday, or monthly or quarterly.

What are some of the more exceptional self-authenticating claims made by Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by Vanderhoven7 inlet's start the ball rolling with two connected claims.. the religion of jehovah’s witnesses is the one true religion.
all other religions are satanic, including all the churches of christendom..

Vanderhoven 7: They are the one true religion. This is a consequence of saying Malachi 3 has an antitype. Now that the antitypes are in the dustbin they can't say they're the one true religion, but do you think anyone has even heard of Malachi 3 nowadays?

New GB member Judy Jedele critizing Job's "humility" while wearing $20,000 Rolex, gold cuff links, coloured suit. Incredible!
by WingCommander ini swear, you can't make this shit up!
for years and years growing up in this cult, i had to constantly hear from my parents, from the stage, in the literature, about "keeping your eye simple", not being "materialistic", not "having a showy display of one's wealth.
" of course, this never seemed to apply to the wealthy business owning elduhzzzz who ran and lorded it out over the congregations, but i digress.

I am a minimalist. If I were on the GB they wouldn't know what to do with me. I have to drag my iphone around everywhere with me for business purposes and it already has the time. Who needs a watch. I saw this youtube video that says a watch implies that chicks would be cool with you. I guess if that were true I might wear one for chick magnet purposes.

3 Elders in Brazil sentenced for disfellowshipping announcement
by liam in12 days ago 3 elders in brazil were sentenced for disfellowship announcement which is against the law in certain parts of brazil.
the first article discusses that.
the second article discusses the outcome so far.

What's so strange about this is that all the announcement says is that "so and so is no longer a JW". From a legal point of view that doesn't seem like a big deal at all. Any chance the elders overstepped and said more than they should have?

Did Watchtower Really Teach That Armageddon Was Coming in 1954?
by Jerome56 inin the march 2025 jw broadcast david splane in his morning worship talk mentioned that "some thought" that armageddon would come 40 years after 1914. such statements are usually meant to shift the blame of their own false predictions on to their members for speculating.
however, i was unable to find anything in print showing that such a thing was indeed taught by the society.
was this really a thing?.

I was only 4 years old in 1954, so I have no real time memory of it, but I remember my parents telling me about it a few years later. My parents were Gilead grads and missionaries before I was born. My Dad was a congregation servant back then so they were clearly in the know. They told me that it was a group of individuals not associated with the upper level hierarchy who promoted the teaching. I remember my Dad speaking of it rather sneeringly as he thought it was stupid, and that these people should not have gotten involved in it. Apparently a few in our local congregation had promoted it, but only a few. Today they would probably have gone up on charges of apostasy, but in 1954 they weren't as tight about these things as they are now. But my parents, to the best of my memory, were saying that this was a bottom up theory and was not a top down theory within the org, and apparently never had a widespread following. That's all I know about it. This was in one of the mountain states for us. Don't know how widespread it was through the country either. It had something to do with adding 40 years to 1914, like maybe coming out of 40 years in the wilderness, but I do remember my father thinking it was goofy theology.

Beroean Pickets - Is there a problem?
by BoogerMan inhaving watched the latest offering from beroean pickets - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpuelgtf4ka - i contributed the following factual information along with several consolidating scriptures:.
"naos - metaphorically the spiritual temple consisting of the saints of all ages joined together by and in christ,
of a company of christians, a christian church, as dwelt in by the spirit of god.

finishedmystery
You would think that this is some big new thing. This was the so called apostasy of 1979-1982. For the great crowd to be in the naos means that they are in heaven, and Watchtower's pathetic Wt. article in 1980 to prove otherwise was abysmal at best. The umbrella term hieron which includes the courtyards of the temple (the earth) was proclaimed to be a synonym for naos, or more accurately they said naos could mean hieron and therefore being in the naos could mean in the earthly courtyards. What a joke.
