  IICSA Final Report

  the english legal system's independent inquiry into child sexual abuse has issued its final report, and its recommendations.

  to read the report in full just google iicsa report, if you search on the iicsa site you can find the specific investigation into j.w's.. but this recommendation from the final report is interesting, esp.

  "The Home Secretary in the UK, Yvette Cooper, has announced today in Parliament that it will be mandatory for professionals in a position of trust – including teachers, doctors, priests and social workers – to report child sexual abuse that they know of"

  Hopefully elders will be captured within those definitions. "...that they know of" allows too much wiggle room, IMO. Unless the CSA is established in the mouth of two or three witnesses, the elder doesn't KNOW anything, according to WT law as based on their peculiar understanding of Mosaic law.

  "Generally speaking, a couple would not discuss with others this intimate aspect of their marriage."

  That would include discussions with elders, would it not? Would the above quote be strong enough to use against an elder or two who get a bit too curious? Or is it just more "plausible deniability"?

  "So, brothers when did you start partaking of the Lord's Evening Meal and what prompted you to?

  "Given the millions of Christians who have lived before us, many of whom died as martyrs, why do you think Jesus called you? (Actually, there was next to no mention of Christ Jesus, I think even the GB forget that it was Jesus who made the promise of ruling as Kings not Jehovah.)

  "Brother Cooke said "you were appointed to serve on the GB". Who exactly does the appointing? Is it Jehovah, in which case did you just walk into a GB meeting day one day and say "I am here, I have been appointed by Jehovah"? Or was it the GB itself who at the time included the now banished Anthony Morris"

  These are all good questions!

  now that we have the tick-a-box field service reporting method, how are brothers measured fit for an appointment as a ms or elder?

  has there been clarification in any of the recent elders schools or in meetings with the co?.

  The Curious Case of Cameroon in Africa in the World Report

  we know that in africa warwick/watchtower is adopting a policy of more congregations with fewer publishers in each congregation.

  this explains the growth of congregations in the 2024 world report.. cameroon world report 2019 vs. 2024.. with the same number of publishers the congregations grew by about 13%.. will there be many more curious cases out there?.

  1925--2025... 100 years since Rutherford promised paradise earth.

  rutherford wrote in 1925 "millions now living will never die"...they died.

  he also promised that moses and david and all the old bible heroes would live with him in his mansion.

  only he lived there till he died in 1942...100 years and not much changed..

  The GB signing Bibles still interests me. In the thread below, Randy says that one of the things Russell would have later been disfellowshipped for was "signing his own books". Was there ever a "collecting autographs is a form of idolatry" thing within the organisation?

  Wars in the middle east, the Russian threat, inflation, talk about WW3. I'm old enough to remember similar fears in the 70s. Lots of idiots with their fingers on buttons back then, too. Let's hope that these "interesting times" will blow over in similar fashion.

  In my contact with JWs during the 1990s, I got to thinking. "The WT says it's the Ark. Noah took 120 years to build the Ark. Add 120 to 1914 , and you get 2034. I never posted that thought to this or earlier boards (wasn't one called H2O, or some such? 🤔) because, to be quite frank, I didn't want to give the WT any ideas.

  Thinking about it further now, 1919 is the true foundational date. That would have been when the WT was declared to be the Ark, typologically* speaking. So, WT gets a further reprieve, with their final date stretched to 2039, once you add the 120 years.

  * Or is that antitypologically? I never understood that earlier JW stuff about types and antitypes. 🙄 Neither did the current GB, apparently; they've declared the whole concept null and void.

  What was the reasoning behind having it outsourced to a different branch? Was it Australian Bethel who was responsible for making it? Or did they just get a bunch of Australian people to film it in the American video facility for some unknown reason? The more I find out, the more questions it raises.
