Mikejw - βNew light is everyone makes it through Armageddon unless really bad.β
Vidiot: "At that point, YTF even bother with Armageddon?"
It does seem like the whole exercise is somewhat flawed. π€
i know back in the day, that was taught, that if the parents were going to be destroyed, so would the children.
i just can't easily find reference to anything.
this thinking has been used to justify some egregious behavior towards children and their parents such as exclusion of children from jw family - why worry, the end is near, all will work itself out then - the end didn't come though.

w16 april p. 9 par.
17 being faithful gullible leads to godβs the cult's approval - thousands of young christian men and women are willingly sacrificing marriage or are not having children - at least for now - in order to serve jehovah the borg to the full.
older ones too may be sacrificing the time they could otherwise spend with their children and grandchildren in order to work on theocratic construction projects supply free labour or to attend the school for kingdom evangelizers receive deeper indoctrination and to serve in areas where the need for kingdom publishers more suckers is greater.
Are they still flogging that tired old horse π of not getting married and having children? They wouldn't have the numbers they have today if former generations of JWs hadn't disobeyed Bethel and created a generation or two of "born-ins".
the english legal system's independent inquiry into child sexual abuse has issued its final report, and its recommendations.
to read the report in full just google iicsa report, if you search on the iicsa site you can find the specific investigation into j.w's.. but this recommendation from the final report is interesting, esp.
the first and last sentences.
"Fixed that for you. π"
Admittedly, I'm probably being a bit too circumspect in my statements π€ That's the second statement of mine you've had to fix! π³
Back to the subject, did the British parliament really just vote against a full inquiry into this whole grooming gang issue? π²

I thought of further clarifying that myself, but I'm sick of writing that bastard's name. When it comes to damage done to the organisation and its people, that bloke must be up there with da Judge.
i noticed in the latest memorial invitation, the dates for the observance are odd--well far more odd than usual.. what i mean is that forever as i can remember, jehovah's witnesses use to advertise really big that this was nisan 14. they don't tend to do this anymore.. and being jewish, their dates now tend to align with passover, or at least with the second seder night of passover.. 2025: saturday, april 12 (nisan 15).
2026: thursday, april 2 (nisan 15/16).
2027: monday, march 22 (nisan 15/16).
"'Twas NIsan 14 when your glory was seen..."
You're yankin' my chain! π³ Please tell me that this wasn't a real line in a real song*! π
If real, tell me the name of the song, please.

"The Home Secretary in the UK, Yvette Cooper, has announced today in Parliament that it will be mandatory for professionals in a position of trust β including teachers, doctors, priests and social workers β to report child sexual abuse that they know of"
Hopefully elders will be captured within those definitions. "...that they know of" allows too much wiggle room, IMO. Unless the CSA is established in the mouth of two or three witnesses, the elder doesn't KNOW anything, according to WT law as based on their peculiar understanding of Mosaic law.
jehovahβs witnesses have an official page for clarified beliefs they encourage elders, ministerial servants, regular pioneers, as well as all the rest of the elite, to keep up to date with:.
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200277174.
2025 has a curious clarification:.
"Generally speaking, a couple would not discuss with others this intimate aspect of their marriage."
That would include discussions with elders, would it not? Would the above quote be strong enough to use against an elder or two who get a bit too curious? Or is it just more "plausible deniability"?
i overheard my wife listening to '2023 governing body update #2, presented by kenneth cook jnr.
a few points i got from it.. new hour requirements.
quote "with the new hour requirements for pioneers, many us us can share in the pioneer work.
Quite the rogue's gallery!
"The questions I would have asked:
"So, brothers when did you start partaking of the Lord's Evening Meal and what prompted you to?
"Given the millions of Christians who have lived before us, many of whom died as martyrs, why do you think Jesus called you? (Actually, there was next to no mention of Christ Jesus, I think even the GB forget that it was Jesus who made the promise of ruling as Kings not Jehovah.)
"Brother Cooke said "you were appointed to serve on the GB". Who exactly does the appointing? Is it Jehovah, in which case did you just walk into a GB meeting day one day and say "I am here, I have been appointed by Jehovah"? Or was it the GB itself who at the time included the now banished Anthony Morris"
These are all good questions!
now that we have the tick-a-box field service reporting method, how are brothers measured fit for an appointment as a ms or elder?
has there been clarification in any of the recent elders schools or in meetings with the co?.
blondie, that anecdote about large numbers transferring and refusing to be reenlisted should speak volumes. It's a pity that the higher ups aren't hearing or heeding the message.
we know that in africa warwick/watchtower is adopting a policy of more congregations with fewer publishers in each congregation.
this explains the growth of congregations in the 2024 world report.. cameroon world report 2019 vs. 2024.. with the same number of publishers the congregations grew by about 13%.. will there be many more curious cases out there?.
"Something doesn't add up here."
