Did anyone else besides my never-been-a-dub wife notice that today's events fullfilled the prophecy made on page 208 of the book "From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained?"

Okay, I'll join in....
1. I was raised a dub, pioneered for five years, left when I was 26.
2. I talked my parents into leaving but five years ago they went back.
3. My first job after leaving dubdom was as a door to door cable tv salesman in Ocean Beach (San Diego)
4. I entered college late because of dub rules and graduated when I was 31.
5. Mrs. r51785 and I have two children, the most recent one having been born 26 days ago.
6. I really really really love to play golf!!!
7. My friends and co-workers are often amused by my dub stories. One of my golfing buddies asked me how to get rid of dubs-at-the-door. I told him to tell the dubs he was a "mentally diseased apostate!"
8. I love the San Diego Padres (baseball team for you non-USA'ers)
9. I secretly love it when my four year old daughter discusses Christmas, Easter, birthdays, etc in front of my dub mom.
10. I love my dub mom because she does not shun me or in any way treat me the way a dub is supposed to.

It has always fascinated me how all of us have been programmed to think that we must talk to elders, confess to elders, answer any question the elders ask. They really do count on us to incriminate ourselves. From my experience they became very frustrated when you don't play along. My advice is to avoid them and if confronted by them stonewall. Lie if you have too. They do not deserve the truth. They have no authority over you except that which you allow them to have (I believe Mr. Farkel said that)

Cruel Pre-1975 Teaching Point - Persecution
by Amazing inpersecution: sometime around late 1973 early 1974, when jws everywhere were in eager anticipation of armageddon breaking out, we also feared something else.
prior to armageddon, there would be the great tribulation, and just about this time we expected heavy persecution, so much so, that is was hard to help bible studies (newbies) to get over this fear.. service meeting part: during a service meeting, the elder giving the part was speaking about such persecution and of course all this was prefaced with our obedience to jehovah and his organization, doing all the works, meetings, etc.
.... ... as he spoke, there was suddenly loud banging on all of our entry-exit doors.

VM44, you mention Vincent Mancuso. There's a man I will never forget!!
He was an elder in my KH. I remember as a 20 year old when I was being recommended to be a MS Vinnie was assigned by the elders to ask me if there were any "reasons" why I should not be recommended. It was my first experience with an elder trying to get me to engage in self-incrimination. He probably wanted to know if I masturbated (this was at the time of the great masturbation scare)! -

? for any who has been an Ex-JW for many years
by Babykins ini voluntarily dissasociated myself about 5 1/2 years ago.
i did not know anything about the things on the internet i just had a feeling that something was not right and i needed to exercise my right to be free and make free decisions.
how happy i was that a year after i dissasociated myself i got on the internet and found a wealth of information and a heck of alot of encouragement.. anyway my question is to those who have been out and free before the days of the internet.

I walked away in September, 1980. This was before the internet and "Crisis of Conscience." Down through the years I've done a lot of "anti-witness witnessing." Mainly this has consisted of discussing my experiences with friends and aquaintances as the subject comes up. Most people I meet who are Christians are fascinated by my JW stories and appreciate an understanding of the JW mindset. Others who are not Christian are apalled at the cultish mind control practiced. I've probably had as many long serious discussions with people about the JW religion over the last 21 years as the average publisher has. I like to think of myself as the "anti-publisher." If all of us ex-JW's tell the truth about "the truth" to people over the years we can counteract all the magazine salespeople who come to the doors.

Loyal ones close to apostasy?
by ozziepost insince all baptised jehovah's witnesses are required to give loyal obedience to the watch tower society or f&ds, it's necessary to accept all the teachings of the organisation.. next time you're challenged by an elder as to whether you accept all the teachings of the organisation, you might like to refer him to page 262 of the daniel book.. there the "ships of kittim" are 'identified' as the ships of britain lying off the western coast of europe in ww1.
kittim is believed to be the ancient name of cyprus.
in the first world war cyprus was annexed by britain.

While we're on this whole topic of naval deployment during The Great War, ships of the Imperial Japanese Navy patrolled the Mediterranean during the war. Does this mean that the ships of Nippon and the ships of Kittim were the same and could this be shortened to the ships of KittiNipp?
