several years ago, and I believe its in the SFOG book, a newly baptized male, with good "qualifications" i.e. service, hall cleaning, volunteering- can work hard and become a ms, and within 1 year, an elder! Now isn't that great! A 20,21 y.o. giving advice to a life long person/ publisher, ( not a member anymore remember), in the congregation and that new mini elder is not qualified to give spiritual or emotional, or mental advice to anyone! This is the same crap they want women to believe that even if a male "child" of 15, 16, 17 is newly baptized, he has more authority in a car group or group of sisters just because he is a male. Sure, give him the territory card so he can direct the work. I can just see the older elders patting him on the back, giving him encouragement but not helping the older sister who lives alone, sitting in the back row, or the older brother needing some help around his house. Oh the love.

All things were created by him - that's scriptural.

His birth? - check out when Herod the Great ruled and died. Jesus, according to scripture was born in Herods time, making Herods death the prime time to look at Jesus age at that time.

Also, since 40 seems to be the magical number in scripture, The org says Jesus died at 33 years of age, seeming that he supposedly began his ministry at age 30 and died three years later, however, allowing that Herod wanted the babies two year of age and under killed, then died about 4 BCE, makes Jesus birth back to 6 or 7 bce ( making him 40 when he died) and as the shepherds were still in the fields, it definitely was not the "december" of the year.

Still does not answer the question of his birth --although he did say in Luke to celebrate his death, so it falls to that of the thought that IF Jesus thought his birth was important, he would have said so. Everything else is conjecture.

.....my understanding is that you all believe jesus is michael the archangel....... the two verses above describe two different personalities..... the archangel in jude rebuked satan in the name of the father, because he knew it was not his place to rebuke him, he knew that he didn't have the authority to do so, that the only person who possesses this authority is god himself.... while jesus, in matthew 4:10, does not need to invoke the name of the father to rebuke satan, because the father and jesus are one, not michael and jesus..... .... because michael the archangel is not jesus christ our savior.....

When looking at Hebrews, God is speaking to A Son- Jesus. Not "sons of God". This is specific to Jesus vs an angel. Heb 1:2-8 - these verses clearly define The One. Jesus.

Pete: whomever he may be thinking of, we can only work on what is written. I am not struggling as you say, I believe it's very clear. Jesus and Michael are not the same, but thanks for that info.

To which one of the angels did he ( God ) call son? ( Hebrews 1:5) None- Michael is an ARCH ANGEL, like Gabriel- apparently, there were seven? Only Jesus was called son - he sits on God's right hand mentioned several times in scripture.

Re Jude vs 9- Michael the archangel disputing with Satan, and expanding on Strikers point- Jesus died in 33 ce- yet Jude, written years after Jesus' death, is saying Michael, (not Jesus way back when), disputed with Satan. If Jude understood Michael and Jesus were the same, would he not have referenced that important point? Wasn't Jude the brother of James - both Jesus half brothers who would know?

Loss of a Jehovah’s Witness who I considered a friend

i have known a jehovah’s witness for approximately 15 years and i have considered her a friend although i know that jehovah’s witnesses cannot have friends who are not jehovah’s witnesses.

approximately two years ago, i was going through a very difficult time and i asked my friend if we could have bible study.

she said yes and we have been studying the bible since.

Unfortunately, being a "friend", visiting, helping, driving to meetings, studying- is what is done to "groom" a person to accept the "truth". The closeness is part of bringing a person into the hall, getting them baptized, maybe being a friend for a year or two, working with them out in service then things change. The love bombing you received when you first came to a meeting as a "person of the world" was another tactic to show "love to you. This fades over time and you find you are on your own, unless you go pioneering.- the ultimate goal for a single person - using your time and money and vehicle voluntarily to find more "friends"- unless of course,, you want to go to bethel to work as a volunteer, and sign a no monies contract.

You are wise to step back and take a hard look- this is a bait and switch deal - if you do anything wrong - once baptized, you can be disfellowshipped and then no one will speak with you until you "repent" and come back to the meetings.

Recycled articles updated. They have never highlighted Jesus and apparently, do not intend too. All the hype about new song, assembly talks, memorial talk, mean diddly to them (GB). They have taken over Jesus spot as second in command and placed the GB as the spokesmen for Yahweh/Jehovah. They are placing themselves, once again, as prophets- but still don't get it right. he will not pressure her to engage in sexual acts that make her feel uncomfortable, that are demeaning, or that bother her conscience..... the bible does not provide details as to what sexual practices between a husband and a wife should be considered clean or unclean.

a christian couple must make decisions that reflect their resolve to honor jehovah, to please each other, and to maintain a clean conscience.

generally speaking, a couple would not discuss with others this intimate aspect of their marriage..

Serious sinner?

with the statement in the study watchtower this sunday, that stop serving jehovah is a serious sin, the following:.

- can i conclude now, that we, (i, wife and 2 children), since 2008 pomo and no longer active in any religious activity, are serious sinners for jehovahs witnesses?.

writing this in a watchtower, a statement like that, could have big implications.. it makes me so sad.

I am sure that everyone of a certain age can remember 1980-81 when Ray Franz and whole congregations in New York were df'd? Why? Independent thinking. Finding out dates were off, carrying on after book study to study the bible themselves... and on and on.. there was more to the story but we all know the outcome - Crisis of Conscience.

The org is so scared of anyone touting the independent thinking line they disparage anyone who dares to do it. If you do, you do not have Jehovahs holy spirit! You are an apostate! You are no longer a sister or brother!! SIde glances! Rumors!

They lost the "holy spirit" when they dropped him from the baptism question - begs to ask- how did any of the mags and books get written, if not from the help of that spirit? They can spout obey all they want - they are not to judge anyone, only One - or two can do that.
