Got a few giggles from another discussion board RE: "Why don't JWs vote?"

re: serena williams' comments about jws not voting......of course the non-jw members wanted to know why.. the first giggle i got from all the non-jws posting who wanted to know why she could dress so skimpily, pursue her tennis career and wrap herself in the american flag while still proclaiming to be a jw.

i'd go so far as to say all of the non-jw posters were questioning this.. the second giggle was the expected knee-jerk defensive reaction from the jws on the board......i.e., "here we go judging people from appearance again," and "how come nobody's judging this celebrity/that celebrity?".

then, the expected "how come everybody hates jws" comment from another one.

Adult orthodontic patients...anyone?

i have a question:.

if you have a retainer, do you wear it?.

i haven't worn my retainer in about six months, and the periodontist told me on a recent visit that i need to go ahead and wear it, or my teeth will all revert back to their original positions (not pretty; my teeth were pretty busted-looking before braces) he says that because i'm an adult it will happen much faster than a child's or teen's.. i've tried unsuccessfully to keep it on for sustained periods for the last 24 hours, and it just hurts too much to wear.

did that rule come from the society or from a safety law on the books(fire hazard)?.

if i take a baby stroller to the dc will i get kicked out?

a question i've always wanted to know.....

...about the scene in the movie where the kids are dancing to "shotgun" by jr. walker and the all-stars.

they formed 2 lines--one on either side--and did these neat dance steps facing each other.

Anyone well-versed in Virginia auto insurance procedures?

i need some advice and don't know where to go.....

i was involved in a fender-bender about a month ago, and cannot get anywhere with either my insurance company nor the other driver's.

i was dropping my husband off at his job, a very busy and very large teaching hospital in the city.

A couple of questions about summer conventions (spinoff)

being as i haven't been to a convention in years, i have a couple of questions:

do they still come out with that list of special-jw-rate hotels at the service meeting for the summer conventions?

also, i remember times when the list would be practically useless by the time my parents got home from that service meeting and started trying to make reservations.

i married a "worldly" gentleman.

my "approved associations" status is already up in the air--i am no longer "in the troof".

i was unbaptized and just drifted away.

i'm sick of my job, sick of the city i'm living in, sick of most of the people who surround me daily.

like a lot of folks here, i was "encouraged to find education within jah's service" discouraged from seeking further education whilst being raised in the troof.

were it up to my father, i probably wouldn't have been permitted to attend regular public school, grades k through 12, much less college---education was that much maligned in my family.
