Did any of you know the TATT before you left?
by marriedtoajw ini know that all everyone's experience vary but i ask this because i am under the impression that since jw's are taught to avoid reading material that may be critical of their teachings they just stay away.
yet many of you violated this at some point to come accross information that confirmed or convinced you of "the problems" with the org.
i have also spoken to active jw's online who seem to know the controvercies but still defend the org vigorously.

Serena Williams wins....but as a Jehovah's Witness will not toast.....New York Daily News Story
by Balaamsass inu.s. open sponsor moet leads champagne toast to champion serena williams, a jehovah's witness who does not drinkreporters on tight deadline wait for inappropriate-feeling homage before williams can begin press conference.comments (7).
by filip bondy / new york daily newsmonday, september 10, 2012, 12:00 am.
howard simmons/new york daily newsserena williams is thrilled about winning the u.s. open, but she will not celebrate with a champagne toast due to her religious beliefs.. there was an awkward interval sunday night in the press interview room, when the u.s. open sponsors, moet, delivered a trolley of small champagne bottles to the assembled media who already had waited an hour to ask post-match questions of serena williams.. before williams could begin answering questions, usta ceo gordon smith led a toast that basically called williams victory the greatest match in open history.. .

There's gotta be another faction in the Writing Department, either that or they can't see the irony.
by Theocratic Sedition inthe past two week's worth of wt studies have made a couple points that appear contradictory in nature.
yesterday was too much, i felt at least.
either there's another faction within the writing department fighting for the equivalent of airtime in the literature, or they're all so indoctrinated that they fail to see the irony in what they publish.. for instance, take paragraph 5 from last week's lesson.. 5. unlike the law codes of many countries, "the perfect law" is neither complex nor burdensome but consists of simple commandements and principles.

Hooray- I have a pickup truck again!!
by moshe ini went for 2-1/2 years without a truck- my wife told i would never survive without a truck-- i think she is a smart cookie- it was so hard going to garage sales with a small hatchback and not being able to buy that moosehead for my man-cave.. anyway- this is a former comcast cable tv truck- it was repainted and from the looks of the interior, it looks like a supervisor drove it carefully for 237,000 miles - which is a record for me - i got it for $2200- a 2001 ford f-150.
it had an old leaky transmission- which i have just had replaced with a rebuilt one for $950- i am getting 18-19mpg, so i think that v6 will last me for a long time- retirees don't put a lot of miles on their rides-- - and no rust- anywhere!.
