  a woman has been shot dead by a 2-year-old in a wal-mart store in idaho.. .

  Site issues: Dec 30 Update

  first of all, some apologies - i had planned to spend the last couple of days getting everyone signed in to the new site and sorting account issues out but i wasn't getting over the flu as i thought, i got worse.

  i've probably had 4 hours sleep in the last few days.

  anything that requires too much thinking isn't going to happen right now.

  Simon, you can get a block heater installed quite easily. You'll need an extension cord for it, as you plug it in overnight to keep the battery from freezing. You just leave it in your car all year round since it only works when it's plugged in.

  i was driving with a long time non-witness friend when a song by supertramp came on the radio and i changed it.

  she asked "why did you do that?

  i like that song.

  This one sticks out in my mind the most: The Brother™ who was Studying™ with my folks had a shop in town and the family went there. Other customers were in the shop. I walked up to the shop owner and very loudly said "What's up, Brother™?" having never been informed that it was inappropriate to address him that way in public, let alone at his place of business.

  Well, I really got informed on the way home, followed by a spanking once we got home, for "embarrassing everyone".

  I wondered to myself why anyone who knew The Truth™ would be "embarrassed" by being called Brother™ or Sister™, since that was how we were instructed to address adults at the Meetings™.

  I was maybe 6 or 7 years old at the time.

  I saw this episode when it originally aired.

  Even if he's steering clear of other JWs, I have to agree with the investigator's assessment: he'll latch on to any group where his knowledge of the bible will make him accepted, and where he will be able to hunt for new victims at will.

  I seriously doubt that he's still in the US. He had enough money through the sale of his businesses and other assets that he could be somewhere that the broadcast would not be easily seen or accessible.

  In interactions between consenting adults, "touching or rubbing over clothing" is known as foreplay, you moron. Since children are not capable of consenting to sexual interactions, it automatically becomes sexual assault.

  What amounted to foreplay for the offender, in reality was sexual assault where the victims were concerned.

  after all, it's a secular holiday not a religious holiday.. if i was still an active member, i think i would start a new tradition of celebrating festivus.

  most likely no jws would come, but that's okay, it's a famiily holiday anyway.. what grounds would the elders have to disfellowship you?.

  JWs don't need an excuse - how many of them have big turkey dinners with all the family over the holidays? The hypocrisy was astonishing, especially when they'd turn around and criticize you for doing something like decorating inside the house with paper snowflakes and snowman figurines to counteract the dreariness of winter.

  i listen to one of these all time in our hall.

  she brings it up constantly about how they would do this or that but he has to work that saturday.

  i think she should get a job and then he could find a lower paying 9 to 5 job..

  If the wife has not worked in many years, it's likely that she has few marketable skills that would offer her many options in the workforce.

  She might be better off selling Avon or Tupperware. It's more of a social marketing thing, and it may just open her eyes as to how hard it is to provide for oneself. Then again, it may be her way of boasting. She gets to slam her husband for not making all the Meetings™ while he provides for her every whim, and then she gets to play the martyr.

  I tried to make an elder feel guilty for shunning his 2 children.

  i ran into an elder the other day at walmart.

  he's a fairly good man and has a wife that is very sickly.

  so sickly in fact i don't know how she's holding on.

  If members of the congregation are known to have undue association with disfellowshipped or disassociated relatives who are not in the household elders should counsel and reason with those members of the congregation from the Scriptures. Review with them information from the "God's Love" book, pages 207-208; The Watchtower of April 15, 1988, pages 26-30; or the article "Display Christian Loyalty When a Relative Is Disfellowshipped" in the August 2002 Our Kingdom Ministry. If it is clear that a Christian is violating the spirit of the disfellowshipping decree in this regard and does not respond to counsel, it may be that he would not qualify for congregation privileges, which require one to be exemplary. He would not be dealt with judicially unless there is persistent spiritual association or he openly criticizes the disfellowshipping decision.
