Even as a piousneer, this bothered me greatly and was one of the reasons I began thinking more critically about jdub beliefs. So...No.

Did you expect all non-Witnesses to die at Armageddon?
by Apognophos inapologies if this has been asked before, but i couldn't find a thread where the focus was specifically this yes-or-no question.
reach back in your memories to when you were at the peak of your faith in the religion, and tell me honestly:.
"did you, personally, believe that non-witnesses would die at armageddon, even if they hadn't gotten to hear the message at all?".

No, I'm not mad at you (JWs)
by skeeter1 ini got a call today from jw relative, wondering why i haven't answered correspondance.. no, i haven't called or written some jws in my life for a while.

Skeeter --- I hear you.
I have jdub family but have zero contact with many of them because there is just no point. It's crazymaking all around so it's better to go live my life and not even think about theirs.
Kudos to you for living your life.

My own daughter has much suffered; she will get justice in due time.
by TheFadingAlbatros injust learned today direct from my beloved daughter that she has been abused between 5 and 12 years old by 2 brothers (her own cousins) and 1 family "friend".
she has attempted suicide a few days ago.
luckily she is living and she is not physically injured.

TFA and AB, so so sorry you've also endured this pain. I personally know the trauma and have experienced the jw cover-it-up routine.
HUGS to you and your children.

Excusing the JW Child Abuse Scandals.
by Phizzy inmy question is prompted by a post of terry's on his own thread about a parable for jw's.
in that post terry shows how the standard jw response to any report of sex abuse within the borg is to use the "no true scotsman" fallacy.. i.e "he was not a real jw".. my question is for some time in the future, when the true, horrendous, extent of abuse within the borg is public knowledge, and the cognitive dissonance grows for jw's about this being endemic in "god's organization" for so long, how will they excuse it, or explain it, then ?.
how will they push away the obvious conclusion that jehovah must have approved of this going on, or he would have rectified it, not left it to the courts to pick up the broken pieces years later ?.

Exactly my point Pro, Jehovah must look on whilst His Elders, appointed by His Holy Spirit, rape children for year after year.
This cannot be excused as "imperfect men" within his Org. He appointed them, He approved their "two witness" Policy that allows Abuse to continue, if none of the former is true, it is not "God's Spirit Directed Organization".
If it is true, then Jehovah approves of Child Rapists.
Phizzy...AMEN.

I think they'd do better to just put "JWs Support Child Molesters" bumper stickers on all the cars in the lot.

Governing Body, Faithful Slave disconnect.
by prologos inwt doctrine now says that there was no faithful feeding slave at pentecost, in apostolic times, ---but there is now, since 1919. previously they taught there was always a slave feeding -sometimes unknown , but an unbroken, if sporadic lineage.. while the early, and later christians (in this doctrine) had no discreet slave, they had a governing body.
the tradition of a (wt) governing body is older then the idea of "feeding my sheep".. governance over care.. are they working on an unbroken if sporadic governance of the congregation too?
we still feel the reverberations, consequences of the talking snake too.. .

Do you think the GB ever mentions these abuse cases directly?
by thedepressedsoul inthe title says it all, do you think that the gb will ever bring up these cases in their literature or in a talk?
i'm not talking about them just mentioning "persecution" i'm talking about actually bringing up child abuse cases and trying to justify it.. or will it just remain the elephant in the room until years have passed?.

They are an evil leadership with criminal intentions to amass money at the expense of showing true compassion or morality towards child abuse victims. And WT leaders INDOCTRINATE that same attitude into their mind controlled followers. And THAT is what makes this whole situation more dangerous than most people realize. We are talking " Jim Jones " influence here.
Sadly, Flipper, you are absolutely right about this.
Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT a harmless preaching organization. They have ABSOLUTE authority in the minds of their followers and their followers would follow them to the gates of hell, if they believed it existed.

Anon, keep telling her in a very calm manner that Oh, there's nothing wrong with Christmas...deal with the Birthday thing later. Tell her you know mommy doesn't like it but it's okay to think for yourself. She may be only three, but she has a brain and this is the age to train it.
As long as you remain calm, happy and smiling, she'll think of you as The Good Guy. Mommy will start to look like a crazy talker at some point.
Best wishes to you and your girl!

Panhandlegirl, you need to be in a specific category to have the New Topic display above. For instance, right now I could start a new topic under Technical Support because we are IN the Technical Support category.
If you go to the Home page, you can click on the category name you wish to post under and then you'll see New Topic displayed in the blue bar up top.
Hope this helps!
