I would like to add this to my previous comment, Mr Henman you are welcome to cast off this ungrateful lot and come to America where you will be honored and treated with respect. If not for you and you alone your ungrateful nation would have had no one represent them at the Grand Lady of Tennis, Wimbledon. I can not even fathom the anguish, sleepless night, enduring the looks of disappointment from those you love and the unrelenting abuse by people who will never achieve a fraction of the skill in their professions that you have achieved in yours.

This is one American that would consider it a great privileged to just shake your hand. These people are not worthy of you!

You Brits are merciless! The pressure you put on this great player. You dog and down a man who has to endure horrid beatings, not by other, younger, tennis players but a heartless and cruel press and public. I think Henman is an amazing person to put up with his own countryfolks. He is a classy, stand-up, family man. A well respected tennis player by his peers, and I dare any of you critics to get on court against him!

Very good idea! I've done mass mailings using business envelopes with the P.O.'s return address on them. Usually I address the letters to the Mrs. But your idea of a postcard would be more effective. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks!

after years of waiting, i finally turned 18. i remember distinctly that my mother said during an argument that i would not have to attend meetings once i turned 18. well that was a lie.

she denied ever having said such, and pulled the "under my roof" card.

so now she is saying i have to continue attending meetings until i move out.

She is most likely being pressured by the Elders to force you to stay to, "save" you!

They did the same thing to me when my daughter was thinking about baptism. I talked her out of it because she was doing it to fit in with her friends and not because she really believed. I was a member of the servant body then, but I did not want her doing it for the wrong reason. I did not think God wanted the unwilling. But the God I worship is not an extortioner. The WTS god is a petty, jealous, spite filled god who wants people frightened or guilted into serving him.

Explain to your Mom that at some point we each have to decide for ourselves what is best. God gave us free will and using extortion is not something a loving God would ever condone! Can we fool God? Would He not know if our heart was not in it? Even the government recognizes that at 18 you can enter into contracts or be sent off to war. Should you not be able to think for yourself about spiritual things? Ask her to just be there for you and love you and thank her for her love and concern. The WTS dupes will tell her to get you to agree for a set period of time to come to all the meeting and go in service, and after that time you can do what you want. I do not recommend this tactic, Mom has proven that she will not honor this. You gave the WTS all those years, you owe then no more.

Remember they have no problem lying to you to save you.

Typical mixed message. To the WTS freedom of speech is great as long as it is their freedom to speak about pushing their literature on to the unsuspecting public and not any, "dissenters" warning that same public or their own members about their false history and cover-ups! The WTS recount a little history to show they have done some research so as to prove the know what they are talking about, next they self-glorify as champions of free speech, them bring it around to the dangers of unrestrained speech. You could take any part of this and get whatever point you wanted to make. The internet is bad, talking against the WTS bad, stopping their preaching work is bad, they are all forms of the abuse of freedom of speech! This freedom of speech is more important that preventing the molesting of children or the WTS's calculated alienation of family members for its own interests!

Their right to distort the truth is a freedom but your right to disput their lies is an abuse of that same freedom.

when is a man no longer a "young man"?

i, for instance, am twenty-eight years old (ignore the avatar) and am still called "young man" to this day, by both people i"ve met in person as well as on this message board.

is it really my age?

Anyone young enough to me my child is a young person. I still am called a young man by people old enough to be a parent to me. So you're a young man to me Runner, and always will be!

Mates that trash the other parnter in front of the children

how do you feel about it when a formally together couple split up and one of them talks really bad about the other to the children just to get the kids on thier side and to turn them against the other in revenge to sooth hurt feeling?

I hated to see married people trash each other when they were cool with each other. It is no less wrong to put the children in the middle of their parents' divorce. My ex and I had it written in the divorce decree not to do this but the woman had no problem violating that than she did the marrage vows.

Remember that person you are trashing is the childs parent, their mother or father! And also think about this, you picked them, so what does your trashing them say about your ability to judge people?

Need advice from people with a JW partner

hi, i'll sum up: recently disfellowshipped, and am marrying my love, who is not a witness.

i'm jumping through the hoops to get reinstated (to get my family back, and then do the slow fade) but am going to review that choice as time goes by as i choose him as my new life, not them.

however right now i think that life will be better, long term, if i can pick up the phone and talk to my family, every now and then.

I was in the Borg for about 26 years and have been deprogrammed for two years now. I have a pretent JW GF. Her son and married daughter are active drones. She doesn't get me gifts for the Holidays but expects them on hers. She goes to a few meetings and assemblies and has a bunch of JW girl friends. It is a social thing with her because if you ask her any questions on doctrine she has no clue. I spread a rumor that we are secretly married and the Elders leave her alone. I told the PO that as long as they don't upset things for me I'll not bother them. My ex, a dub, tries all the time to cause trouble for us but the elders blow her off, as many of you ladies know they have little respect for women.

I leave the JW issues alone and so does the GF. I respect her son and daughter even though they have their JW self-righteous noses in the air. I suppose having a JW mate is like having a combat veteran for a mate. A lot of psychological trauma and deep emotional abuse is the norm for anyone in the collective for a long time.

we know what they are really saying is, that they need to chew our butts and we need to take it!

luna2, thanks for your imput. I have listened to ladies talk to each other and it is a bit of a free-for-all. Y-all seem to be cool with that. As I guy it turns me off!

My GF would ask me a question, let me start to talk, then as soon as I got to any point she was sensitive about, she would cut in and explain how I did not know what I was talking about, educate me and then, and this is the key to my frustration, never go back and let me finish what I was saying. So she jumped in before I could complete my thought and went on and on about the wrong point!

Tomorrow she will ask me about our little talk, and if I start to tell her how I feel, we will have a big-old-fight. So what's the point?

Ladies, don't ask if you're not going to let the guy tell you the truth. You get pissed if man-child lies, but you don't want the truth.

As for the E-mail, I loved to do that because I could put it all down and edit it and spell it out clearly and cleanly.. She told me she hated it when I would send her an E-mail telling her how I felt, then she would go over it line by line and set me straight!
