PO kids
by memphisbelle inthis is pretty amazing !
this girl is the daughter of a man who was a major elder in a local cong.
for years, he had no problem telling anyone within earshot how to raise their children, and tel them what they were doing wrong, and what wonderful pioneer - missionaries his kids were going to be.

Chiropractic
by sass_my_frass ini have always suspected that chiropractic is a total crock.
the concept that having your backbone crackled a little bit every month will control your blood pressure, cure your asthma and keep you mobile and flu-free until you're 120 seems farfetched, and yet all my life every time i have had a headache i have been inclined to set up an appointment.. i've really only been in serious pain three times; some bad neck pain which cleared up after a depressing relationship, some lumbar pain from a bad lift incident which cleared up after three weeks of wiggling around on a fitball while i was watching tv in the evening, and some weird shoulder pain which cleared up when i rejoined a gym.
i have wasted a lot of money for many years - chiropractic just wasn't there for me.

Depends on the chiropractor. Any chiro who tries to set you up on an extended "contract" is a crook. A good chiro will not make outrageous claims about "curing all your ailments with spinal adjustment."
I'm a huge believer AND a huge skeptic. I will not see a chiro who tells me I have to come in multiple times a week for months on end, especially if he hasn't examined me yet. I use chiropractic, occasionally, as needed for migraines (I have a rotated atlas- top vertebra, it's clearly abnormal on xray, even without anyone pointing it out. Makes the cranial foramen magnum look like a lopsided ellipse instead of a near circle.) It works for me, but I do NOT have to go all the time, just when I feel certain symptoms, and can palpate a knot in one area on my neck.
I also have clients who occasionally see chiropractors. Sometimes I send them for an adjustment because things feel "wrong" and they are having a spasm in the area. Usually one or two adjustments corrects it. I also have clients who have gone for adjustments every week for years. They are in really bad shape, I believe because of the over-treatment.
So very mixed feelings. If your gut tells you the chiro you are seeing is a crook, run away. Anyways, he fired you because you couldn't be sold oceanfront property in Arizona. Good for you.

Ha! So this is the last WT study from the "old format," right? So the next one should be "REALLY HARD," right? Well, that's what an elder told me anyways, that when the new "members only" study Watchtower came out that the articles would be much deeper. Ha! We'll see about that... I suppose it won't take much to top this one.

Typical Long-ass Rollerdavishness
by RollerDave inbad chicken is one of the worst stenches you will ever encounter, i hate the card game 'trips and runs' and certain wendy's drive thru's are open until 3am, but i get ahead of myself.. my becky's work has its christmas party in january, which is kinda odd, but also works pretty good for deflecting flack from my relatives who remain proudly captives of the crusty old codgers from crooklyn in their control tower.. we went to the party last night.
it was in a banquet hall connected to and run by a catholic church.
there was an open bar, which by local ordinance necessitated the presence of an armed off duty police officer, we had food, and the entertainment was a local 'casino service' that provides the chips the dealers, and the games; all becky's work had to provide was the prize table so we could bid on the prizes with our 'points' at the end of the evening.. there was some primo stuff there, rock band, guitar hero for x-box 360, a top end espresso machine, tools, i mean some damn good stuff.. so dinner went well, i managed to keep the carb count low, but didn't really get filled up.

Body 4 Life is a great program. Everything about it is reasonable and healthy, AS LONG as you don't lift into pain. Fatigue is different than pain, so make sure you are lifting "to fatigue/failure" safely, and doing the lift motions right (slow up, slower down.) "Lifting to failure" means you cannot do one more rep SAFELY AND CORRECTLY - NOT "when you drop the weights on the floor."
(if you did this before, Vinny, you know this, just a note for any who might be thinking of doing the program.) The book is really clear and well laid out, making this an almost foolproof system to follow.
I've been thinking of starting again myself.

Well Hello
by RichieRich ini've received several messages from friends about posting an update here.
it is true there are people here who care for/ about me, and it doesn't take too much time out of my day to just post a litte update, so i figured i would.
i heard from a little birdy with a big nose that my name has been mentioned once or twice around here, and that prompted me to stick my nose in.

Elders and JWs who study a lot...
by cognac indo you think they know its not the truth???

It totally depends on HOW they study. My mom "studies" ALL of the time, seriously, about 2 hours every day... for 34 years. She reads the WT and whatever other books are the current release or current study material, looks up every scripture, and writes them in the margin of her book and magazine. For everything. It looks really impressive. But she doesn't actually learn or research anything, so she'll probably never get it. Sad. And what a waste of time.

Switch-a-roo Publishers on Bible Studies?
by skeeter1 inwhen i studied with the jws, the first lady studied with me a few months.
then, all of a sudden.....switch-a-roo.....i was "dropped" by "lady #1" and told i had to take "lady #2".
the reason was that i needed a "more mature person" to be my guide.

Sometimes the older pioneers will "steal" the studies by convincing a "less experienced publisher" that they are unqualified. Then they will "help them out" and take over. Happens often.

One convicted, public reproof. Jail on work release program. Restraining order was not respected by the elders, in fact only some of them knew about it apparently. Two others known, un-df'd.
