I noticed that you mentioned 'getting gung up on 80 year old articles'. Its not really down to that mate. You are oversimplifying it. Not that it is complicated! Most of us are/were confused as to how a religion claiming to be guided by god can change major doctrines etc so regularly over the years. And as for the high moral standards displayed by jehovahs people, well that just made me laugh!
Please answer this Scotsman. Do you count your time here and report it on your field service report? Have you not heard how bad the internet is, why are you posting here when you know it could get you into serious trouble?
To Mrs Smith
I do not count my time here.
Why do I post here? Hmm, not sure. I think to defend the truth, though it does appear to be a waste of time to try this with those who have already "in my opinion" opted to give up.
Mrs Smith - Why do you post here? Nothing better to do????
I know that The Faithful Slave are certainly not keen for brothers and sisters to come to such forums due to the negative effect it could have on their faith.
It is a strange situation but when I come here i feel my faith strengthened, you and your friends lack continuity in argument and credability. I see no great "freedom" attained by abandoning the truth.
And regarding another poster who said he found it "funny" when I said Jehovahs Witnesses have a high moral standing - It is this type of statement that makes this entire forum lose any plausable argument. You can disagree with what we teach / believe but please have the sense and courtesy to acknowledge the good aspects of us. The majority of religions have abandoned Gods view on morals - has this made the world a better place? Teen pregnancy, Divorce rates up, gay unions / marriages and abortions - these are the reality of such a dismissive view of Jehovahs high standards.
Giving s very general viewpoint -
The conditions in this world we live in are declining continually - now surely everyone on this forum accepts this????
We are clearly heading for a crunch point in the near future. If not terrorists it will be climate change, something major and significant is on the horizon that will trigger a cataclysm of events. Some people who have no association with Jehovahs Witnesses feel this way as well.
For me - this means I stay on this side of the fence
Oh brother!
Have you not heard how bad the internet is, why are you posting here when you know it could get you into serious trouble?
This only goes to show that there are many JWs out there that are lurking/posting on many many many discussion boards.
Proving otherwise that the R&F JW DO NOT always listen and believe what the GB in NY has to say about anything.
Curiousity, doubts, unwavering faith in the leadings of the headship in Brooklyn, bad experiences with the organization...etc. These and other factors have fueled the minds of almost every JW in wondering what else can happen next, to them or to the WTS. Thus, perusing on discussion boards as this. On the otherhand, die-hard JWs stumble on such discussion boards as this when surfing on the internet among the JW web ring blogs.
It's a good thing...."to make sure of all things". (1Thessalonians 5:21)
So, all active JWs out there, apply that scripture in all areas of life. Even your faith!

Respect what Jehovah`s Witness`s teach??..Bwa-ha-ha-ha!!..Your joking right?..If I went back to a Kingdom Hall,I could no longer teach what was taught while I was there..Jehovah`s Witness`s either no longer believe old doctrines or they can`t remember ever teaching them..If I were to insist on teaching what I learned while I was there,I would be disfellowshipped..LOL!!..If I were to go against those same teachings while I was there,I would have been Disfellowshipped..You live in an Insane Asylum!..Don`t expect the rest of the world to Dumb Down,so you can feel good about yourself..LOL!!...OUTLAW
courtesy to acknowledge the good aspects of us.
What, by kicking out those who make the society look bad? I'm sorry, but the divorce rate in the society is no better than the general population. The society may claim a higher moral code, but the stats don't back that up.
The majority of religions have abandoned Gods view on morals
Back that up, please. I am sick of the society lumping all religions in a single pot as if they speak with one voice. There are many, many churches that speak up for a higher moral code. Nevertheless, Christian churches have the same rate of divorce as the rest of society, as I suspect do the witnesses.

...Divorce rates up...
Divorce rates are down. http://www.statcan.ca/english/kits/pdf/divor3.pdf

No, I do not. So what if the Watchtower Society and the media paint a dismal picture? Doom sells. One should be suspicious of the seller. There are very many good things happening to our society. Health care has improved considerably, shown by our increasing longevity. We are healthier, for longer. http://www.femhealth.com/LongevityStatistics.html

And you really believe that Jehovah's Witnesses are so different in this respect? Don't fool yourself. I am an elder and I am constantly barraged by publishers who are guilty of these very things. The different is that witnesses legislate morality. It is a condition for staying in the congregation. If you confess to, or are caught in, a immoral act you can be expelled from the congregation. So actually many witnesses do not know if they are truly moral persons or not. They do not know if they abstain from immoral acts because of a true love of Jehovah God, though they might say so. They do know that if they dare to break any of the rules and regulations laid down by God the Governing Body, there are real consequences to pay. You can only imagine what goes on in secret.
I imagine that you are a very young man. You need more life experience to see the world and the organization as it really is. Until then, being a witness is probably good for you. It keeps you busy and off the streets.
Scotsman..I have to laugh at your comment about Jehovah`s Witness Morals..They are some of the most immoral people I have ever met..Not all of them though.I wouldn`t want to paint them all with the same brush as you do the rest of the world.....Gossip is a way of life in a Kingdom Hall..Theres always somebody cheating on thier spouse..Alcoholism is rampent..You allow pedophiles to roam freely in your Kingdom Halls..And..Victims of pedophiles are punished if they complain.....In many ways your Religious Cult is a Moral Sh*tHole..And..I mean that in the nicest way possible..LOL!!...OUTLAW
