How Can We Expose Child Abusers - Who Got Away with it as Witnesses ?

Very timely thread. A fellow poster told me that last year one of the elders in a congregation in Arizona was accused by 3 different sisters of having molested them when they were quite young. Since he's not in prison, this poster phoned the congregation elders and asked if they had reported it to the police since Arizona is a Reporting State. The elder first got pretty self-righteous and said that they "had phoned Bethel and are following their direction" and that there was no need to worry---let the elders handle it.

He refused to answer 'yes' or 'no' to the question "did you report this brother to the authorities?" and started to panic when it was insinuated that a phonecall would be made one way or another. Since this all happened fairly recently, it would appear that Crooklyn is STILL attempting to hide the pedophile problem, despite knowing what the repercussions could be.

By the way, this stinking old goat that molested these girls lives right next to a public school.

    That is very upsetting Mary.

I'd like to hear what happens next, please.

Maybe we need to start a list on the internet! Let those who have been abused anonymously post the situation and name of the abuser. I'm sure that would bring on some legal issues though.

    Thanks

Thanks for all the good responses ! Lots of good ideas that I feel should be pursued in your comments.

JK- Perhaps since you know who these molesters are and what they did you could pursue revealing it to the authorities in your area since it's closer geographically to you.

LLBH- I agree that you have to have the facts straight in each case. But I'm also referring to people who knew their abusers when they were young - and now they are older pursuing the abuser to see that they get prosecuted . I agree we have to report current pedophiles to the authorities immediately !

DNTWNPHOTG- I know we can't post the abusers names on this site - as Simon would get in trouble ! We don't want that ! But those who have been abused in the past - what would prevent them from definitely pursuing their abusers in their personal lives to seek out justice against them ?

BABYLON the GREAT EMPLOYEE- I agree that people would have to be willing to testify in court as eyewitnesses to prove a molestation case. I understand the " statue of limitations " may run out in courtrooms - but that doesn't have too prevent a person from pursuing justice for themselves by confronting these people, perhaps in front of others ! You mentioned that , " publishing it in public is not protected . " well, if that's what it might take to light a fire- so be it. It might put enough pressure on someone to own up the the abuse and confess if they find out other people would discover their actions.

ASILENTONE- Private E-mail would be a good way to contact these molesters, yes. Good idea !

CRAZYBLONDEB- I truly feel for you and what you went through. It is a good thing if you have been able to see a licensed professional therapist to deal with this over the years. I can't remember if you said in our conversation if you did or not. I too would like to see you get justice over this situation as well my friend. It is so unacceptable that the elders did nothing to your step dad when he "apologized " to you in the elders meeting . Something should have been done back then. When you talked with Kimberly Norris, what did she tell you ? Either say here, or feel free to PM me.

THE ORACLE- Good post Oracle ! I too feel that by confronting these pond scum pedophiles in a very public place and way in front of eyewitnesses - it makes them more exposed ! And not as easy for them to deny it ! And very true- if just 1 child is saved it will have been worth it !

BLONDIE- Thanks for the links to the names of some of the abusers and the links to the towns and states they live in ! Much appreciated !

HILLARY STEP- I agree with you, good point. CRAZYBLONDEB should get professional help, and she probably has already, but it is good she has friends to empathize with as well.

MARY- I hope the sisters you mentioned who were abused or their families DID go to the authorities and call them about the abuse - no matter what the people at " Crooklyn" said to do. If it's criminal child abuse - every Jehovah's Witness should report it when they find out about an incident ! And not be intimidated anymore by the elders, the Watchtower society, or relatives. Justice should prevail.

ANGHARAD- I agree anonymously posting the names and situations on the internet would be good ! Don't worry Angharad , nobody will post it here ! We don't want to get you or Simon in trouble

Believe me, I have seen professional help over the years. That is why I am where I am now. I have battled suicide attempts, addictions, and everything else that there is.

Unfortunately, Kimberly Norris said there wasn't enough "proof" to try and take him to court. My sisters don't want to really get involved in sending their dad to jail. With the statue of limitations run out, there's not alot I can do.

After his 2nd marriage, I did call the orange county child protective services, and told them what he did to me. I was concerned cause the new wife had 2 small daughters. They investigated, and were divorced 6 months later.

I'm just tired of the condenscending smug pervert that he is.

I can talk about this openly now.......in the hopes that maybe i can help it from not happening to just one person! That is what makes this worth it.

CRAZYBLONDEB- I certainly admire your fortitude, and stamina in seeing your situation through as much as you can ! One thing you can be proud of is you prevented the daughters of his 2nd wife from getting molested as it seems that the 2nd wife was not going to put up with child abuse of her daughters ! Give yourself a pat on the back sis ! You did good ! And just the fact that by talking openly about your experience here- will greatly assist some who may be going through the same thing you did ! Kudos to you for dealing with it ! You will greatly assist others by what you are doing ! Take care sis ! You are deeply cared for and loved on this board ! Peace out,Mr. Flipper

Its certainly an interesting idea Flipper, I personally don't like the idea at all that these individuals initially hiding behind the Kingdom Hall doors like a wolf

amongst the sheep, then simply just getting a slap on the wrist by a group of elders after repentance in saying it was Satan's influence that made him do it all ...true bullshit.

One would have to consider though the legal problems that could occur by exposing these individuals for the simple reason they have not been brought before the

courts and charged or found guilty of the offense, for example if one of these offenders was to locate who were exposing them they could be brought up on

defamation of character charges......something to consider

I like the idea though, these people should go through the due process of law of the land just like everyone else, I bet some of the creeps laugh to

themselves constantly how easily they got away with it, God and Jesus pulled through for them again

Maybe this would be a good time to ask again "just how many of these predators do we think are out there in the JW congregations?"

Not that we think there is one behind every kingdom hall door, but I somehow get the impression that it may actually run into numbers like one per every two or three congregations. It has to be quite a few if Bethel already has a list, and a stock response answer to local elders who call in with questions.

Does anybody else have a guess on this?

HOMEROVAH- Yeah, I'm like you- I don't like the idea of these a$$wipe pedophiles hiding behind the kingdom hall doors like wolves among sheep either, waiting to pounce on innocent children. But you are right , people have to be careful about going after someone who hasn't been charged in a court of law- however if the preponderance of evidence is there from eyewitnesses , and a offender can be pressured to confess legally, I'd say the powers that be should bust their balls. There is way too much leniency ; that's what led to the problem in the first place.

JAMES WOODS- You ask a good question about how many pedophiles are in the congregations. I broke it down ratio wise . I'm not sure if the 23,000 JW pedophiles listed on the societies database file is just those pedophiles in the United States or the entire worldwide number of JW pedophiles ??? But here is how the numbers shake down if the 23,000 pedophiles are just among the congregations in the United States :

    United States Jehovah's Witness publishers : About 1,000,000 .

Pedophiles : 23,000 this would be 2.3 percent of witnesses in the United States .

Breaking the figures down it comes out to 5 pedophiles per every 233 witnesses , broken down further:

2 to 3 pedophiles per every 116 witnesses. THAT is pretty scary if these figures are just U . S.

    figures.

Now, if the 23,000 pedophiles are the worldwide total among the 6,000,000 Jehovah's Witnesses here is

how it shakes down : 23,000 pedophiles would be about .04 percent of witnesses worldwide. Breaking

the figures down it comes to 2 pedophiles per every 1,420 witnesses or 1 pedophile per every 720

witnesses . Even at those figures at any given district convention you'd have to figure there are

at least 2 to 5 pedophiles in attendance ! And considering each pedophile molests multiple children

in their twisted crimes , it gives cause for concern.

The only way to expose them IMO is to bring charges against them.

While 'name and shame' sounds good in theory, in practice you would be just opening yourself up for defamation lawsuits and quite rightly so - people would use anything like that in a malicious way to get at people they had a grievance with.

Even if someone was an abuser, I couldn't think of anything worse than opening yourself up for legal action from them and being a victim twice.
