    Myelaine,

    As we're coming into the blessed Christmas season, I'm reminded of these lines from Handel's Messiah (Isa. 9:6).

    6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

    Or, as the song says:

    "Unto us a son is given

    Unto us a son is given

    And the government will be upon his shoulders

    And they'll call him

    Wonderful

    Counselor

    Almighty God

    The Everlasting Father

    The Prince of Peace"

    You know, even those silly J-Dubs know that the Prince of Peace is Jesus. Isn't it nice to see hear in the book of Isaiah how Jesus is called the Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace? What a wonderful provision from Our Lord Jesus, to show us that He, the Prince of Peace, is also the Mighty God, hundreds of years before He was born.

    You know, I so appreciate REAL christian music, where the lyrics are taken directly from the scriptures, like in The Messiah, unlike those lame songs at the KH that are merely brain-washing instructions about going from House-to-House and Door-to-Door selling useless pieces of paper. Being able to enjoy music like Handel's Messiah is one of the real blessings of being out of that crazy, mindless WTS cult.

    Here's a link to this on YouTube. Enjoy!

    StAnn,

    Renaia will probably turn around and say Jesus is called mighty God but not Almighty God. How many times did we use that arguement ourselves in service?

    Trouble is Renaia is like we all were at one time. We had WT blinders on and only interpreted the way the WT taught us too. Now we read the scriptures in their context and we do not add words or take words out that do not fit into our preconcieved theology.

    If she would read the scriptures and really THINK about them, according to their context, she may actually learn something.

    Apostate,

    You made some excellent points!

    Lill,

    You are correct, of course. If only she would limit herself to JW-only websites, instead of showing her ignorance here, with those of us who know better.

    Enough about Reniaa.

    Moving from Christmas to Easter, this is a song I loved singing at Easter Mass:

    Were J-Dubs allowed to watch The Passion of the Christ? It was so wonderful!

    Lill, what's the difference in "mighty God and Almighty God"? None, that I see, if you read Isa. 9 in context, which Dubs won't do. Funny, though, I never heard this back in the days when I was a Dub. Seems to me that the Dubs claim to believe in One God, so how could they possibly refer to Jesus as a "mighty God" and then claim to be monotheistic? That would be Dub-heresy. Unless they really do worship multiple Gods. Oh, yeah, they worship the GB/FDS first, then they worship Jehovah, then they worship their DO's and CO's, then they worship their PO's. I keep forgetting, silly me.

    Normally, I wouldn't recommend a Dolly Parton song, but I had just become a Christian (post-JW, of course) when she released this song and it made me cry:

    St Ann, and others,

    Thanks!

    We will post more Christian music, (Matthew 26:30; Mark 14:26; I Samuel 18:6; II Samuel 6:5; I Chronicles 15:16; cf. 13:8; 15:19, 28; 16:5. 16:45; II Chronicles 5:12, 13; etc.)

    But first, more importantly, from the prophecy of our Lord, who redeemed us and gave us Grace (undeserved kindness):

    ISAIAH 53:

    Who has believed our message?

    And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

    2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot,

    And like a root out of parched ground;

    He has no stately form or majesty

    That we should look upon Him,

    Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.

    3 He was despised and forsaken of men,

    A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;

    And like one from whom men hide their face

    He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

    4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore,

    And our sorrows He carried;

    Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,

    Smitten of God, and afflicted.

    5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions,

    He was crushed for our iniquities;

    The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,

    And by His scourging we are healed.

    6 All of us like sheep have gone astray,

    Each of us has turned to his own way;

    But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all

    To fall on Him.

    7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

    Yet He did not open His mouth;

    Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,

    And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers,

    So He did not open His mouth.

    8 By oppression and judgment He was taken away;

    And as for His generation, who considered

    That He was cut off out of the land of the living

    For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?

    9 His grave was assigned with wicked men,

    Yet He was with a rich man in His death,

    Because He had done no violence,

    Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.

    10 But the LORD was pleased

    To crush Him, putting Him to grief;

    If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,

    He will see His offspring,

    He will prolong His days,

    And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.

    11 As a result of the anguish of His soul,

    He will see it and be satisfied;

    By His knowledge the Righteous One,

    My Servant, will justify the many,

    As He will bear their iniquities.

    12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,

    And He will divide the booty with the strong;

    Because He poured out Himself to death,

    And was numbered with the transgressors;

    Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,

    And interceded for the transgressors.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    MICAH 7:

    Woe is me! For I am

    Like the fruit pickers, like the grape gatherers.

    There is not a cluster of grapes to eat,

    Or a first-ripe fig which I crave.

    2 The godly person has perished from the land,

    And there is no upright person among men.

    All of them lie in wait for bloodshed;

    Each of them hunts the other with a net.

    3 Concerning evil, both hands do it well.

    The prince asks, also the judge, for a bribe,

    And a great man speaks the desire of his soul;

    So they weave it together.

    4 The best of them is like a briar,

    The most upright like a thorn hedge.

    The day when you post your watchmen,

    Your punishment will come.

    Then their confusion will occur.

    5 Do not trust in a neighbor;

    Do not have confidence in a friend.

    From her who lies in your bosom

    Guard your lips.

    6 For son treats father contemptuously,

    Daughter rises up against her mother,

    Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

    A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.

    God Is the Source of Salvation and Light

    7 But as for me, I will watch expectantly for the LORD;

    I will wait for the God of my salvation.

    My God will hear me.

    8 Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy.

    Though I fall I will rise;

    Though I dwell in darkness, the LORD is a light for me.

    9 I will bear the indignation of the LORD

    Because I have sinned against Him,

    Until He pleads my case and executes justice for me.

    He will bring me out to the light,

    And I will see His righteousness.

    10 Then my enemy will see,

    And shame will cover her who said to me,

    "Where is the LORD your God?"

    My eyes will look on her;

    At that time she will be trampled down

    Like mire of the streets.

    11 It will be a day for building your walls.

    On that day will your boundary be extended.

    12 It will be a day when they will come to you

    From Assyria and the cities of Egypt,

    From Egypt even to the Euphrates,

    Even from sea to sea and mountain to mountain.

    13 And the earth will become desolate because of her inhabitants,

    On account of the fruit of their deeds.

    14 Shepherd Your people with Your scepter,

    The flock of Your possession

    Which dwells by itself in the woodland,

    In the midst of a fruitful field.

    Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead

    As in the days of old.

    15 "As in the days when you came out from the land of Egypt,

    I will show you miracles."

    16 Nations will see and be ashamed

    Of all their might.

    They will put their hand on their mouth,

    Their ears will be deaf.

    17 They will lick the dust like a serpent,

    Like reptiles of the earth.

    They will come trembling out of their fortresses;

    To the LORD our God they will come in dread

    And they will be afraid before You.

    18 Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity

    And passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession?

    He does not retain His anger forever,

    Because He delights in unchanging love.

    19 He will again have compassion on us;

    He will tread our iniquities under foot.

    Yes, You will cast all their sins

    Into the depths of the sea.

    20 You will give truth to Jacob

    And unchanging love to Abraham,

    Which You swore to our forefathers

    From the days of old.

    StAnn,

    Thanks for the wonderful music.

    I agree with you, there is no difference between Mighty God and Almighty God, but I have seen many jdubs try to argue this point. What they don't realize is Jesus is also called "Everlasting Father". Like you said, the Witnesses know Christ is the Prince of Peace and cite that Isaiah Text, but never finish it to the end.

    This is an important prophecy about our Lord Jesus, so I am going to cite it again here;

    Isaiah 9:

    6 For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given,
    and the government will be on his shoulders.
    And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

    Apostate,

    Thanks for sharing those verses. Now this is really a thread discussing the Bible. Peace to all, Lilly
