I am new here, too.
For the same reasons as you.
I have found alot of healing from this forum and from some of the "regulars" here - can't express my thanks to them because they don't realise how they have helped (Mrs. Jones, Mouthy, AllTime Jeff, Amazing, FlyingHighNow, JamieBowers, and even John Doe!!)
Keep reading, that's what I'm doing right now, too.
I'll watch for your posts....
cantleave: I am so happy you are here. I am new here too. It is great to bounce feelings and ideas off from all the great people here. I have talked to a few people here on the the phone, email and facebook. This is where I feel understood, and I know you will too. It's not about everyone here being anti-JW. It is that many of us are searching for the truth about the "Truth". Many of us are still baptized members sorting through it all. Welcome, and don't be so hard on yourself please!
The 'truth about the truth'? or looking for perfection were it doesn't exist?
Hi cantleave I can understand you but I cannot agree, I look at all the pulls of satans system around me and know the imperfect men/women both annointed, elders, CO's, DO's, pioneers, right down to the person sitting in the kingdom hall and myself, are all going to have that pull to sin and wrongly do things. I know I could have someone wrongly accuse me of things as a witness or get passed over for what I think are human reasons or see others manipulating the system for greed and ambitious reasons. these are all signs of satans system Witnesses can fight these inclinations but they cannot escape them.
Refinement is the name of the game! especially with doctrinal issues, I expect my leaders to serve me and not just be figureheads enjoying the power without the responsibility, they need to keep the congregation clean to fight the pull to conform to cultural norms which atm is a tendency to moral turpitude. look at the appostles they were always snipping at each other and fighting they even took Jesus's words at one point misapplying them completely thinking that one of them wouldn't die until jesus's return.
Have you bought into the idea that because they are elders/co/do etc they won't fall foul of sin through imperfection?
with the exception of jesus every single bible person had sin to deal especially the leaders - moses got arrogant, david got murderous, solomon got pagan, appostles got ambitious wanting to know who was greatest, paul always had issues to fight in himself and constantly counciling the others to be in agreement over doctrinal stuff, he even had to deal with people misusing the holy spirit gifts and just plain disagreements.
36 Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing." 37 Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, 38 but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. 39 They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord.
Paul and barnabus were part of the gb/annointed of their day, which one here was holy spirit guided to pick the correct person to be part of their group? the bible doesn't say it just shows that these things happen under imperfection and it's how we personally deal with it not letting it stumble our faith in Jehovah and his son jesus. These disagreements do not change one word of what is written. Or that God himself expects us to follow the message he sent for us with his son and all it's moral/prophetic/command ramifications and not giving up on each other because we think we can walk a better road alone.
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
I wish you well cantleave
Reniaa
How arrogant you seem to be Reniaa, he's not asking you to agree with him. But you are free to express your opinion.
Spike Tassel (Post 71): Josie (Post 9498) says Reniaa (Post 1636) seems to be arrogant. I say reniaa's trying to help cantleave reason on matters in a more balanced way. As Renia said, disagreements are the lot of us imperfect people. I think that this forum is excellent, myself. Rather than just stomping off at the first spat, we seem to be learning how to listen to another even just a little better than before, and to express ourselves ever more tactfully. Practice, practice, practice. May there be increasing peaceableness between each and all of us. We each have much to contribute to the progress of the others, as we match spiritual words to spiritual thoughts more effectively through use.
Spike Tassel, Reniaa.
According to your leaders we are the evil slave class and condemned to go to gehenna and the second death. Why would you want to reason with us? We have already been judged according to your leaders.
I think it's great that there are more and more active witnesses that are willing to ignore the propaganda of the GB and come to forums like this.
I agree Borg, it reflects that independent thinking is a hard habit to break. That's a good thing.
Spike Tassel (Post 75) re The-Borg (Post 348): Among all that have been in human form, I recognize only Jesus Christ as my leader, as per Mat.23:10. As long as there living faith and love, there is hope and reason.

Oh dear, you better tell Reniaa that, she keeps calling them leaders. Thanks for ignoring my question.
