No one advocates against positive change, sixer. The thought is ridiculous. Everyone alive wants positive change. The difference, however, regards what that is.

No they don't. Many people fear change that it clearly positive for the group, because it might possibly upset the delicate balance of their own lives. It's fear and it's ego and it's lack of imagination as much as it is selfishness.

Or did you not realize that all the crap we are hearing today was also bandied about when voting rights and social security and medicare were being attempted?

Krugman is a tool. Sorry but that's the truth. I've seen his political ramblings intelligently trashed so many times it gives me heartburn.

The American system produces the most advanced and rapidly advancing medical technology. We are the undisputed leaders. Why? Our system rewards more than others. Kill that goose and you will lose the golden eggs. I want to live a long, long time. Aging and death are not magic. They are physical processes. They can be reverse engineered and reversed. We are on the cusp. Humanity deserves better than the tens of thousands of years of death and misery we have suffered since we became sentient and self-aware. We deserve better. We are not animals. We are humans. I want to see a world where no one need die unless they wish to. Let's not derail this train.

No one has yet responded to the facts in my post in page two. 2/3 of the Nobel laureates in medicine. 75% of the globe's R&D. The lion's share of new pharmas and therapies. Don't kill the goose to get even with those that have more than you. Envy causes some to cut their noses off to spite their faces. The poorest of us here have access to medicine that is better than what the wealthiest had just 20 years ago. Think about that. We subsidize Europe's socialized model with our advances, which benefit them as well as us.

More R&D

More Nobel prizes

More medical device technology firsts

More eating

More paying for healthcare

The one thing they do less of is living.

Maybe if they would spend less on eating they would pay less for food and less for healthcare and live longer.

Seems to me that America needs to learn a bit more about the concept of less.
