No one has yet responded to the facts in my post in page two. 2/3 of the Nobel laureates in medicine. 75% of the globe's R&D. The lion's share of new pharmas and therapies. Don't kill the goose to get even with those that have more than you.

That's basically what I've been saying burns.

Maybe if they would spend less on eating they would pay less for food and less for healthcare and live longer.

We definitely need some lifestyle changes.

JD...Please go back I had to edit my post.

I have seen a whole lot of greed with aging parents...already billed to the government for absolutely no good reason!

MIL needed to be ok'd for excercise in a heated pool for seniors...She's a healthy 85.

We spent 3 hours waiting in the dr's. office, he finally came in and said yep, its ok. 5 minutes total. The gov was billed over 150.00.

My MIL fainted at lunch in a high end retirement home.....She spent 2 days in the hospital with unending tests... A week later she fainted again, and they kept her a week , doing unending tests, scans, etc., all paid for by the governement.

In the end...nothing was wrong...she just was tired from the pool work out because she didn't eat breakfast.

You talk about waste of money???????????

America does more of most things:
    More R&D
    More Nobel prizes
    More medical device technology firsts
    More eating
    More paying for healthcare
The one thing they do less of is living.
Maybe if they would spend less on eating they would pay less for food and less for healthcare and live longer.
Seems to me that America needs to learn a bit more about the concept of less.

Besty, I tease a lot, but I do respect your opinon. However, I think if we (all of us) offer up solutions rather that dinging the faults, we'd be more productive. (Can I super size that?)

It's a shame America's undoubted heavyweight contribution to R&D has largely ignored stem cell research.

Well you supersized your quote boxes - that's another world first maybe? :-)))

In answer to your request, the solutions have been presented for many decades.

It's not a secret how other countries manage to do more with less.

BUT, it seems that - absent any other reason - some people are ideologically opposed to government intervention. Except for the fire service, the police, the schools, the libraries, the street lighting, the garbage collection, road building and maintenance, aviation infrastructure, defense.....apart from those things.....

Road building? have you seen the streets in Richmond?

    aviation? laughable.
