Mad says:
Mad: Very possible! However, subjects in the Kingdom will be those in the New Heavens and the New Earth.
My reply: Please back up your two-class system of one group in another physical location from the other group of Christians.
MadJW, I am well aware that the WTS has arguments that these verses don't mean what they say. My point is a simple one, namely that the WTS ignores these verses. And let me take the opportunity to thank you for performing scriptural gymnastics and showing exactly why the WTS clergy / JW laity ignore them.
Please keep up the good work. You make my points better than I can.
Best Regards, Olin.
MadJW seems to wish to take the word "ignore" literally and singularly. If the scripture EVER appeared JUST ONCE in a Borg publication, he claims that it isn't "ignored."
When I started this thread, however, I was careful to use the hyphenated word "most-ignored" in the subject line. This indicates that being ignored isn't an absolute, but has varying degrees. For instance, a scripture cited in the 1950s Watchtower but not once since, HAS BEEN IGNORED FOR HALF A CENTURY. One cited in 1999 but not once since, HAS BEEN IGNORED FOR OVER A DECADE.
This isn't rocket science. This thread is to discuss the "most-ignored" scriptures, both IN literature and perhaps in side-discussions in daily/weekly use by Dubs in service and at meetings. Most of you "get it" thankfully.
Carry on. It's fun to see, in moderation.
Something very interesting about Matt 8:11, which says in the NWT:
11 But I tell YOU that many from eastern parts and western parts will come and recline at the table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens;
The WT symbolized the 3 patriarchs.
Turn to the parallel account in Luke 13:28-9:
28 There is where [ YOUR ] weeping and the gnashing of [ YOUR ] teeth will be, when YOU see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves thrown outside. 29 Furthermore, people will come from eastern parts and western, and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.
Look at your trusty ol WT CD and the characters are not symbolized. Why? Because the WT does not know who to symbolize the prophets as.
Mad S babbles: "When I started this thread, however, I was careful to use the hyphenated word "most-ignored" in the subject line. This indicates that being ignored isn't an absolute, but has varying degrees."
MadJW: Its deception to imply we ignore ANY; we simply DON'T....now if you're talking CHURCHianity, you have a universe of examples!
Pretty much all of Acts Chapter 1
In particular:
5 For John baptized with a water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
“It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
Or how about in Acts where it was BY DIVINE PROVIDENCE that Jesus followers were first called Christians...yet the org insists on a different name.

This is textbook trolling folks. First, the ad hominem use of "babbles" and then an accusation of "deception" amid an 18 page thread full of evidence to the contrary. It was supposed to be my cue to get angry and show everyone just how hateful "opposers" are toward those "in the truth" but I'm not really interested in falling for it.
I am not "implying" anything, by the way. I am stating outright that many important Christian and Hebrew scriptures go ignored by the WTS and/or by rank and file JWs for long periods of time because the WT explanation of them is uncomfortable due to either painting the organization in a negative light or to being completely fabricated and without support.
MadJW said: Mad: Only in your mind. How did they GET to that 'house' FIRST place? Acts 8:4- Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. (Market Places, synagogues, on the street- and, yes, from door-to- door. ) Acts 20: 20- You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.
Mad, I would like to direct you to an analysis I did as to whether or not the first century Christians actually preached door to door the way Witnesses do:
In particular, Acts 20:20 is not talking about knocking on strangers' doors Saturday morning. The footnote on page 56 of the Organization Book states:
"As regards the translation "from house to house" (kat' oi' kous) in Acts 20:20, which some modern translators would render as: "at your houses" (AT), "in your homes" (Je;NE), "in private" (NA), Doctor Robertson has this to say on pages 349, 350 paragraph 1: "and from house to house (kai kat'oikous). By (according to) houses-----It is worth noting that the greatest of preachers preached from house to house and did not make his visits merely social calls. He was doing kingdom business all the while as in the house of Aquila and Priscilla. (1 Cor. 16:19)"
Paul would not either be making "social calls" or even "kingdom business" with total strangers. Aquila and Priscilla were both Christians and it is obvious that Paul was "doing business" in their house. The earliest Christians did not have a specific meeting place and they would meet in various believers' homes (like the Bookstudy used to be). As per usual, the WT twists the scriptures to mean something that they do not.
