    Please define "God".

The creator of the physical universe, dear LWT (peace to you!)... vs. an accidental event... which "creator" would include the entity/individual/person/being that caused the origin of the physical universe by setting off the "Big Bang."

Yes, I know that some scientists don't believe this to be a person but just simply an occurrence set off by some unknown event (for some, an atomic collision or similar event)... which they call "God." I am not speaking of those, however. As to all of them, I must say that I do find it interesting that such "knowledgeable" folk teach a couple/few things regarding the "Big Bang" that tend to defy "logic". But that's another thread, entirely.

    Again, peace to you!

    To LIVE.

We are the only species on this planet that has the ability and and desire to DO THINGS.

We are the only one with the capability to make plans and carry them out, to create experiences for ourselves.

And THAT is the meaning of life. To spend our time creating experiences to hopefully enjoy.

And the same as all species, to reproduce our kind.

Looking to the future is a false hope promoted by religions the like that distracts people from living in the NOW.

NOW is all we have, tomorrow does not yet exist. How we got here and if there is some sort of universal higher power or some cosmos to go to after death does not matter. Man has been arguing about that since day dot.

Call me arrogant, call me a twit, i don't care! But one thing i do know after 37 years as a JW is that living for the future destroys living for now.

I remember a conversation I had w a former JW friend as I was 'falling out of the truth', in which she said 'what purpose do people in the world really have?'

This just sounded so arrogant, ignorant, and presumptous!

And this is how JW's are closed-off. It is engrained in them to think that if you aren't living the way theyv'e laid out so precisely (according to their very own special interpretation of the bible) ..then my god, you are just without any purpose or hope.

    It really is narrow thinking.

There are other ways to think. Their are other ways to believe, if you wish. There are other ways that don't isolate or divide.

It may seem scary to imagine that the paradise utopia is not the ultimate, but if you can let that go, then there is a sort of freedom in not clinging so very tightly to a fantastic dream that comes at a such a high price.

Maybe there is an afterlife, maybe we'll find out...after-life...

We are all capable of expanding our minds, changing our perspective, growing...if you are conflicted inside, it's ok, you're human. (as a JW, are people really allowed to be human?)

I wish you peace in your quest

    carpe diem,

Wow, I have no words for such a way of thinking. Life is great, live it! If you've been a JW for many of your formative years, you have been told that this life is worthless, and only a way to the life you reeeeeeeeally want to live. That's crap! It took me 45 years to figure it out, but it's true!

    Welcome sayitsnotso!

There is one hope, but it isn't the WT or even the name "Jehovah".

    Ephesians 4:4-5 (New International Version)

4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism

1 Thessalonians 1:3 (New International Version)

3 We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Titus 2:13 (New International Version)

13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ

1 Timothy 1:1 (New International Version)

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope

    Blessings,

    Stephen

    Acts 19:9 (New International Version)

9 But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

No, just your twisted Westernized Euro-Nordic fictional version of a Jew that once lived in Palestine....totally different. Your Trinitarian version makes mythical figures like Thor and Zeus look like woosie boys...........

But when you are in a Cult, the Cult of the Trinity, its hard to see, but you'll get there.........
