How is that any different than receiving a finnacial instrument as a gift?

You don't think it's a conflict of interest, being that financial instrument (and any benefit from it) comes from making war? Would part ownership in a brothel be an acceptable gift too?

Ok, let's not call sayitsnotso lazy. He came here with questions, let's answer him and encourage him to do his own research. Just my take.

I pay taxes. Does that mean I invest in war as well since some of my money goes to it?

That is for 2002. I'm curious if there is a more recent archive of that document.

Really trying to grasp at straws eh?

Obviously there would be a point when something would be unacceptable and a point where something would be up to the individual to decide. Also noteworthy is that many comparisons are not perfectly matched either.

So to answer you directly, if one condemns brothels, but partly owns one by directly buying, or even receiving as a gift, shares of the bethel ownership, then yes that would seem at best to be a conflict of interst, and at worst hypocrytical.

But in the case of Reg/Regi Technologies (the investment being considered), Here is what their website says (http://www.regtech.com/Radmax_Technology/Military_Application/):

REGI U.S. is in the business of designing, developing, and manufacturing axial vane type rotary engines (RC/DC or RadMax™ engines) for commercial and civilian applications. Jointly with parent company Reg Technologies, Inc, REGI U.S., Inc. owns the marketing and intellectual rights to the RadMax™ rotary technology.

You see the two parts? Part one says they are in the business in the commercial and civilian sectors. Part two says that REGI US and Reg Technologies own the rights to RadMax. It's here that I think some of you take issue. On the quoted webpage it goes on to say:

Research and development programs since 1987 have developed a number of RadMax™ engine designs to address many large markets including transportation, power generation, agricultural, landscaping equipment, marine, construction, power tools, pumps, and compressors (both heat and air conditioning). Additionally, RadMax™ engines for unmanned autonomous vehicles in military and civilian commercial applications represent an enormous market opportunity and the focus of the Company's current R&D and business development efforts.

The comparison between a brothel and REGI U.S. is not a perfect apples to apples comparision (remember I said that many comparisons are not perfectly matched). Income from a brothel is 100% related to the activities that generated those profits. The same cannot be said regarding the profits from REGI U.S.

Consider another comparsion, not exactly the same, but still... If I worked as a clerk at a quicky mart. The majority of the sales would likely be tobacco products and lottery tickets. My income would in part come from those sales. So does that mean I'm profiting from tobacco and lottery tickets?

    sayitsnotso,

Interesting what scandals or doctrines about the WTS that irks different people, isn't it?

the RAND-CAM never bothered me that much. Sure, it's hypocritical being that the WTS preaches not being involved in war or politics, to the point of encouraging it's young men to go to jail instead of being drafted. But it's easy enough to sweep that criticism aside as lack of judgement, or a mistake.

Similarly the UN-NGO scandal. That one bothered me more, as the WTS really bashed the UN all those years but then was found in bed with them....or should I say, riding the back of the beast...kinda like the rest of Christendom....but again, it's easy enough to cite lack of judgement...a mistake on one or two person's fault, disassociate yourself from the system and move on.

It's the false prophecies and the claims of being God's Earthly Channel that is most damning to this religion. If they are God's Channel, then somewhere along the way God lied...or the Channel lied. If God can't lie, then the Channel lied...and if the Channel lied, then God would surely no longer use them as his Channel. Can the Channel claim they erred? Not if they're God's Channel...they spoke in his name. The Bible condemns prophets who speak in God's name and who are in error. By their fruits they have damned themselves.

You can keep looking at all the RAND-CAM stuff and UN-NGO stuff for knowledge but to prove if this religion is God's true religion, you need to focus on their teachings, their prophecies and their record over the years

The one thing you can see from all these different angles of showing the errors of the WTS is that many people who left the JWs didn't do so because they were possessed or evil or selfish...they saw something that bothered their conscience to the point that they could no longer allow themselves to be aligned with such a dishonest organization. And believe me...on this thread, we're just scratching the surface of the dishonesty that is the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

I could say the same thing about the REGI U.S. SEC document. But doesn't really do anything about the validity of the charge.

I dunno, I'm starting to get the idea we've seen "sayitsnotso" on here before in a different guise....something seems quite familiar here....

Or, giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe all apologist arguments start to sound the same after a while.

sayitsnotso, on what basis do you make the claim that the org following the GB direction is God's organization? What Biblical basis is there for such a claim that God has an appointed human channel one must identify with?

But didn't this happen in Noah's Day?

No, it was an urban legend of it's time.

Guys, this is an undercover JW....don't feed the troll.
