OUTLAW, now that you've "proved" homeopathy actual works to me with that incredibly long paragraph what is my next step?

How do I get the American Medical Association to accept its tenets? Or, is every single physician who has dedicated himself to doing no harm and to helping those suffering part of a great conspiracy to defraud the public by not embracing Homeopathy?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

    But, seriously folks......

Wow! Did I hit a nerve with you or what? You can't just ignore me--I'm setting myself up with godlike powers of authority to enforce my will on others! Where does that come from? Why are you so threatened by my criticism of Homeopathy?

Do you earn your living from it? Is that what it is?

    Or what?

You're funny, Terry. Please take your own advice....or not. Methinks, when you've run out of legitimate argument, you resort to the equivalent of a child grabbing all his toys up in a temper tantrum and going home.

Bull's eye! That's obviously an accurate description of me. How do you do it? Psychic connections?

I've used homeopathy on animals and it works on them, and they're not particularly subject to the placebo effect.

No, I can't explain it, but it seems to work.

People thought acupuncture didn't work and was quackery until machines actually measured chi (electro chemical energy in the human body) flow and how the needles affect it. It also explains, to some extent, how massage therapy, chiropractory, reflexology works and other "touch" therapies, too.

Homeopathy claims to work on the cellular, molecular level, so it very well could as that's kind of hard to observe except by reaction. And yes, it IS accepted medicine in Europe, along with herbal remedies. They just have a different and more eclectic medical philosophy in some places than in the US.

Medicine has always been fairly rigidly taught in the US...my nursing instructor admitted it takes about 10 to15 years for new tech and knowledge to filter down to the practical level for most hospitals and practices.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Terratio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

    And mine too.

A grandfather, looking back on a long life, gave little BTS some advice:

The secret to success, BTS, is to pick a convincing line of bullshit and stick with it.

Wow! Terry DOES have FAITH in something! The American Medical Association.

Terry, I know you are old enough to remember when doctors actually diagnosed and treated a medical condition. What do the newer physicians coming out of medical schools in the last couple of decades do? Think. They have been taught mainly to treat the symptoms with a pill....a pharmaceutical. (Gotta love those pharmaceutical companies....their influence extends to all corners.)

Not that I'm against medicine, but I'm also old enough to remember when a doctor was a doctor....not a pill pusher. Some people are taking their own health into their own hands on some basic level because they see the abuses and ineptitude that is so rampant.

Every time I turn around stuff I thought was fairly normal for a 50 year old woman to have, like occasional leg cramps at night, is now a "syndrome" and they have a rather expensive pill to treat it.

I know how to cure it already thanks. Eat more bananas (for potassium), drink more water and rub my damn legs with Tiger Balm.

I already get half my breakfast out of the medicine cabinet, and there comes a point when you just have to say "no" to drugs...and your friendly neighborhood drug pushing MD.

I'll bet lots of doctors have lots of pharmaceutical companies in their stock portfolios! Here's a prescription. It may cause bloating or swelling, hair loss, diarhhea, rashes, or heart palpitations, but we have another pill for those. It also might cause side effects, but there is another pill for those as well, and so on and so on.

A doctor gave me the now banned drug Vioxx for my fibromyalgia, which was worse then, mild now. It's a cox-2 inhibitor, and the only one someone who is allergic to sulfa drugs could take. The others on the market, Bextra and Celebrex, have a sulfa component I'm highly allergic to.

Anyway, I took 25mg for a while then was told to up the dosage to 50. When I did that, my hair starting falling out alarmingly...not just a few hairs in the sink, I mean like I was having chemotherapy falling out! I thought it might be the Vioxx, so I asked the pharmacist. Sure enough, it's one of the rarer side effects of the drug, and it's recommended you cut down the dosage when that happens.

"Screw this." says I, "Anything that makes you react like you're having chemo can't be that good for you." So, I quit taking it. Six months later Vioxx was pulled off the market for lethal side effects, including permanent heart valve problems. Yay for the fricking FDA.
