DO you follow any of these quacks, charlatans, liars, mystics or self-promoters?

The only one I like on the list is Oprah. I think Sylvia Brown and John Edwards are full of shit. I've watched both of them and IMO, they're both just con artists. Sylvia Brown was on Larry King Live one night and someone called in for a reading. Poor Sylvia got no hits beyond stating that she 'saw something in the chest area' of the callers' elderly father. Well duuuuuuuuh!!! Chances are, if your dad's in his 70's or 80s, he's probably got problems with his heart, lungs or circulation. I also watched that duffus John Edwards a couple of times when he had his show on TV. He does was we learned in one of my Psychology classes: he talks so damn fast and spews out so many possibilities that chances are, he's going to eventually get a hit.

While I hope and believe that there is an afterlife, I have yet to see any of these 'mystics' convince me that they can do anything much beyond suck the money out of your pocket.

I grew up in a household where the dominant male (my grandad) was a "health enthusiast". He read all the books by Adele Davis, Prevention magazine, J.I. Rodale, etc.

My grandad ordered vitamins by the caseload. He took 93 vitamins per day. He popped them in his mouth constantly.

I was given blackstrap molasses and ate honeycombs and took Royal jelly by the spoonful.

I was given books and pamphlets to read and lectures to listen to about the conspiracy of the AMA to supress this and that.

My grandad was also searching for the "true religion". This meant the same (shall we say) enthusiasm was expended in that direction

toward Buddhism, Mormonism, various christianities, etc.

Why am I telling you all this?

I grew up around EXTREME thinking and TOTAL EXCLUSIONARY belief systems.

Is it any wonder I became a Jehovah's Witness?

Is it any wonder I now am very wary of fringe beliefs and those who espouse them?

I'm not condemning your sacred cows nor belittling your fringe beliefs or telling you how stupid you are.

I'm just trying to caution about necessary skepticism as a "pilot light" forever burning in the background of your consciousness.

    That's all.

    Take a chill pill.

One other point though I'd like to mention, is that the tide seems to be slowly turning when it comes to medical doctors and alternative medicine. I've recently joined the Life Extension Foundation. They are regular medical doctors who are showing that there are many, many natural substances that have been documented to help with (and even cure) diseases and conditions that your doctor will normally prescribe a drug for. This is not just heresy. If you look on the website I provided above, you can start browsing and see that many of these natural substances have been tried and tested and the results have been documented in peer reviewed articles. Not too long ago, one of the pharmeceutical companies tried getting a patent on Curcumin as it shows promise for Alzheimers, cancer, arthritis and a whole host of other ailments. They were told "forget it....it's not a drug. It's been around for thousands of years and you can't hold a patent on it." I bought some Curcumin for my parents but did not tell them that it can be used as an anti-inflammatory (they both have arthritis). My mother asked me the next day "is that an anti-inflamatory? Because my knee feels much better."

And, for anyone suffering from Acid Reflux, I would strongly recommend getting D-Limonine . I got it last week and holy smokes does it work good!!

If you like what you see on their site, you can get a membership for $75.00/year. There is a wealth of information on there regarding cancer, leukemia, heart attacks, ADD, Dementia......just type in whatever you want information on in the top right hand corner and hit "Search". I think you'll like what you see.

Bottom line for me is NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT whatever "god" is or might be.

True Terry , all gods have been structure and created out of human ignorance of the world we live in.

Based on that premise arguing what kind of god/gods there are whether its good, mediocre or bad is futilely redundant.

Even though the selling of gods is still graciously rewarding for those who pursue this endeavor.

6.Be willing to be wrong. Be willing to be wrong. Be willing to be wrong!

So Terry, tell us about those times you've been wrong (aside from the obvious JW affiliation). Inquiring minds want to know.

    1. You can inherit memory. I attributed genius to inherited memory (like a flatworm.)

    2. Women are naturally inferior to men. That's why there are so few "great" women inventors, geniuses, writers, etc.

3.You can simply "know" things without having to learn them. It is called "noetics". You are born with built-in ideals.

4.Perpetual motion could be achieved using magnetized steel ball-bearings in a circular tube with bar magnets placed outside at regular intervals "pushing" the little darlings around.

5.Burt Bacharach was a hack composer and Bob Dylan's songs were nothing more than rhyming dictionary fodder.

    6.Jazz is mindless noise.

    7.Rembrandt was my favorite painter.

8.A College education is a waste of time if you teach yourself what you need to know.

9.Philosophy consists of people who know nothing convincing other people who know nothing that they know something worth knowing.

    10.I'm attracted to blondes.

11.The Bible is the inerrant word of God

12.A very large vocabulary enables you to communicate more easily

How's that for being dead wrong?

Your previous posts betray your next Strawman posted above..

You have lost a lot of credibility on this thread..

If your name was not attached to this thread,I would have thought someone like MadJW had written it..

You need to take a good look at this thread and decide if thats the person you want to be..

I can honestly say, "nope". Don't follow any of these guys. Although I have seen them from time to time. I love those guys who claim to speak with the dead. They ask a million questions, until they finally get close to any semblance of truth.

Kevin Trudeau a liar? Surely you jest!

P.S. That ripoff artist has another radio show here in the Monterey, CA area on 540 am on Sunday mornings. After all of the legal crap and restraining orders he has received, he again is broadcasting his BS.

    I'm not interested in "credibility."

I'll say what I say and let the chips fall where they may.

If calling out those who follow self-promoters and charlatans bruises egos and creates animus that's just a price which has to be paid, imho.

This is a Discussion Board, like it or lump it.
