    Believers-

Why does your God hide under an umbrella...

Better to be considered a heathen, then to be a person showy in displays of righteousness.

I also loved what you said, Shelby (peace also to you). Just a straightforward account of what you know, see, and do. Thank you.

I am recovering just fine, dear Loz (the greatest of love and peace to you, dear one... and to you, too, dear tec!).

Better to be considered a heathen, then to be a person showy in displays of righteousness.

I would agree, dear Jay (peace to you!): better to be almost anything than a person showy in displays of righteousness; however, in the world we live in, better to be a heathen than to be almost anything else, yes? (Whispers) By the way, showy displays of righteousness... aren't righteousness at all. Regardless, it's always best to tell the truth regarding matters such as the OP presented, yes? Otherwise, why respond at all?

Why does your God hide under an umbrella...

My God doesn't hide at all, dear designs (peace to you, as well!); however, your "god"... whatever it may be, including your own understanding... appears to have rendered you blind. Perhaps that's why you can't see my God... and believe Him to be hiding. Easily remedied, though: eyesalve. You only need ask the One who sells it and... voila! You'll see no hiding... no umbrella.

    Peace to you all!

I have a patient whose health is being sustained each day by prayer. Maybe one day I will share her story on this forum. Peace, Lilly

Not to sound cliched, but through the proverbial "Still Small Voice Within".

At a recent AA meeting there was something mentioned about God speaking to the "majority voice of our collective conscience", or words to that effect.

That's about as sane and sensible as a "definition" of the Voice of God as I've yet to run across.

No, he does not and he never has. I guess that also answers the second question.

Any conversations I had with God during the course of my life, and there were many, were one sided. That is, I was doing all the talking and he never once talked back. If you claim that God is talking to you while I admit he is not talking to me it can only mean either that you are a better person than I am or that you perceive yourself to be better than I am. If the latter you have lots of company. From my humble perspective, there is no greater evidence that God speaks to no-one than the certainty with which Shiite Muslims and Suni Muslims and Plymouth Bretheren and Mormons and Baptists and Roman Catholics and Lutherans and Jehovah's Witnesses and all manner of religious sect and cult all claim that they are of the elect exclusive of all others. Since all of you cannot possibly be right it is only fair to assume that none of you are.

But, hey, that doesn't mean we can't be friends. Next time you're talking to God, could you ask him if I'm chopped liver then get back to me. Great. Thanks. Much appreciated.
