Does God speak to you? HOW?

I make two interesting observations, Shelby.

You say God came to you, which goes to my first comment on page 3 of this thread.

Your initial conversation happened while you were unwell and you mention chronic diabetes. Have you ever considered that there might be a connection?

Oh yeah jokes on all us Christians. God won't spontaneously generate limbs for amputees so he does not exist. yep, that proves it!
In all seriousness though, Jesus healed many people and it was demonstrated in front of literally thousands of people, as recorded in the bible and YET, only a small amount of people believed in him.
So, do you seriously think IF God did regenerate limbs for people today, that athiests would fall to their knees and become Christians? Yeah, I doubt it. What they will do is find a "scientific" explanation as to why the limbs regrew, that is what they will do. God will not get credit for it at all just like he does not get proper credit for your life, the air you breath, the universe you live in, the earth you live on, and all the extrodinary living things on this earth. Because you all choose to give credit to the fictional Mother nature.
Or, even worse, you say "Nothing created Everything".
Give me a break! Sorry GOD does not jump thru your little "test" hoops to prove his existance to you. Lilly

How could anyone possibly argue with that? ^^EXACTLY^^ startingover, I was going to address her post because she was referring to the video I posted. But I thought how can any good come out of it? How do you reason with this type thinking? The JW mindset is still hard to get rid of for some people. They just trade one delusion for another, slap a different brand name on it and wala back to where they started.

I appreciate it when Shelby's posts something directed at me because it is always generous and sincere, as much as I do not understand or see things as she does. I also don't see her making ad hominem attacks against me or other atheists, in spite of receiving them on a regular basis. There are few, if any, more interesting people on this board.

I'm an atheist but I am still interested in what theists have to say, if only to understand why they perceive things the way they do. While there are good, solid and logical arguments to be made against the existence of God the argument from personal experience is the most difficult to defeat, because personal experience is by far the most convincing to those who have had one. Anyone knowledgeable about psychology can explain the phenomenon of hearing voices, but will generally be unable to convince the individual hearing them that they are not real. That is because perception (whether yours or mine) is reality and, in effect, the voices are real.

Why is there so much disrespect on this board?

Astute observation Nickolas. There is no reason that people of science and spritual people cannot dialouge with one another in a productive, peacfull manner. No need to downgrade one another because we come from opposing mind sets.

I contend that all of us, science, or spiritual are subjective in our explainations and belifes. One thing this topic has given me, using Shelby as an example, is a deeper understanding of people in general. Who they are as individuals. Two things I have observed as well, no trolls have popped up and everyone has been civil with their comments.

(Smile). I was not feeling unwell, per se, dear Nick (peace to you!). My feeling unwell had little to do with my physical being (although I could have had diabetes then, but I wasn't diagnosed until 1998... and this was three years earlier). No, it was the potential "argument" with the idjit ex-husband that sent me to lie down (well, if you can call it that, because he would have been the only one "arguing" - he liked to go off with his friends and would frequently try and start an argument in order to have an "excuse" to leave. Why? I dunno. Probably had something to do with his "guilt"... which I wasn't fully aware of at the time. But I had gotten hip to his tactics by that time... and I really am not a contentious person... so I just chose to go lie down rather than listen to his melarkey, you know? Dude, GO... please! But he/it did get on my "nerves"... and so I think I can truthfully say I wasn't "feeling well". It was the "pain" in my butt that was getting to me; not one in my kidneys! LOLOLOLOL!)

Peace, dear one... and thank you: for your maturity, sincerity, kindess... and respect.

YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,

    SA
