Does God speak to you? HOW?

Oh yeah jokes on all us Christians. God won't spontaneously generate limbs for amputees so he does not exist. yep, that proves it!

In all seriousness though, Jesus healed many people and it was demonstrated in front of literally thousands of people, as recorded in the bible and YET, only a small amount of people believed in him.

So, do you seriously think IF God did regenerate limbs for people today, that athiests would fall to their knees and become Christians? Yeah, I doubt it. What they will do is find a "scientific" explanation as to why the limbs regrew, that is what they will do. God will not get credit for it at all just like he does not get proper credit for your life, the air you breath, the universe you live in, the earth you live on, and all the extrodinary living things on this earth. Because you all choose to give credit to the fictional Mother nature.

Or, even worse, you say "Nothing created Everything".

Give me a break! Sorry GOD does not jump thru your little "test" hoops to prove his existance to you. Lilly

I am not in to people who claim Jesus speaks to them, as most of the ones I have met are mentally ill or just wanting to look important. However, I do think spirits talk to us, passed relatives, spirit guides, etc. Not every spirit is someone famouse, and not everyone was a Prince, King or President in their past either, as is also the case with their spirit guides. Which is a filter for, and worth noting, as you see I do believe there is a communication happening from the spirit realm ... I just draw the line as bull shit, insanity and self glorification at what I mentioned.

From my humble perspective, there is no greater evidence that God speaks to no-one than the certainty with which Shiite Muslims and Suni Muslims and Plymouth Bretheren and Mormons and Baptists and Roman Catholics and Lutherans and Jehovah's Witnesses and all manner of religious sect and cult all claim that they are of the elect exclusive of all others. Since all of you cannot possibly be right it is only fair to assume that none of you are.

I have yet to see one single logical answer to this point. Actually, usually it is simply avoided. Then on to the slippery, rubberband replies to justify one's personal faith, with a dash of judgement on us "lesser" ones. Not realizing all those with their personal faith in god are doing the same to them.

To add, I think our mind is extremely powerful. We store memories, smells, songs, and feelings in ways we do not even fully grasp. I have walked in to a room and been overcome with emotion or feelings, as things I had forgotten about or not remembered come to me. I feel the words of the moment and even find myself talking inside to the past moment and asking more details or 'why did this happen?' and found answers. Is that Jesus, no. It is the person of now, knowing the outcome of then and getting a more complete answer. All of which, I think is why some people see God in their mind, when perhaps they are really just seeing a more complete picture of themselves.

Too add, those I have met who claim to speak to God ... to put this blunt ... are the most fucked up people I have ever met. Broken marriages. Kids that hate them. Addictions. Living poor and messed up. Just plain fucked up! I mean it, I have not seen an example to show me otherwise, yet.

    Unshackled, Nickolas, and F2BM:

I see the many different religions in a different light... rather than a black and white, all can't be right so all are wrong. I don't think life at any depth can be seen in so black and white a manner. I see that we (humanity) started with the same faith. The same belief. The same knowledge of our creator. But that spread out over time, culture and distance. Which is why we have similar moral teachings... overlapping stories of our beginnings... along with individual teachings and rules that developed within these different cultures. I think it might also be why we have similar feelings of being connected to our creator... because we believe in and are sensing one.

This doesn't explain how you get from a creator, to which version of a creator... but it does offer another perspective on some of those shared feelings for faith.

How could anyone possibly argue with that?

If you claim that God is talking to you while I admit he is not talking to me it can only mean either that you are a better person than I am or that you perceive yourself to be better than I am.

Actually, there's a third scenario, dear Nick (the greatest of love and peace to you!), which has much less to do with the person I am or perceive myself to be... than with the "route" I take. It's called "faith." Coupled with going through the proper Door so as to be heard... and listening when that Door (or, on rare occasion, God Himself) speaks. Perhaps my last post on this thread will explain a little better, or at least clear up some of the assumptions surrounding who hears, whose heard, who isn't... and why:

It also might not. That's really up to you, though. Depends on whether you REALLY want to know the truth... or, like many, have already made up your mind that there is absolutely no other truth than what you already believe.

    Again, peace to you!

Thank you, Shelby. I would not typify what I believe in terms of "absolutely no other truth". If you could represent all there is to know even within the small world in which we live as a pie chart, what I know would be a tiny sliver - smaller even than the piece in the illustration below. There are also things I know I don't know - like how to speak Arabic, or quantum mechanics, or making a baked Alaska - but by far the largest piece of the pie represents the things I don't know that I don't know. I can dedicate myself to learning Arabic, studying advanced physics or reading a cookbook and I can seek out and discover avenues of knowledge I never dreamed about and dedicate myself to learning them, too, but the knowledge of which you speak is not the same. I can say that because I was a searcher for a long, long time and, finding nothing, at last arrived at my present destination. I am not 100% sure that what I believe is absolute, but the fraction that allows for a different understanding within the area of the existence of God is very, very small. I searched for him long enough. If he is there, it's his turn to make a move, but I'm not holding my breath.

I am sorry that your search had a timeframe, dear Nick (again, peace to you!). You might consider, however, that since you most probably didn't know through WHOM you were to search (certainly not the WTBTS, if that was your "route"), you might consider... ummmmm... "refining" your search. You know, to the proper "channel"? Just a thought. I get it that you're "done." Saddens me, truly, but I get it.

    Again, peace to you!

nice pie chart nickolas - but I'd also like to see a slot for things we don't realize we do know - and perhaps God fits into this space
