Do all atheists or some hold the belief that the past present and future are exclusive of each other?
My kind of Christainity demands that I hold the past, present and future equally applicable to each other.
That means there is absolutely no difference in that I should respect each one and take care to nurture each one. Each one meaning the present (first), the past (second) and the future (third).
Impossible you say? That is correct. Without God, it is impossible. With God all things are possible.
dear xchange...
you said: "Oh, I also have to right to dismiss vapid threats of some cataclysmic portending for daring to disbelieve the millions of versions of some indifferent supreme entity."...
of course...and atheists seem to believe that the idea of God as well as the theists you deal with are your enemy and that the whole "God thing" ought to be put to rest, permanently...let me just say that your biggest enemy isn't in the "free world". the day of vengeance that God talks about in the bible is not vengeance against those who listen to God through His word or are His children through His Son. No, the day of vengeance is against those who would hurt these.
The LORD has made bare His holy arm
In the eyes of all the nations;
And all the ends of the earth shall see
The salvation of our God. (isaiah 52:10)
So shall He sprinkle many nations.
Kings shall shut their mouths at Him;
For what had not been told them they shall see,
And what they had not heard they shall consider. (isaiah 52:15)
According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay,
Fury to His adversaries,
Recompense to His enemies;
The coastlands He will fully repay.
So shall they fear
The name of the LORD from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun;
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him. (isaiah 59:18-19)
“As for Me,” says the LORD, “this is My covenant with them(believers): My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the LORD, “from this time and forevermore.” (isaiah 59:21)...
in fact...Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles,
And their offspring among the people.
All who see them shall acknowledge them,
That they are the posterity whom the LORD has blessed.” (isaiah 61:9)

Atheism is in acceptance of past, present and future human ignorance which has fostered theistic beliefs.
Atheism is also in acceptance of growing acquired knowledge of the world in which we live in, the very same world
that are predecessors once lived in.
Atheism is in acceptance of past, present and future human ignorance which has fostered theistic beliefs.
Why would atheism "accept" ignorance?
You do not understand my post. Nurture means to make grow good. Atheists believe in no spirit. Most do I think. It is the spirit that can live in the past, present and future simultaneously. The Holy Spirit can do that.
Here are my thoughts. I don't care what other people think or believe. As long as it doesn't go to a fundamentalist extreme, who cares if they think their invisible sky man hates me as a non-believer?
As Qcmbr stated, religion has also had a good impact such as bringing people together for a common purpose. Religion has also inspired art. When you see a painting of Job with ulcers, of Christ crucified, of the Burning Bush, etc., you can immediately relate to the picture. It doesn't matter if it's real or not.
I'll give you an example. If JW's didn't believe so dogmatically and didn't disfellowship people, wouldn't you mind hanging out with them as people? Who cares what their world view is.
So ultimately, to me, it is a question of extremes. Fundamentalists go to extremes to say it is written, so it must be so. Militant-atheists argue religion is bullshit and worthless and actively villify, not only religion, but the religious (as some posters have exhibited)
Why can't we find a common ground? We all share this one earth and it would be great if we could work together. Not everyone is intelligent. Not everyone has taken a college course on biology, geology, astronomy, etc. Just because people lack knowledge and believe in things that aren't real, doesn't necessarily make them dangerous.
Knowsnothing knows something! Can't we just get along for goodness sake?
It is the spirit that can live in the past, present and future simultaneously. The Holy Spirit can do that.
Really where do you did acquire this bit of information ?
Have you ever contacted a spirit and asked it ?
Did the writings of a mortal human being tell you this ?
If time doesn't exist for all spirits or god why did it take god the days of creation ?
I did not contact a spirit and ask it. I spirit contacted me and told me.
And this shit is funny-" Did the writings of a mortal human being tell you this* ?" Do you see how that is really funny?
*and that would make a difference?? LOL
