    My faith means I listen, learn and practice and the practice becomes evidence that I can do what I'm learning and what I learn becomes for me a pleasant advantage. So the test is only mine. I can not share the "testable evidence".

    Sorry to enter late into the debate, and I apologize if this has been addressed, as I haven't read all of the replies.

    Terry, you said:

    [quote]Atheism leaves room for any god for whom evidence can be presented might be more accurate?

    I'm afraid I should point out this is a de facto contradiction. A=without theist=god(s)

    Atheism does NOT leave room.

    Why? Atheism is a conclusion a priori.

    Honesty inquiry cannot reasonably commence with a conclusion in advance. When you leave room for evidence to be gathered you must first take the position of ignorance of the final conclusion. That is why I choose to identify myself as Agnostic.

    Skpetical Inquiry seems to me an honest starting point to gathering evidence.

    I'm not picking a fight. I'm just trying to be clear. [/quote]

    Perhaps I am changing how atheist is defined by most, but it seems you view atheism and agnosticism as mutually exclusive. I think this is a false dichotomy. I feel I am both an atheist and agnostic.

    Atheism is making a claim about belief. Agnosticism is making a claim about knowledge. I can believe in predestination without having knowledge of its existence. So I disagree with your point: atheism does leave room for the existence of a God.

    Atheism does NOT leave room. Merci !

    I agree. That's why the argument is not fair. To friend God we can not say maybe God doesn't exist, but I'll give it a go.

    But atheists are "holier than thou" when they insist believers are wasting their time and energy believing.

    " But atheists are "holier than thou" when they insist believers are wasting their time and energy believing."

    Actually, we are just making an observation that you are wasting your time and energy and informing you. You know, like making an observation of a dog chasing it's own tail endlessly. We say, "Hey, that dog is sure wasting it's time and energy trying to catch something that is most certainly elusive.". Others making the same observation, would concur. The dog on the other hand usually is too busy chasing it's tail to care.

    Of course you think believe your hypothesis can explain the observation.

    O = Observation
    H = Hypothesis
    T = Testing

    O1: Unexplained phenomenon

    H1: It's part of God's plan

    T1: Figure out what God's plan is

    O2: God has a plan [extends to O1]

    H2: This plan fits logically into all of human existence

    T2: Figure out what all of human existence is until this point

    O3: Human existence is progressive [extends to O2]

    H3: God's plan involves the progression of human existence [extends to H2]

    T3: Measure/quantify progression of human existence [extends to T1]

    Sab, are you now having to resort to changing my words to get anywhere with your agenda? Tsk tsk. Caught with your hand in the cookie jar, lad.

    So in your whole God's plan hypothesis, what observations did you make, what falsifiable hypothesis did you come up with and what was the test? I'm sincerly interested.

    Is that supposed to be scientific Sab?

    You may call it "Observing, suggesting a hypoythesis and testing, but actually you're just using three different words to mean "make stuff up"
