Why do people pretend good things about Jesus ?

I do not follow for a reward... and I am not a 'better' person than most.

Nonsense: you know what you expect as your 'reward', and what you ARE currently getting as your reward. It's rewarding to your ego, gives you comfort, etc. I'm not buying that for a minute, that you don't expect or get any 'reward' for being Jesus' apologetist.

Further, you still haven't disproved where I presented scriptural evidence that Jesus endorsed every last concept, every last word found in the Torah (including slavery), and in fact, the Sanhedrin Court (Jewish) dug for ANY proof that he had violated the Torah; they came up empty. If he HAD spoken against slavery, he would have given the Sanhedrin grounds for speaking against a practice allowed under the law.

Realize that ANY attempts, however minor, to modify or CHANGE the Torah would be considered the HEIGHT of apostacy under Hebrew law (there are scriptures in Deuteronomy that prohibit ANY such modifications). He even said, "I don't come to CHANGE the torah, but to fulfill it" (referring to the messianic prohecies it contains).

Bottom line is, Jesus didn't have to own slaves to indicate his support for slavery; he believed in his Daddy's law that explicitly allowed it (even demanded it, in the case of invading foreign lands of their neighbors, making them into their slaves).

Uhm, Sab---then do you not believe that Jesus died a physical death---involving his blood etc? Not sure where you are going with this.

What koolaid are you drinking? Suposedly they murdered the poor bastard to get our sins forgiven. The blood from your cult was dripping down his arms and legs.

For 'beating' the people. That is there in black and white if you need to see it.

Don't be intentionally obtuse, with the metaphorical "beating" thing. Its BS reasoning, and you know it.

You cannot seem to get it through your noggin that some of the "law" were addendums not originally part of the law, given by Moses... because of... the hard-heartedness of the people. Never mind the 'lying pen' or the misunderstandings, or the other additions and allowances for whatever other reason.

You seem to be ignorant of the FACT that Exodus and Leviticus is THE TORAH/Tanakh, and is not "an addition" to the Torah: IT IS THE TORAH!!!

The first five books of the OT ARE the Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy), AKA tanakh, or the Greek translation (called Septuagint).

In terms of slavery, the only people who didn't support it were abolitionists. Everyone free person benifited from the economic gains that slavery provided. So unless Jesus condemned slavery, he supported it.

Tec, the LAW gave the persmission of which Jesus was putting on the chopping block. If he wanted slavery gone he would have said it. He was going to die anyway. He condoned slavery. Do you think there could be a good reason for this if it were true?

Parable... metaphor... He was giving no one permission to go out and enslave a fellow human being. In the parable the 'slave' is a slave of Christ; he does not get to own slaves, he is supposed to be caring for his master's possessions (the people who seek or belong to Christ)

To enslave another human being breaks the golden rule; breaks his command to serve rather than be served... and to become the 'least'.

If someone makes themselves your slave, out of love for you alone... then this is not a slave as the world defines the word. Because a slave as the world defines it does not get to go free if he/she wants to. But love would compel you (or Christ) to release one who has made themselves your 'slave'... if they ask and/or want to be set free.

Can i think of a good reason for condoning slavery?

If the slave(s) could not have survived otherwise, in that culture or that time. (no means, no food, no money) Perhaps because they knew nothing else, or perhaps because someone else would come along and enslave them once free of one master. Perhaps they would not have known how to be free. (as many people still do not know how to be free)

Can I think of a good reason for keeping a slave against their will?

I can think of reasons, but i would not call any of them good. Certainly no reason i could think of that does not violate the golden rule.

No he didn't he got himself killed by Romans for rabble rousing. His followers interpreted his death as sacrificial. It was spin.

He did not have to die at all. He could have said, screw this and all y'all... and 'called upon a legion of angels'. He did not.

Because the only thing one had to learn was love. From that, all the rest would come.

Well that just wasn't true. False teaching

What you, Tec, and Aguest dont get is that you turn more people off to Jesus than you could ever hope to convert.

    Don't tell them our plan...

Science is a false prophet because they have predicted things that have not come true.

Science is a method of analysis and interpretation, it cannot BE a false prophet because it doesn't make prophecies.

Laying down his life for others

But laying down his life didn't actually save anyone. At all. Ever.

No, he was the Son of God and he died for my sins.

Wow, all you Christians should feel guilty for getting Jesus killed for something you did.

TEC Under the model that Jesus put forth many christians think they are just fine asking him for forgiveness and no one else.

"Christians" think a lot of things.

But Christ never taught anyone NOT to ask forgiveness or not to attempt to make amends.

In one of his parables, he says that one SHOULD make amends or settle differences before getting to the judge.

    Peace,

Jesus basically invoked the words of the ancient Greek philosopher, Peewee Herman, "I meant to do that!!!"
