Wow, all you Christians should feel guilty for getting Jesus killed for something you did.

    They do trust me.

I used to stand with them singing "were you there when they crucified my Lord" with tears in my eyes.

Its a powerful story once you really get it but its an equally horrible blood cult when you take a step back.

    NewChapter

He was giving no one permission to go out and enslave a fellow human being.

He did not have to give anyone permission---it was already accepted common practice. How silly---oh, and by the way, you have permission to carry on as always. People don't do that.

What he needed to do was point out that regardless of what was allowed in the past, slavery was no longer acceptable. The Golden Rule? So people could simply conclude that they should treat their slaves as they would want to be treated-----if they were slaves. It is not sufficient. It was a common practice. Another common practice---polygamy! Divorce! He bothered himself with these issues---saying the way that used to be allowed was no longer acceptable. If those were so important to him that this was recorded, it is not unreasonable to conclude that slavery was not important to him. He condoned it with his silence.

So I ask you again. Have you asked your lord about slavery?

He did not have to die at all. He could have said, screw this and all y'all... and 'called upon a legion of angels'. He did not.

Heh, you think his Sky Daddy might not countermand that order on the spot, for not following YHWH's Divine Plan?

Remember your own story: Jesus HAD to atone for Adamic sin to save all mankind, as the greatest act of love and self-sacrifice.

The entire story is the result of a mile-high lie sandwich, built up tall over 1000's of years, with twists and turns added to the script whenever anyone tries to wrestle control of the story to add another layer. Mormons and JWs are only the most recent claimaints to the throne to attempt to wrestle control of the story: they are not the last....

Tec, has your lord spoke to you specifically about slavery?

Not that I have heard or recognized.

Absolutely nothing suggests that slavery was against his nature.

Enslaving someone and holding them against their will... IS against his nature, and so also God's.

Nonsense: you know what you expect as your 'reward', and what you ARE currently getting as your reward. It's rewarding to your ego, gives you comfort, etc. I'm not buying that for a minute, that you don't expect or get any 'reward' for being Jesus' apologetist.

I know me and what motivates me. It does not matter to me what you 'buy'. All that does is prove to me how little you could possibly know me... despite your statements to the contrary.

Further, you still haven't disproved where I presented scriptural evidence that Jesus endorsed every last concept, every last word found in the Torah (including slavery), and in fact, the Sanhedrin Court (Jewish) dug for ANY proof that he had violated the Torah; they came up empty.

"Moses gave you this law because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way in the beginning."

    "I desire mercy, not sacrifice."

"How can you say that we are wise for we have the law of the LORD, when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?"

Or since you don't like that version of jeremiah 8:8, how about this one to make it more clear:

"How can you say, 'We are wise because we have the word of the LORD, when your teachers have twisted it by writing lies?"

Realize that ANY attempts, however minor, to modify or CHANGE the Torah would be considered the HEIGHT of apostacy under Hebrew law (there are scriptures in Deuteronomy that prohibit ANY such modifications). He even said, "I don't come to CHANGE the torah, but to fulfill it (referring to the messianic prohecies it contains).

Sure it would have been pretty awful... but it did and could happen. Shown in the scripture above, shown throught he warning at the end of the book of revelation, and shown through the fact that we KNOW people do it (such as the WTS inserting Jehovah with no proof of the name being in the NT)

no he couldn't don't be silly . He was just a dude like all of us.

Yeah, well, you're arguing for someone else entirely then. Not Christ.

"Christians" think a lot of things.

Uh oh, I sense a "no true Scotsman" fallacy going on.

Enslaving someone and holding them against their will... IS against his nature, and so also God's.

Example? I mean, he didn't say slavery was bad, he seemed pretty OK with it. So .... example?

Or since you don't like that version of jeremiah 8:8, how about this one to make it more clear:

Jesus didn't say that, so you can't really use is as proof of what he said

Why not? Are you not able to just ask? It's a pretty important subject to a lot of people, not just posters on JWN. Some people are concerned that the scriptures allowed slavery---not Sab though---he's cool with it.

He was an itinerant teacher who said some banal stuff about love, some nasty stuff about his own importance, made some false prophecies, got killed for rabble rousing and is now a pile of dust.

I think Christ knew His father far more than you think you do.

"Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and He will at once put at my disposal more than 12 legions of angels?"

Remember your own story: Jesus HAD to atone for Adamic sin to save all mankind, as the greatest act of love and self-sacrifice.

Tit for tat is the story of some... it is not my story.

But even so... look at your own words. He had to do it TO save all mankind. He did not have to do it, period. Only to save mankind. So he could have said, screw it and all y'all.

The entire story is the result of a mile-high lie sandwich, built up tall over 1000's of years, with twists and turns added to the script whenever anyone tries to wrestle control of the story to add another layer. twists and turns added to the script... hmmm... not that sounds like 'lying pens of the scribes'...

OMG TAMMY! Wrap your brain around this:

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

That is what is Divine Law, God's Will or Commandment, His NATURE (as you say) as expressed by YHWH in the Torah.

That is YHWH giving EXPLICIT PERMISSION to practice SLAVERY, just like He gave man permission to eat animal flesh after the Flood.

THAT IS LEGALIZATION OF SLAVERY: NOT PROHIBITION, BUT LEGALIZATION OF SLAVERY!!!

Jesus endorsed EVERY LAST WORD OF THE TORAH, including the legalization of SLAVERY, whether he singled it out or not!!

If you deny it, you are truly beyond hope: you cannot even listen or comprehend YHWH's own words, which even Jesus commands you to study in order to know His Father's message of "love".
