Why do people pretend good things about Jesus ?

So Tec why did he never say it? Why did early christians who knew him best continue to keep slaves?

He never said a lot of things, Cofty. Because the only thing one had to learn was love. From that, all the rest would come.

Even his disciples did not understand many things at first... not without Him explaining it; in the flesh while he was here, and in spirit afterward.

Pathetic excuse for a moral teacher.

    Sab,

What are you smoking with your MMJ? You are such a self righteous person. What you, Tec, and Aguest dont get is that you turn more people off to Jesus than you could ever hope to convert. You might say that NC or EP do the samething with atheism, but Ill remind you that they dont believe they are saving someones' soul.

    Now On to Jesus!

What an incredibly arrogant belief system he left behind. Who else would tell you that you didnt need to ask for forgivness from the person you wronged. You only need to ask him for forgiveness. Then again he does represent ineffectuality nailed to a cross. Who else only taught reused thinking for 3 years.

Yes, show love and mercy and forgiveness... all of these are the most important things of any law. I can see how some would find this pathetic.

Actually, none of my arguments that state there is no evidence for a god are centered on how long it has taken for him to come. Sorry you missed that, and it is a shame that you are going to argue it when no one has actually offered that resistence. In fact, let me be clear. He is not coming.

I know what I see and I know that you are blind and cannot see. What you purport is an "agument against God" is actually a fallacious attack on your own anger in yourself for being fooled by con artists. You just don't like yourself and you take it out on God. Then you drive that point home by saying he doesn't exist. If he really didn't exist you couldn't fight against him and I could not defend him, but here we are. All of Christianity has been waiting for God to come and you say he's not coming and therefore you are saying he is delaying IF he is real. So the debate is whether or not the Christian God real. That's what you focus on because if you disprove that then you don't have to worry about the timing. You can state otherwise, but that doesn't make it any less false.

Um... I don't believe that about myself, either. I don't have that kind of power.

Just so we're on the same page here.

    Where did he say that?

Of course it was pathetic. He never said an original thing, just banal platitudes mixed with some really nasty "follow me or perish" rants and false prophecies.

    Lame.

No he said it would happen within their own lifetime. He was a false prophet.

Science is a false prophet because they have predicted things that have not come true.

Deuteronomy 18 - 21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.

    Can't remember who said:

He forced no one into any of this, and if he had had a slave (or servent), it would have been because someone chose to BE his slave, out of love for Him and God.

Perhaps some have missed the nuanced point that his disciples actually believed him to be the Earthly Jewish Messiah, who was going to Jerusalem to ascend to the Earthly Kingdom of Israel in Jerusalem? Perhaps some of you did not understand the in-fighting and power-play dynamics documented to have existed amongst the disciples, some of whom asked Jesus to apoint them into positions of power, as his right hand advisors, as members of his Earthly administration? Hence the need for Jesus to tell them, "he who would be first, is last"?

OF COURSE the disciples were willing to feed the guy, serve him, following him around like lost puppy dogs, in hopes of whatever reward they would get. It was like someone today who wants to attach themselves to someone perceived to be as a rising star, who can take them along for the ride of their life. Someone claiming to be the Jewish Messiah is about as big as it gets, if you're Jewish.

That's human nature, unfortunately: people will ALWAYS play kiss-up to powerful figures, or claimants to the title (just like the thread about JWs marrying into high-status families, with an unofficial caste system in place of ministerial servants, elders, bethelites, CO, DO, GB, etc).

Yes they do actually, that's why they are here on this forum. This place has people who are leaving the Watchtower coming in and out of it. They are people showing signs of critical thinking. They work with these people with the intention of getting God out of their and their children's lives. If that person chooses another brand of fundamental thinking they look at it as a loss. Don't be fooled, friend.
